4 ROCK & ROLL Meestal wordt voor de inrichting van een woonruimte vooral rekening gehouden met de lichtinval en de ruimte zelf. Zelden wordt de stijl bepaald door een indirect element. Toch is dat hier wel het geval. De bewoners, die altijd al tuk waren op stijlvolle vintage, konden hun interieur best zelf inrichten, maar voor de oplossing van een aantal praktische problemen kwamen ze terecht bij meubelontwerper Filip Janssens. In deze open woonruimte moest niet alleen de televisie, maar ook de muziekinstallatie met een oude platenspeler worden verstopt. Filip Janssens bedacht daarvoor een vrij unieke wandkast, opgebouwd uit op elkaar gestapelde houten dozen, meestal voorzien van deurtjes. Ze werden als een puzzel ineengevlochten tot een prachtige constructivistische wand die visueel veel aandacht trekt en de flat meteen een identiteit schenkt. Voorts is de aankleding van deze handig geconcipieerde flat verfrissend, met een combinatie van oude en nieuwe spullen. De bewoners houden van originele lampen, zoals de bloemvormige Pistillo aan de wand en de Pipistrello van Gae Aulenti, stuk voor stuk iconen uit de sixties. In de door Janssens ontworpen platenkast zitten trouwens de bijpassende platen uit die tijd. Ook de grote witte zit, net een Amerikaanse slee, heeft iets rock & roll. ROCK & ROLL La plupart du temps, on tient surtout compte de la lumière et de l espace même pour l aménagement d un séjour et beaucoup plus rarement d un élément indirect qui viendrait en définir le style. C est pourtant ce qui s est passé ici. Amoureux de vintage de qualité, les habitants étaient parfaitement capables de décorer euxmêmes leur intérieur, mais pour résoudre une série de questions pratiques, ils se sont adressés au styliste de meubles Filip Janssens. Il était notamment question de cacher dans ce séjour ouvert non seulement une télé mais aussi une sono avec un vieux tourne-disque. Filip Janssens a imaginé pour cela un placard fort original composé d un empilement de boîtes en bois, la plupart du temps munies de portes. Encastrées à la manière d un puzzle, elles constituent une superbe paroi constructiviste qui attire fortement l attention visuelle et procure une identité à cet appartement. Avec sa combinaison d objets anciens et nouveaux, le reste de la décoration donne à cet appartement bien pratique un air de fraîcheur. Les habitants aiment par exemple les lampes originales, comme la Pistillo en forme de fleur au mur et la Pipistrello de Gae Aulenti, de véritables icônes des années soixante. Précisons encore que le placard conçu par Janssens prévoit également le rangement des disques de cette époque. Il y a aussi le grand siège blanc avec son air de belle américaine qui dégage une ambiance de rock & roll. ROCK & ROLL In most cases the primary elements in designing a living area are the incident light and the space itself. Only rarely is the style determined by an indirect element. This is one of these rare cases. The residents who had always been keen on stylish vintage interior were perfectly capable of organizing their interior themselves, but turned to furniture designer Filip Janssens for solutions to a number of practical problems. This open living area needed to contain not just a television, but also a sound system including an old gramophone turntable. For this Filip Janssens came up with a rather unique cabinet consisting of stacked wooden boxes, most of them fitted with doors. These were then interwoven like a jigsaw puzzle to form a superb and attention-grabbing constructivist wall that immediately bestows an identity on the apartment. The decoration of this neatly conceived apartment is a refreshing combination of old and new. Its occupants love original lamps, like the flower-shaped Pistillo on the wall and the Pipistrello by Gae Aulenti, all icons from the sixties. In the record cabinet designed by Janssens are the matching records from that time. The big white limo-like chair has something rock & roll about it. 203

6 Deze flat is trendy en toch ietwat klassiek door de rustige en evenwichtige aankleding. Er staat ook heel wat authentiek vintage, zoals de eettafel en stoelen van Eero Saarinen. De bewoners houden van design met een organische vorm. Zo lijkt de Pistello-lamp aan de muur op een zeeanemoon. Cet appartement très à la mode a en même temps une touche classique par sa décoration calme et équilibrée. On y trouve aussi beaucoup de vintage authentique comme la table à manger et les chaises d Eero Saarinen. Les habitants adorent le design aux formes organiques. There are also lots of authentic vintage pieces, like the Eero Saarinen dining table and chairs. The inhabitants love organically-shaped design. 7 Meubelontwerper Filip Janssens ontwierp de wandkast, opgebouwd uit een puzzel van dozen. Daarin zitten onder meer het televisietoestel, een oude platenspeler en een collectie platen verstopt. Deze flat huist in een mooi gebouw, ontworpen door architectenbureau a154, met een eenvoudige structuur en verschuifbare houten schermen die het licht doseren.
