WARNING: DO NOT carbonate with any bottle not specifically designed to work with this Soda Maker. The PLAY Soda Maker is designed to work with all 1L SodaStream carbonating bottles as well as the 0.5L carbonating bottle marked Source. SodaStream glass carbonating bottles and 0.5L bottles that are not marked Source are not compatible with the PLAY Soda Maker and should not be used. Only suitable SodaStream carbonating bottles should be used with the PLAY Soda Maker. Close adult supervision is necessary when the Soda Maker is used by children. WARNING: DO NOT use the Soda Maker for anything other than carbonating water. Use of this Soda Maker for any unintended purposes may result in serious personal injury. WARNING: Use the Soda Maker on a flat, stable surface away from sources of heat. DO NOT place the Soda Maker on a hot surface (e.g. stove top) and never use it close to an open flame. WARNING: DO NOT carbonate an empty bottle. Carbonating bottle must be properly in place before operating the Soda Maker. DO NOT move Soda Maker during the carbonation process. DO NOT remove the carbonating bottle during the carbonation process. To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage, any servicing or repair should be performed by a SodaStream-authorized service representative. CO CARBONATORS 2 DANGER: A CO 2 leak can lead to carbon dioxide poisoning. In the event of a CO 2 leak, ventilate the area, breathe fresh air and if feeling unwell seek immediate medical attention. WARNING: The carbonator should be inspected prior to use for any dents, punctures, or other damage. If any are detected DO NOT use the carbonator and contact a SodaStream-authorized service representative. WARNING: Mishandling the carbonator can result in serious personal injury. WARNING: Use caution when removing the carbonator as it may be very cold immediately after use. Always keep the carbonator away from any heat source and out of direct sunlight. 2

DO NOT throw the carbonator or cause it to fall. DO NOT handle a carbonator while it is discharging CO 2. CARBONATING BOTTLE WARNING: DO NOT carbonate with any bottle not specifically designed to work with this Soda Maker. The PLAY Soda Maker is designed to work with all 1L SodaStream carbonating bottles as well as the 0.5L carbonating bottle marked Source. SodaStream glass carbonating bottles and 0.5L bottles that are not marked Source are not compatible with the PLAY Soda Maker and should not be used. DO NOT rinse the bottle in hot water. DO NOT place the bottle next to a heat source such as your kitchen stove. DO NOT leave the bottle in your car. DO NOT place the bottle in the freezer. Doing so will compromise the integrity of the carbonating bottle material and may result in serious personal injury. WARNING: DO NOT use a carbonating bottle if changes in shape have occurred, as that indicates the bottle is damaged. DO NOT use carbonating bottles that are scratched, worn, discolored, or damaged in any way. WARNING: SodaStream carbonating bottles are clearly marked with an expiration date near the bottom of the bottle. DO NOT use bottles after their expiration date. Recycle and replace expired bottles in accordance with local recycling laws. Rinse carbonating bottle with cold or lukewarm water before first use. CARBONATION WARNING: DO NOT USE THE SODA MAKER TO CARBONATE ANY LIQUIDS OTHER THAN PLAIN WATER. ADD FLAVOR ONLY AFTER CARBONATION. WARNING: DO NOT carbonate an empty bottle. 3

5 WHAT S INSIDE SODASTREAM PLAY SODA MAKER STARTER CO 2 CARBONATOR 1 REUSABLE BPA-FREE CARBONATING 2 BOTTLE The package includes the SodaStream PLAY Soda Maker, Starter CO 2 Carbonator and a reusable BPA-Free carbonating bottle with fizz-preserving cap. Flavor samples may be included. 1 Includes a mini or 15L Starter Carbonator (under license). Once empty, the mini or Starter Carbonator can be exchanged for a full TM 60L carbonator for the price of the gas only. This PLAY Soda Maker is also compatible with the SodaStream 60L and 130L carbonators. A 15L Starter Carbonator makes up to 15L of soda, a 60L carbonator makes up to 60L of soda, and a 130L carbonator makes up to 130L of soda, depending on the level of carbonation and type of soda maker used. 2 Actual shape of bottle may differ. A dishwasher-safe carbonating bottle may be included and is identified by its 'Dishwasher-Safe' marking. 5

7 INSTALL THE CO CARBONATOR 2 1. Place the PLAY Soda Maker on a flat, sturdy surface, then gently lay it down on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards. Adaptor Collar 2. Remove seal and cap from the SodaStream CO 2 carbonator. Remove the carbonating bottle stored inside the PLAY and then insert the CO 2 carbonator i n t o t h e o p e n i n g o f t h e carbonator hollow at the base of TM the PLAY Soda Maker and turn the CO 2 carbonator clockwise while applying gentle pressure until it is firmly held in place. Hand-tighten only; do not use tools. TM If the PLAY Soda Maker is not laying on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards, a safety gate will block the carbonator hollow and you will not be able to fully insert the carbonator. If using a 130L carbonator, remove the carbonator adaptor collar by pulling it out from the base of the unit. 3. Place your PLAY Soda Maker back in the upright position. You are ready to create the bubbles. 7

8 CREATE THE BUBBLES Fill Line 1. Prior to making soda, fill the carbonating bottle with cold water up to the fill line. 2. To insert the carbonating bottle, make sure that the carbonating block is in its fully upward position and the bottle rest is angled forward. If it isn t, pull it towards you until it clicks. Do not pull the carbonating tube. Insert the carbonating bottle neck into the Snap-Lock. Push the bottle up and back. The Snap-Lock mechanism will catch the bottle and hold it in a vertical position.* 3. Push down the carbonating block, hold for 1-2 seconds and release. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position, then repeat to obtain stronger levels of carbonation. (See Carbonating Levels section.) 4. When the desired level of carbonation is achieved, with the carbonating block in its fully upward position pull the bottle towards you to release it from the Snap-Lock. Enjoy! 1st 1st 2nd 3rd 3rd 2nd *When inserted correctly there is a gap between the bottom of the carbonating bottle and the base. Do not carbonate if the carbonating bottle is resting on the base or the water will splash out. 8

9 CARBONATING LEVELS YOU MAY SEE SMALL PIECES OF ICE APPEAR IN THE WATER DURING CARBONATION OF VERY COLD WATER: If this happens, shorten the time of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice created will simply melt. For LIGHT FIZZ Push down the carbonating block, hold for 1-2 seconds, release, and wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position. Remove the carbonating bottle only when the carbonating block is in its fully upward position. For MEDIUM FIZZ A total of 2 presses will provide you with medium fizz. On each press, hold down for 1-2 seconds. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position between each press and before removing the carbonating bottle. For HIGH FIZZ A total of 3 presses will provide you with high fizz. On each press, hold down for 1-2 seconds. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position between each press and before removing the carbonating bottle. For high fizz, and for maximum utilization of CO 2, use cold water. (Do not use ice-cold water). 9

11 SodaStream Caps Sodamix FLAVOR YOUR WAY! For SodaStream Caps: After making sparkling water place a SodaStream Cap on the top of the open carbonating bottle and press down firmly. Flavor will be released and dissolved. Once emptied, remove the SodaStream Cap and recycle it. Enjoy! For Sodamix Bottles: After making sparkling water hold the open carbonating bottle at an angle and slowly add the desired flavor by pouring it slowly and carefully down the inside wall of the bottle. Close with the fizz-preserving cap and tighten, then mix with a gentle shake. Enjoy! 11

12 CARE SODA MAKER Never use abrasive cleaners or sharp tools to clean. If needed, use a mild dish soap liquid and a soft damp cloth to gently clean. Wipe spills to keep base dry. DO NOT place in water or wash in a dishwasher. Doing so will seriously damage your Soda Maker. DO NOT place or store the Soda Maker close to a heat source. CARBONATING BOTTLE FOR YOUR SAFETY: WARNING: IF YOUR SODASTREAM CARBONATING BOTTLE IS NOT MARKED 'DISHWASHER-SAFE', DO NOT WASH IT IN THE DISHWASHER. IF CARBONATING BOTTLES ARE MISTAKENLY WASHED IN THE DISHWASHER, DO NOT USE THEM. THROW THEM AWAY. USING BOTTLES THAT HAVE BEEN WASHED IN THE DISHWASHER OR BOTTLES THAT ARE SCRATCHED, WORN, DISCOLORED, OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY. Rinse carbonating bottles with cold or lukewarm water, but never rinse with hot water. If needed, use a mild dish soap liquid or SodaStream bottle cleaning tablets and a soft-bristled brush to clean. Every SodaStream carbonating bottle has an expiration date printed on it. DO NOT use the bottle after this date. Replacement SodaStream carbonating bottles are available wherever SodaStream products are sold. EXCHANGE YOUR CARBONATOR The SodaStream CO 2 carbonator is provided to you under license. The license allows you to exchange your empty carbonator for a full one for the price of the gas content only, at a participating SodaStream authorized retailer. Follow instructions to replace the carbonator in the 'Install the CO 2 Carbonator' section. For a list of local retailers near you and ordering information visit us in the USA at and in Canada at TROUBLESHOOTING Before you call for service, please check the list of problems and solutions below: SODA MAKER DOES NOT CARBONATE: You might be out of gas; replace your carbonator. TM Carbonator may be loose. Remove the carbonating bottle, place the PLAY Soda Maker on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards to access the carbonator inside the carbonator hollow through the base. Retighten the carbonator by hand. DO NOT use tools. Apply firm pressure but do not over tighten. If the carbonator is already firmly in place, it may be empty. Replace with a full carbonator. Check that the carbonating bottle has been filled up with water to the fill line. Ensure that the Soda Maker is in the upright position. CANNOT PULL BOTTLE REST: Make sure that the carbonating block is in its fully upward position. Pull the bottle rest firmly towards you. 12

13 CANNOT INSERT THE CARBONATING BOTTLE INTO THE SNAP-LOCK: Make sure that the carbonating block is in its fully upward position. Pull the bottle rest towards you until it clicks into its fully forward position. Insert bottle into Snap-Lock. Push bottle up and back until it locks. YOU HEAR GAS ESCAPING FROM THE CARBONATING BOTTLE: The carbonating bottle may not be properly attached. Allow the Soda Maker to finish the carbonation process and then you can detach the bottle and reconnect it. Follow the instructions in the Create the Bubbles section. It is normal to hear a small amount of gas released at the end of the carbonation process. WANT TO RE-CARBONATE A DRINK THAT WAS ALREADY CARBONATED: WARNING: FOR YOUR SAFETY, NEVER carbonate again after adding the flavor. You may recarbonate only plain or sparkling unflavored water. YOUR SODA MAKER CONTINUES TO RELEASE GAS AFTER CARBONATION IS FINISHED: WARNING: Do not remove the carbonator or the bottle. Leave the Soda Maker in an upright position. Do not touch it until you no longer hear gas escaping. When the Soda Maker is no longer releasing gas, remove the carbonating bottle and contact your local SodaStream Customer Service Center. DANGER: A CO 2 leak can lead to carbon dioxide poisoning. In the event of a CO 2 leak, ventilate the area, breathe fresh air and if feeling unwell seek immediate medical attention. YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF LEAKING GAS AFTER INSTALLING A NEW CARBONATOR INTO THE SODA MAKER: Screw the carbonator tighter into its fitting. DO NOT use tools. YOU EXPERIENCE POOR CARBONATION: WARNING: DO NOT re-carbonate after adding flavor. If you have not yet added flavor, carbonate again to a higher carbonation level. Carbonate using cold water. If you still experience poor carbonation you may be out of gas. Replace the carbonator. WATER OVERFLOWS FROM THE CARBONATING BOTTLE DURING CARBONATION: Check that the carbonating bottle is filled to just the fill line. Verify that the carbonating bottle is firmly installed in the Snap-Lock. Check by gently pulling the bottom of the bottle. If it feels loose, then remove and reinsert. YOUR SODA IS NOT FLAVORFUL ENOUGH: Just add more flavor to taste! WARNING: DO NOT re-carbonate after adding the flavor. SMALL PIECES OF ICE APPEAR IN THE WATER DURING CARBONATION: This might happen when carbonating very cold water. If this happens, shorten the time of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice created will simply melt. YOU CANNOT FULLY INSERT THE CARBONATOR INTO THE CARBONATOR HOLLOW: Make sure the Soda Maker is lying on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards to ensure the safety gate within the carbonator hollow is open. 14 SODASTREAM LIMITED WARRANTY Great care has been taken to ensure that your Soda Maker was delivered to you in good condition. SodaStream warrants, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this limited warranty, that your Soda Maker will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for three (3) years following the date of purchase. It is recommended that you register your Soda Maker online, at if purchased in the USA, and at if purchased in Canada, or send in the product registration postcard that came with your Soda Maker. If your Soda Maker malfunctions within the three year warranty period, and we determine the problem is due to faulty workmanship or materials, SodaStream will repair or replace it free of charge at SodaStream s discretion within the limitations set out in this warranty. SodaStream may replace your Soda Maker with a reconditioned Soda Maker, or an equivalent one if the model you purchased is no longer available. No refunds shall be given. This limited warranty is available to consumers located in the USA or Canada only, in relation to Soda Makers that were purchased at retail in the USA or Canada for personal, family or household use. This warranty DOES NOT cover: Abuse, misuse, alteration of the Soda Maker, or commercial use; Damage resulting from carbonating liquids other than water; Normal wear and tear (e.g. discoloration); Product malfunctions that were a result, in whole or in part, by alteration, disassembly, or repair of the Soda Maker by a servicer other than an authorized SodaStream Service Center; Damage resulting from the use of carbonators or carbonating bottles other than those approved by SodaStream for use with your Soda Maker; Damage resulting from use of the Soda Maker with an adapter valve; Damage resulting from the use of an expired carbonating bottle; Damage caused by accident, shipment or anything other than normal household use; The carbonating bottles and carbonators. SodaStream is not liable for incidental or consequential damages. The consumers' sole and exclusive remedy shall be repair or replacement according to the terms and conditions of this warranty. Some States or Provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of these damages, so these exclusions may not apply to you. To the extent that this warranty is inconsistent with local law, this warranty shall be deemed modified to be consistent with such local law. You may also have other rights, which vary in accordance with local laws. The benefits given to the consumer by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies that may be afforded to the consumer by law in relation to this Soda Maker. TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE If your Soda Maker is in need of warranty service, please contact SodaStream Customer Service in the USA by telephone at , fax at , or contact us via our website at or in Canada at or via our website at A SodaStream representative will give you specific instructions on how to arrange for the shipment of your Soda Maker, at your expense, to one of our authorized service centers. Only SodaStream, or its agents, are authorized to provide warranty repairs or service to your Soda Maker. Repair by a third party voids the warranty. FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS California residents may also obtain warranty service by returning any malfunctioning Soda Maker directly to a retail store that sells similar SodaStream products. At the retail store s discretion, it may either replace the product or arrange for shipment to a SodaStream repair facility. Product registration is not a prerequisite for warranty protection. 14

15 NON-WARRANTY SERVICE If SodaStream or its authorized agents determine that the malfunction or damage is not covered by the warranty, SodaStream will repair the Soda Maker only upon payment of the determined repair charge. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Any and all claims, complaints, demands for judgment or legal actions brought hereunder relating in any way to your Soda Maker shall be governed by, and construed in the USA in accordance with, the laws of the State of New Jersey without reference to its conflicts of law principles and in Canada in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and of the federal laws of Canada as applicable therein. Purchaser(s) and user(s) irrevocably consent to the jurisdiction in the USA of the State and Federal courts located in the State of New Jersey and in Canada to the jurisdiction of the Courts of the Province of Ontario, in connection with all actions arising out of or in connection with the Soda Maker. Purchaser(s) and user(s) waive any and all objections that venue in New Jersey, or Ontario as applicable, is an inconvenient forum. Purchaser(s) and user(s) further agree that he or she will not initiate any action against SodaStream in any other jurisdiction. SODASTREAM CARBONATORS Your Soda Maker has been designed to operate with a genuine SodaStream carbonator. The use of other CO 2 carbonators is not recommended as they may not be compatible with this SodaStream Soda Maker. Damages resulting from the use of a carbonator other than a SodaStream carbonator are not covered by the warranty. Replacement carbonators are available from authorized SodaStream retailers. SODASTREAM CARBONATING BOTTLES Your Soda Maker has been designed to operate with a suitable SodaStream carbonating bottle. Damages resulting from the use of a bottle other than a suitable SodaStream carbonating bottle are not covered by the warranty. Before each use, check the expiration date on the carbonating bottle. Replace expired carbonating bottles with new ones. Please recycle your expired carbonating bottles in accordance with local recycling laws. 21 COMMENT ASSEMBLER VOTRE MACHINE À SODA PLAY 1. Placer la machine à soda PLAY sur une surface plate et solide, puis la coucher délicatement sur son dos avec le bloc de gazéification vers le haut. bague de l'adaptateur 2. 23 CRÉER LES BULLES Ligne de remplissage 1. Avant de faire du soda, remplir la bouteille de gazéification avec de l eau froide jusqu à la ligne de remplissage. Appuyer une fois de plus, maintenir pour 2-3 secondes et relâcher. Si vous appuyez un total de 1-2 fois, vous obtiendrez un pétillement léger. S assurer d attendre que le bloc de gazéification revienne à sa position verticale originale d appuyer de nouveau dessus. Pour un PÉTILLEMENT MOYEN - Si vous appuyez un total de 2-3 fois, vous obtiendrez un pétillement moyen. Chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bloc, maintenir enfoncé pour 2-3 secondes. Pour un PÉTILLEMENT FORT - Si vous appuyez un total de 3-4 fois, vous obtiendrez un pétillement fort. Chaque fois que vous appuyez sur le bloc, maintenir enfoncé pour 2-3 secondes. Pour un pétillement fort, et pour un usage optimal du CO 2, utiliser de l eau glacée. 24

Las botellas de gasificación de vidrio de SodaStream y las botellas de 0.5L que no estén identificadas como Source no son compatibles con la máquina de soda PLAY y no deben ser utilizadas. ADVERTENCIA: A menos que la botella de gasificación de SodaStream esté marcada claramente con la indicación Apta para lavavajilla, NO LA LAVE NUNCA EN EL LAVAVAJILLAS NI LA EXPONGA AL CALOR POR ENCIMA DE 120 F (49 C) O AL FRÍO EXTREMO POR DEBAJO de 34 F (1 C). NO lave la botella con agua caliente. NO coloque la botella cerca de una fuente de calor, como por ejemplo las hornallas de la cocina. NO deje la botella en su automóvil. NO coloque la botella en el freezer. Esto puede comprometer la integridad del material de la botella de gasificación, y ocasionar daños corporales serios. ADVERTENCIA: NO utilice la botella de gasificación si ve que la botella está deformada, ya que esto es un indicativo de que la botella está dañada. NO utilice botellas de gasificación raspadas, gastadas, descoloradas, o dañadas de cualquier manera. ADVERTENCIA: Las botellas de gasificación de SodaStream tienen claramente marcada la fecha de vencimiento en la parte inferior de la botella. NO use botellas después de su fecha de vencimiento. Recicle y recambie las botellas vencidas según las leyes locales de reciclaje. Enjuague la botella de gasificación con agua fría o tibia antes de su primer uso. GASIFICACIÓN ADVERTENCIA: NO UTILICE LA MÁQUINA DE SODA PARA GASIFICAR UN LÍQUIDO QUE NO SEA AGUA PURA. AGREGUE EL JARABE SABORIZANTE ÚNICAMENTE DESPUÉS DE LA GASIFICACIÓN. ADVERTENCIA: NO gasifique botellas vacías. 31
