3 EDITORIAL ÉDITO Health, safety and environmental protection (HSE) are essential factors for any exploration-production activity to be sustainable and acceptable to our fellow citizens. Therefore, GDF SUEZ E&P International puts health and safety at the top of its priorities and does everything possible to preserve them. Through different initiatives, GDF SUEZ E&P International also demonstrated its commitment to environmental protection such as recycling platforms in the Dutch North Sea and the supply of electricity to the Amstel (Netherlands) or to the Gjøa (Norway) offshore platforms from the mainland, thus reducing CO 2 emissions. GDF SUEZ E&P International reconciles health and safety with development. The commissioning of Gudrun (Norway), Orca (The Netherlands/UK), Juliet (UK) and Amstel (The Netherlands) marks the beginning of a strong period of growth in production. In the longer term, ambitious projects currently in development such as Touat (Algeria), Cygnus (UK), Römerberg (Germany) and Jangkrik (Indonesia) and new projects in Brazil and Malaysia will take the baton and continue this growth. The skills and enthusiasm of GDF SUEZ E&P International s 1,875 employees, combined with the team spirit of all, mean we are able to rise to all these challenges. 7 GDF SUEZ E&P International has acquired the status of an exploration and production company that is recognised and respected by its peers. GDF SUEZ E&P International always carries out its work with respect for ethics and a view for sustainable development. For several years, GDF SUEZ E&P International has been consolidating its position in Europe and, in the meantime, developing new projects in different regions across the globe. Currently, most of the production of GDF SUEZ E&P International comes from its European affi liates: Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In 2014, three new platforms operated by or in partnership with GDF SUEZ E&P International, were put in production in the North Sea. At the same time, GDF SUEZ E&P International grows in high potential areas such as the Asia-Pacifi c region, the Caspian Sea, North Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. GDF SUEZ E&P International is carrying out ambitious exploration operations in these areas, using its technical skills to overcome numerous technological challenges. In 2014, the success rate of exploration wells was of 56% and 67 Mboe of resources (revisions included) were discovered following exploration activity. GDF SUEZ E&P International SA is shared by GDF SUEZ (70%) and China Investment Corporation (30%). Our HSE management system is in line with E&P industry recommendations and the principles of the ISO standard and the OHSAS reference. ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIETAL RESPONSIBILITY (ESR) GDF SUEZ ESR is structured towards three axis: Contributing/ensuring the development of energy solutions enabling the customers to reach their own sustainability objectives, Contributing/ensuring our responsible business conduct, Contributing/ensuring the development of responsible relationships with stakeholders in order to create shared value. Everywhere in the world, GDF SUEZ E&P International collaborates with representatives from various local stakeholders in order to meet the specifi c challenges raised by its local projects. For example, in the Netherlands, our affi liate is developing a continuous dialogue with the authorities, the local population, NGOs and other impacted stakeholders as to its development projects. In Algeria, GDF SUEZ E&P International implements, in partnership with local authorities, local development projects (wastewater treatment, agricultural skills, historical manuscripts conservation). The emphasis was put on exploration, both in mature areas in Europe and in areas with strong potential for development (Southeast Asia, North Africa and Latin America). 12 EUROPE EUROPE GDF SUEZ E&P International consolidates its position in Europe by relying on its operational excellence and experience in this region which includes mature areas and prospective basins. GDF SUEZ E&P International consolide sa position en Europe en s appuyant sur son excellence opérationnelle et son expérience dans cette région qui comprend des zones matures et prospectives. Germany: develop forward-looking projects and stabilise production in traditional oil and gas areas. Some 600 people work for GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH, helping to supply Europe with safe and secure energy it accounts for 16% and 7% of the country s oil and gas production respectively. With its partner companies, GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH jointly holds 172 exploration and production licences. As operator of 127 (out of 172) licences, GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH is solely responsible for all operations. With its considerable experience and modern technology, the company is maintaining production in mature fi elds such as those in north-western Germany. However, new projects are also under development, including gas fi eld developments in eastern Germany and the Römerberg oil fi eld within the town of Speyer. Exploration campaigns in the Rhine valley, in particular, present outstanding prospects for the future and secure the company s excellent standing in the German E&P business. 13 Norway: be recognised as one of the main operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS has built a solid portfolio of exploration and production licences since The affi liate operates the Gjøa fi eld and is a partner in several other fi elds on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, such as Njord, Fram and Gudrun. GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS is also partner in Snøhvit, the fi rst LNG project in Europe. The Barents Sea is a core area for the company. With Gjøa, GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS is one of the nine production fi eld operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This gas and oil fi eld in the Norwegian North Sea is one of the most signifi cant recent developments for GDF SUEZ. The Gjøa production facility provides many opportunities as a hub for the area, stimulating exploration activity and offering processing and transport capacities for the surrounding fi elds. 14 EUROPE EUROPE The Netherlands: maintain current production while pursuing new exploration potential. GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. is the largest offshore gas producer on the Dutch Continental Shelf. Operating in a mature area, the company is still discovering substantial reserves due to an extensive drilling program often using three drilling rigs at once. Thanks to its knowledgeable and dedicated workforce, various development projects are handled simultaneously. Early 2014, GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. announced fi rst oil production from its newly installed Q13a-A platform off the Dutch coast. The fi rst production of the L5a-D platform is expected in the course of The company currently operates more than 30 production platforms and forms a vital part of the energy supply of the Netherlands and several other countries. GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. is also operator of two gas pipeline transportation systems: Noordgastransport B.V. and NOGAT B.V.. Both companies own offshore pipeline systems and transport, and treat gas for producers on the Dutch, British, Danish and German Continental Shelves. GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. is continuously working on further improvement of safety, processes and technology. Since entering the region in 1997, the company has built up a substantial portfolio of assets in the Central and Southern North Sea, and West of Shetland, comprising more than 55 licences, 18 as operator at the end of Recent exploration discoveries demonstrate a strong commitment to an active exploration and appraisal drilling programme on the UK Continental Shelf. GDF SUEZ E&P International holds two licences in Algeria: The Touat licence: GDF SUEZ E&P International won in 2002 the exploration licence of Touat, located next to Adrar, in the Algerian Sahara; The Sud-Est Illizi licence where two gas discoveries were made in 2012 and The exploration and appraisal campaign carried out between 2003 and 2007 in Touat, by GDF SUEZ E&P International and SONATRACH, confi rmed the presence of important reserves. The estimated 2P reserves are 68.5 billion m 3 of natural gas and 8.5 million barrels of condensates. At plateau phase, gas production should reach 4.5 billion m 3 per year. In 2009, the Touat gas licence development plan was approved by the Algerian authorities. It allows the drilling of 41 production wells spread over ten fi elds. The fi rst drilling started during the summer of To date, 15 wells have been drilled. Three Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contracts were signed in 2013 and 2014 to cover the construction of the gas treatment plant, of the road and runway and of the living quarters. Azerbaijan is one of the main producers and exporters of hydrocarbons in the Caspian region and has originated the Southern Corridor Project to supply Europe with gas in the medium term. Located in the most northern region of Qatar, next to North Field, the biggest non associated gas fi eld in the world, block 4 covers an area of more than 2,500 km². A successful exploration campaign was performed from December 2012 to November 2013: a well was drilled and tested in the pre-khuff horizons (horizons located underneath the main reservoir of North Field) and confi rmed presence of gas. In 2009, GDF SUEZ E&P International acquired 20% of the participating interest in the Absheron offshore block, in the South Caspian Sea, alongside Total and the national Azeri company SOCAR, which each hold a 40% participating interest. In 2011, the consortium drilled an exploration well which reached a depth of 6,874 m and lead to a discovery. In 2012, the drilling of a side track toward the North of the structure confi rmed very promising results: the reserves are estimated at 350 billion m 3 of gas and 45 million tons of condensates. In 2013, the project entered into the development preparation phase to study technical and economic aspects. Concept was selected and defi ned in En mer Caspienne, préparer le développement du champ de gaz Absheron. This has given GDF SUEZ E&P International a strategic position to significantly grow its activities and seize opportunities in the Asian LNG market. The Project aims to produce natural gas from the Petrel, Tern and Frigate fi elds located in the Bonaparte Basin, in the Timor Sea, 250 kilometres west of the northern Australian city of Darwin. The 2C resources are estimated at 80.8 billion m 3 of gas. The Project entered into pre-feed phase in 2011 and drilled an appraisal well. After an extensive process, GDF SUEZ and Santos confi rmed in June 2014 that fl oating liquefi ed natural gas (FLNG) technology is a credible option but decided to review alternative development concepts, including a pipeline connection to Darwin.
