5 Week 4 Schools and differences between English and French schools A Read the following paragraph and answer the questions in English. En France, on va au collège de douze à quinze ans. On commence les cours à huit heures et on finit à seize heures. C est un college mixte. Il y a 750 élèves et quarante cinq professeurs. On a quatre vingt dix minutes pour le déjeuner. Il y a sept cours par jour. On ne porte pas d uniforme. On achète ses stylos et ses cahiers. 6 Week 5: Que / What type questions There are a couple of ways of creating questions in French. Using que which means what or using qu est ce que which also means what. Therefore, Que préfères tu? or Qu est ce que tu préfères? both mean What do you prefer? A Translate the following questions into English. 7 Week 6: Révision A Practise reading the following passage in French using your best French accent. This means do not pronounce final consonants and anytime you read words that have an apostrophe such as J aime pronounce them as if they were glued together ([jem]). B Check any words you don t know. Bonjour, Je m appelle Gaétan et j ai treize ans. J habite à Biarritz. Mon collège s appelle Collège Louis Pasteur. Mon collège est horrible, on doit écouter le professeur et il ne faut pas utiliser le téléphone. J adore le sport parce que je préfère jouer avec mes amis. Mais je déteste les sciences, c est trop difficile. On a une heure pour le déjeuner et on finit à quatre heures. Ça va. On ne porte pas d uniforme. Et toi? Qu est ce que tu préfères au collège?
