205 The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment by a method of non destructive depollution (adsorption) and by a technique of photocatalytic degradation as well as the potentialities of the combination adsorption/photocatalyse for elimination of the 2- mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT). The adsorption of MBT on the three activated carbon and two clays used is well described by the two isotherms of Freundlich and Langmuir. In both cases, the kinetics of retention is of order two. The study of the influence of different the operational parameters (stirring velocity, ph, concentration of MBT, masses solid, temperature) with licence optimization from the adsorption of the substrate on the five adsorbents. In the case of the two activated carbon CAPE V1 and CAPE A, the process of retention is spontaneous (negative free enthalpy). In all the cases, the CAPE V1 presented the best performance of elimination of the adsorbate. In photochemistry, the MBT is degraded quickly in sunlight taking into account the significant covering of its absorption spectrum with that of the solar emission. This result indicates that the substrate does not accumulate in the environment. The 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, sulphur compound, are quickly oxidized by hydrogen peroxide. The kinetic study of the photocatalytic degradation of MBT showed that its elimination is very effective by this process, based primarily on the in situ generation of des radicaux OH nonselective and very reagents. This process is also affected by the operating conditions ([MBT], [ TiO 2 ], ph initial, nature of catalyst, luminous flow). The presence of alcohol strongly inhibits the speed of disappearance whereas the presence of acceptors of electrons such as H 2 O 2 and KBrO 3 increases it considerably. Analysis LC/MS showed that the photocatalytic transformation of MBT is accompanied by the formation of MBTSO 3, MBTSO 2 and OBT. Of others photoproduits were also identified in particular the products of opening of the benzene cycle. The reaction of the radicals, principal entities, thus seems to be carried out on the function thiole molecule. Lastly, the coupling activated carbon CAPE V1/photocatalyse showed an effect of synergy of the degradation of MBT in the case of low dose while adsorbing.
