2 SPÉCIALISTE EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE AEC LCA.CB OBJECTIF Ce programme a été conçu pour des adultes qui n ont pas de formation scolaire antécédente dans le domaine du transport et de la logistique. L intention du programme est de permettre aux étudiants d entreprendre avec succès une carrière dans ce secteur d activité économique et de leur fournir une base solide pour des formations académiques subséquentes et un cheminement de carrière prometteur. PERSPECTIVES PROFESSIONNELLES Ce programme AEC vise a former des individus qui pourront combler une variété de postes techniques dans le secteur du transport et de la logistique, spécifiquement en transport, entreposage, distribution, et autres domaines reliés à la chaîne d approvisionnement et à l industrie de la logistique. Les finissants du programme seront appelés à travailler dans des entreprises manufacturières, des centres de distribution, des entrepôts, des entreprises de transport (routier, maritime, ferroviaire et aérien), chez des intermédiaires (transitaires ou courtiers en douanes) ou des compagnies de services de logistique. Les appellations suivantes sont tirées de l analyse de situation de travail en logistique du transport et représentent bien les emplois visés par l attestation : répartiteur, agent de douane, technicien ou coordinateur de logistique et transport, et superviseur d entrepôt. CANDIDATURES Le programme spécialiste en transport et logistique s adresse essentiellement à deux groupes: en premier, ceux qui ne travaillent pas présentement et qui désirent entreprendre une carrière dans un secteur qui offre de bonnes perspectives de carrière a long terme; et deuxièmement, ceux qui travaillent déjà dans l industrie du transport et qui désirent accéder à des postes administratifs. CRITÈRES D ADMISSION Les candidats devront posséder un diplôme d études secondaires du Québec ou une formation jugée suffisante par le Collège pour un succès potentiel dans ce programme. Ils devront aussi rencontrer les critères d admission au programme d Attestation d études collégiales (AEC). Les candidats admis posséderont une connaissance fonctionnelle de l anglais et du français, plus particulièrement en ce qui concerne la communication orale. Les candidats devront soumettre un curriculum vitae (CV) et seront sujets à une entrevue préalablement à l admission afin de vérifier leurs connaissances. S il y a lieu, les candidats devront suivre des cours d appoint.

3 SPECIALIST IN TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS AEC LCA.CB PROGRAM OBJECTIVE This program is designed for adults who do not have prior academic training in the areas of transportation and logistics. It is intended to enable them to begin successful careers and provide a sound foundation for further education and career development in this economic sector. CAREER OUTLOOK This AEC program aims to produce individuals who can fulfill a wide range of technical roles in the logistics and transport sector, specifically in transportation, warehousing, distribution, and other related areas of the supply chain and logistics industry. Program graduates will work in manufacturing enterprises, distribution centers, warehouses, transportation companies (road, rail, maritime and air) as well as in customs brokerage firms and companies involved in logistic services. The job titles for which a graduate of the program would be qualified include: dispatcher, customs agent, logistics and transportation technician or coordinator, and warehouse supervisor. TARGETED CLIENTELE The Specialist in Transportation and Logistics program is primarily directed at two major groups: first, those who are not working and who are seeking to begin a career in a sector which offers good long term career prospects; and secondly, those working in the transportation industry who wish to advance to an administrative position. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Students must have a Quebec Diploma of Secondary Studies or have received instruction deemed sufficient by the College for potential success in the program, as well as meet the admission criteria for admission to an Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) Program. Students must be functionally bilingual (French and English), particularly in their oral communication skills. Prospective candidates will be asked to submit a curriculum vitae (CV) and may be interviewed prior to admission to the Program to verify their qualifications. Potential candidates may be required to take an appropriate remedial course(s).

4 CRITÈRES D ADMISSION Attestation d Études Collégiales (AEC) Vous êtes éligible au programme d Attestation d Études Collégiales (AEC) si vous êtes soit citoyen canadien ou résident permanent ou êtes le détenteur d un Visa Étudiant valide, et si vous possédez: Un diplôme d études secondaires OU Un diplôme d études collégiales ou universitaires OU Une formation incomplète dans un programme d études secondaires, jumelée d une lettre de recommandation d un employeur qui atteste qu il serait bénéfique pour vous de poursuivre des études postsecondaires. ET Vous rencontrez une des trois conditions suivantes: Vous avez terminé vos études depuis au moins deux sessions consécutives ou une année scolaire (12 mois). Vous êtes visé par une entente conclue entre le collège et un employeur, ou par une entente conclue entre le collège et un programme gouvernemental (EMPLOI-QUÉBEC). Vous avez complété une année ou plus d études postsecondaires échelonnées sur une période d un an ou plus.

5 ADMISSION CRITERIA Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) You are eligible to register in an Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) program if you are a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident or the holder of a valid Student Visa, and if you have the following: A Diploma of High School Studies OR A College Diploma or a University Degree OR A partial high school program, coupled with a recommendation from a current or former employer that you would benefit from pursuing your education at the post-secondary level. AND You meet one of the following three conditions: You have not been a full-time student for at least two consecutive terms or one school year within the last 12 months. You are part of an agreement between the college and an employer, or you are sponsored within the terms of a government program (EMPLOI-QUÉBEC). You have completed at least one year of post-secondary studies spread over a period of one year or more.

10 DESCRIPTIONS DES COURS INTRODUCTION AU TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE ET À LA GÉOGRAPHIE MONDIALE LA Prérequis: Aucun Ce cours permet aux étudiants d'acquérir une compréhension des concepts et principes fondamentaux associés au secteur du transport et de la logistique; il offre aussi une révision des notions de géographie mondiale pertinentes à ce type d'industrie. À la fin du cours, les étudiants auront une compréhension des interrelations entre ces deux domaines et seront en mesure de caractériser et de distinguer les diverses fonctions de l emploi et les postes rattachés à ce milieu. RÉDACTION TECHNIQUE ET COMMUNICATION EFFICACE EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE LA Prérequis: Aucun Ce cours est conçu pour permettre aux étudiants de produire et présenter des documents écrits, en particulier, des rapports techniques. À la fin de ce cours, les étudiants sauront s assurer qu ils ont bien compris, et si nécessaire, pourront clarifier l information qu ils reçoivent; ils sauront comment organiser cette information et la sauvegarder pour qu elle puisse être récupérée rapidement. Ils apprendront aussi comment traiter les données afin d extraire les informations pertinentes pour une tâche ou un besoin spécifique. MATHÉMATIQUES APPLIQUÉES EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: Aucun LA Ce cours permettra aux étudiants d identifier et exécuter les opérations mathématiques et statistiques nécessaires et faire des estimés pertinents au domaine du transport et de la logistique ; en se servant de leurs connaissances des réseaux du transport et des matrices de l industrie, ils pourront résoudre des problèmes reliés à l organisation du transport. CONCEPTS COMPTABLES EN LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: LA LA Ce cours permet à l élève d évaluer la relation entre les coûts, le volume et les profits au sein de divers genres de compagnies. Les élèves apprendront à classifier les différents types de coûts et sauront établir, interpréter et analyser les états financiers réels et prévisionnels d entreprises de services, manufacturières et industrielles.

11 VENTES ET SERVICE À LA CLIENTÈLE Prérequis: Aucun LA Un service à la clientèle efficace est primordial à chaque commerce. Ce cours enseignera aux élèves les fondements pratiques et théoriques d un service à la clientèle efficace. Les élèves amélioreront aussi leurs connaissances dans le domaine de la vente. LANGUE SECONDE POUR TRANSPORTATION ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: Aucun LA/ LA Ce cours est offert, selon le besoin individuel de chaque élève, en français ou en anglais et sert à enseigner l interprétation des messages écrits, des documents techniques et des communications orales; les élèves apprendront aussi à répondre aux requêtes simples dans leur langue seconde. Ils apprendront à traduire le vocabulaire et la terminologie associée à leur programme d études. Les étudiants auront l opportunité d affiner leurs compétences en anglais ou en français selon le cas, par la pratique orale en classe et les travaux écrits. TECHNOLOGIES DE L INFORMATION APPLIQUÉES EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: Aucun DESCRIPTION: LA Ce cours permettra aux étudiants d acquérir une solide connaissance des outils, mécanismes et logiciels informatiques couramment utilisés dans l industrie du transport et logistique. Ils apprendront comment les différents commerces se servent de ces outils pour augmenter leur rendement et diminuer leurs coûts. PRINCIPES DE GESTION EN APPROVISIONNEMENT Prérequis: LA, LA LA Ce cours permet à l élève de comprendre toutes les implications reliées au choix des fournisseurs et au maintien des relations avec ces derniers. À la fin du cours, les étudiants sauront choisir les fournisseurs selon les besoins spécifiques de leur entreprise. GESTION D INVENTAIRE ET DE L ENTREPOSAGE Prérequis: LA LA Ce cours permet à l étudiant de bien saisir l importance de la gestion des stocks. À la fin du cours, l étudiant sera capable d assurer rationnellement les besoins en stock d une production, plus spécifiquement il s assurera d avoir les bons stocks au bon moment, au bon endroit et en bonne quantité. L étudiant s assurera aussi que la marchandise est reçue, entreposée et livrée correctement.

12 TRANSPORT NORD-AMÉRICAIN Cours associé: LA Prérequis: LA, LA LA Ce cours permet à l élève d identifier et de recommander l itinéraire et le mode de transport approprié à une situation donnée pour le transport de la marchandise, à l aide de la cueillette d information pertinentes, de cartes spécialisées et par l utilisation de logiciels de conception d itinéraires tout en respectant la réglementation. Ce cours permet également de gérer efficacement les équipements de transport et d effectuer la répartition sur le plan nord américain. GESTION DES OPERATIONS EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: LA, LA LA Ce cours permet à l élève de participer à la gestion des opérations en transport routier et d élaborer un plan de transport de marchandises à l échelle provinciale. Ce cours permet à l élève d approfondir ses connaissances sur les lois liées au monde du transport routier dans un contexte provincial; d effectuer de la répartition tout en tenant compte de divers critères (réglementation, ancienneté du personnel, équipements disponibles, etc.) et ce, à l aide de logiciels dédiés et de l internet. ANALYSE DES COÛTS DE REVIENT ET TARIFICATION EN TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: LA, LA, LA LA Ce cours permet à l élève d établir le coût d opérations complet des différents genres de services offerts par les compagnies de transport routier, qu il s agisse de services de transport local (messagerie), des services de longue distance en lots brisés ou en charges complètes TRANSPORT INTERNATIONAL Prérequis: LA LA LA Ce cours enseigne la planification des mouvements internationaux de marchandises selon différents modes de transport. L étudiant apprendra à identifier et recommander l itinéraire et le mode approprié à une situation donnée pour le transport de marchandises à l aide de la cueillette d informations pertinentes, de cartes spécialisées et par l utilisation de logiciels de conception d itinéraires tout en respectant la réglementation.

13 TARIFS, ACCORDS ÉCONOMIQUES INTERNATIONAUX ET DÉDOUANEMENTS DES MARCHANDISES EN TRANSPORT Cours associé: LA LA Avec ce cours, les étudiants apprendront à déterminer la tarification des produits en fonction du système harmonisé et à l égard des accords économiques internationaux; il permet aussi aux élèves de s approprier une démarche de recherche sur le commerce international, le marché des changes et les accords internationaux. Ce cours enseigne également les principales étapes du processus d importation et d exportation dans un contexte de mondialisation. Les étudiants seront en mesure de mettre en place toutes les procédures permettant le dédouanement de marchandises et la préparation des mains levées en appliquant toutes les formalités requises et en respectant les demandes des clients. Ils apprendront à se familiariser avec les lois, les réglementations et les procédures reliées aux douanes et à maîtriser les différentes étapes à accomplir pour assurer les dédouanements des marchandises importées ou pour prévoir l expédition de marchandises à l étranger. ENJEUX ENVIRONNEMENTAUX EN TRANSPORT Prérequis: Aucun LA On étudie de plus en plus l impacte des entreprises sur l environnement. Ce cours permet aux étudiants de se familiariser avec les divers enjeux environnementaux qu ont les entreprises de transport sur l environnement et les mesures qu ils peuvent prendre pour minimiser cet impacte. Ce cours examine aussi le transport de matières dangereuses ainsi que les précautions, demandes de permis et les règlementations qui y sont associées. GESTION DE LA CHAÎNE D APPROVISIONNEMENT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: LA, LA, LA LA Une gestion adéquate de la chaîne d approvisionnement est essentielle au succès des entreprises œuvrant en transport et logistique. Ce cours enseigne le concept de gestion d une chaîne d approvisionnement et ses composantes, ainsi que les enjeux et défis qui y sont rencontrés. STAGE TRANSPORT ET LOGISTIQUE Prérequis: LA, LA, LA LA Ce cours comprend deux composantes principales. La première couvre l étape préparatoire au stage et veut préparer les étudiants à se développer un réseau de ressources, faire des appels initiales pour se présenter et tenir un journal de bord pour leurs activités de recherche d emploi. La deuxième composante, le stage en industrie vise l étape finale du programme spécialiste en transport et logistique, et à comme but d offrir aux étudiants l opportunité de mettre en pratique les compétences acquises au cours du programme en milieu de travail. Les étudiants doivent compléter ce stage au sein d une entreprise de transport et logistique fonctionnelle.

14 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS INTRODUCTION TO TRANSPORTATION, LOGISTICS, AND GLOBAL GEOGRAPHY Pre-requisite: None LA This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles related to the transportation sector and to logistics, as well as a revision of global geography notions. By the end of the course, the student will have an understanding of the interrelationship of these two sectors, as well as a good grasp on global geography as it pertains to this type of industry. The course will also provide students with an understanding of the various job functions and positions in this milieu. EFFECTIVE BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisite: None LA This course is designed to enable students to effectively produce and present written documents, particularly technical reports. By the end of the course, students will recognize the importance of understanding the information they receive, and when necessary, will seek clarification; they will know how to organize this information and store it so that it can be rapidly retrieved. They will also learn how to process data in order to extract the relevant information for a specific need or assignment. APPLIED MATHEMATICS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisite: None LA This course is designed to enable students to: identify and perform the mathematical and statistical operations and computations relevant to the field transportation and logistics; perform estimations using transportation matrices and use knowledge of transportation networks and graphs to resolve problems related to the organization of transportation. ACCOUNTING CONCEPTS FOR LOGISTICS Pre-requisite: LA LA This course is designed to enable students to assess the relationship between costs, volume, and profits within various types of companies. Students will learn to classify different types of costs and to establish, interpret and analyse the financial statements and projections of service, manufacturing and industrial companies.

15 CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SALES Pre-requisite: None LA Effective customer service is crucial to any business. This course will provide students with the basic theoretical and practical foundation to provide effective customer service. Students will also gain knowledge in the area of sales. SECOND LANGUAGE FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LA/ LA LOGISTICS Pre-requisite: None In this course, which is offered in either French or English, students will learn to interpret written messages, technical documents, and oral requests as well as write technical messages and respond to simple requests, all in their second language. Students will also learn to translate vocabulary and terminology from their program of study into their second language. Students will have the opportunity to refine their second language skills through practical oral and written exercise. APPLIED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisite: None LA The course will provide students with a sound understanding of the common software applications, tools, and devices that are used in the transportation and logistics field. Students will learn how companies use this technology to increase efficiency and decrease costs. PRINCIPLES OF PURCHASING MANAGEMENT Pre-requisites: LA, LA LA This course allows students to understand all the implications related to choosing suppliers and to maintaining relationships with them. By the end of the course student will be able to select suppliers based on the needs of the company. WAREHOUSING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Pre-requisite: LA LA This course allows students to understand the importance of warehousing and inventory management. By the end of the course, students will be able to logically determine the inventory needed for production, meaning the right inventory, at the right time, at the right place, and in the right quantity. Students will also be able to ensure that merchandise is properly received, stored, and shipped.

16 NORTH AMERICAN TRANSPORT Co-requisite: LA Pre-requisites: LA, LA LA This course allows students to identify and recommend the itinerary and the appropriate mode of transportation for merchandise in a given situation; using pertinent information that has been collected, specialized maps, and specialized itinerary planning software, all while respecting transportation regulations. This course also allows students to efficiently manage transportation equipment and to be able to perform dispatching in a North American context. OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisites: LA, LA LA This course will enable students to assist in the management of ground transportation operations and to develop a merchandise transportation plan at a provincial level. This course permits students to gain a better understanding of the provincial laws related to road transportation as well as to perform dispatching while keeping in mind various requirements (regulations, seniority of personnel, available equipment, etc.), and with the help of software applications and the Internet. COST ANALYSIS AND PRICING FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisites: LA, LA LA LA This course gives students the ability to establish the full cost of operations for various types of services that road transportation companies can offer, from local transport (courier services) to long distance transport that may be either less-than-truckload or full loads. INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION Pre-requisites: LA LA LA This course covers the planning of international transportation of merchandise through various modes of transportation. Students will learn to identify and recommend an appropriate itinerary and mode of transportation for the transportation of merchandise in a given situation with the use of pertinent information, specialized maps, and with the help of itinerary planning software, and all while respecting applicable regulations.

17 TARIFFS, CUSTOMS AND LEGAL ISSUES IN TRANSPORTATION Co-requisite: LA LA In this course, students will learn how to determine the amount for tariffs on various goods as per the Harmonized Commodity Coding System (HS) and in regards to international economic agreements. Students will research the topic of international commerce, exchanges, and agreements. This course also allows students to understand the principle steps required for import and export within a global context. Students will be able to follow the procedures to prepare merchandise to go through customs and the preparation of documentation for customs release by following customs formalities while also respecting the demands of the clients. Students will learn about various laws, regulations, and procedures required for customs, and will practice the steps necessary to allow merchandise to clear customs and to prepare the shipment of merchandise abroad. ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN TRANSPORTATION Pre-requisite: None LA The impact that companies have on the environment is increasingly being examined. This course will provide students with an opportunity to learn about the various environmental impacts that transportation can have on the environment and the steps that companies can take to minimize this impact. This course will also examine the transportation of hazardous materials and the associated precautions, permits and regulations. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisites: LA, LA, LA LA Ensuring proper supply chain management is fundamental to the success of companies involved in transportation and logistics. This course will explore the concept of supply chain management, its integral components, as well as the issues and challenges faced in supply chain management. INTERNSHIP TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS Pre-requisites: LA, LA, LA LA The internship course consists of two main components. The first component deals with internship preparation, and is designed to prepare students to network, cold call, and track their employment search activities. These activities are closely monitored by the Internship Supervisor. The second component of the course is the internship, which is the final component of the Specialist in Transportation and Logistics Program and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills and competencies that they have developed throughout the program in a real-life setting. Students will be expected to complete their internship within a functional transportation and logistics environment.
