3 Les présentations du matin ont concerné les stratégies des secteurs de l aéronautique, de la construction, des matériaux et de l énergie nucléaire par rapport à la normalisation Morning presentations have been focused on standardization related strategies of the aeronautics, constructions, material and nuclear energy sectors

6 La deuxième série de présentations de l après midi a concerné l apport de la recherche à la normalisation et à l industrie en termes d innovation ainsi que l apport de l industrie à la recherche en terme de validation (The second series of presentations has addressed the benefits of standardization and research relationship in term of innovation and validation)

7 Développement simultané d une norme et de l application industrielle (ISO : partie 44 de MANDATE): la norme apporte au développement de l application et inversement. 8 Le retour d expérience de projets industriels ainsi que les deux «success story» présentées dans les autres sessions de l après midi ont clairement montré l impact extrêmement positif de la normalisation sur la compétitivité dans l industrie (The feed back on industrial stakeholders experiences as well as the two success stories presented in the other session clearly hightlight the very positive impact of standardization on industry competitivness)

11 Selon une enquête du NIST, 101 millions de dollars ont été effectivement économisés en 2000 (127 millions en 2001) aux Etats Unis dans les industries automobiles, aéronautiques et navales grâce à la mise en œuvre de STEP. 12 Par contre les bénéfices à attendre dans l industrie de l utilisation des normes ne sont quasiment jamais immédiats (The expexted benefits from the use of standard are quite never Short term benefits) La normalisation est un investissement de moyen ou de long terme (Standardization is a mid term or long term investment) La qualité des normes est liée à la qualité du consensus obtenu, ce qui ne peut être rapide (The quality of standard is strongly related to the consensus obtained. That can not be a very fast process)

14 Enfin le rôle d une norme dans un secteur industriel et son impact sur la compétitivité et l innovation dans ce secteur dépendent fortement (The role of a standard and its impact on competitiveness and innovation in a given sector is deeply determined): De son objet (its object) De certaines de ses caractéristiques (Some of its characteristics)

15 Pour avoir une vue d ensemble des normes qu ils ont développées et de leur projets de normalisation et mieux en maitriser la cohérence, le TC184 de l ISO et le TC65 de la CEI ont développé en commun un ensemble d outils («Big Picture») permettant d identifier pour chaque standard ou projet concerné quelques caractéristiques essentielles au regard de son rôle potentiel et de l impact des son utilisation dans l industrie. To obtain a global view on the developped standards or project of standardisation and then monitor in a more efficient way there consistency ISO TC184 and IEC TC65 have set up a common set of tools (The «Big Picture») which enables standardization stakeholders to identify for each concerned standard or project some characteristics related to its potential role and the impact of its use in industry.

20 Une fois rempli cet outil est destiné à être la base d analyses plus détaillées pour améliorer la cohérence des standards développés mais aussi pour en déterminer la meilleur utilisation (la mettre en évidence), promouvoir efficacement cette utilisation et ainsi accroître leur efficacité et leur impact sur la compétitivité et l innovation dans les secteurs industriels concernés. When populated this tool will be the basis of further detailled analysis to improve the consistency of developped standards, but also to identify their best use (and show it), promote this usage and then improve efficiency and impact of these standards on competitiveness and innovation in the concerned industrial sectors.
