An LP-cylinder not connected for use shall not be stored in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. DANGER CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD This appliance can produce carbon monoxide which has no odor. WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS: Do NOT try lighting any appliance. Do NOT touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor s phone. Follow the gas supplier s instructions. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department. 3. Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier. 4. Save these instructions for future reference. 5. If you are assembling this unit for someone else, give this manual to him or her to read and save for future reference. WARNING This outdoor firepit, from the factory, is for use with LP gas only. The conversion to or attempted use of natural gas in this outdoor firepit is dangerous, may cause bodily harm and will void your warranty. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit for indoor heating. TOXIC carbon monoxide fumes can accumulate and cause asphyxiation. 3

4 SAFETY INFORMATION LP gas characteristics: LP gas is flammable and hazardous if handled improperly. Become aware of the characteristics before using any LP gas product. LP gas is explosive under pressure, heavier than air, and settles/pools in low areas. LP gas in its natural state has no odor. For your safety, an odorant is added that smells like rotten cabbage. Contact with LP gas can cause freeze burns to skin. LP gas tank needed to operate. Only tanks marked propane may be used. The LP gas cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Specifications for LP-Gas Cylinders, or the Standard for Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Commission, CAN/ CSA-B339 as applicable. LP gas tank must be arranged for vapor withdrawal. The LP gas tank must have a listed overfilling prevention device (OPD) and a QCCI or Type I (CGA810) LP gas tank connection. The LP gas tank must have a tank collar to protect the tank valve. Never use an LP gas tank with a damaged body, valve, collar or footing. Dented or rusted LP gas tanks may be hazardous and should be checked by your LP gas supplier prior to use. The LP gas tank should not be dropped or handled roughly. Tanks must be stored outdoors, out of the reach of children and must not be stored in a building, garage or any other enclosed area. Your LP gas tank must never be stored where temperatures can reach over 125 F. Do NOT insert any tool or foreign object into the valve outlet or safety relief valve. You may damage the valve and cause a leak. Leaking propane may result in explosion, fire, severe personal injury or death. Never keep an LP gas tank in a hot car or trunk. Heat will cause the gas pressure to increase, which may open the relief valve and allow gas to escape. Place dust cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the cylinder is not in use. Only install the type of dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet that is provided with the cylinder valve. Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage of propane. Do NOT store a spare LP gas tank under or near this appliance. Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 percent full. A fire causing serious injury or damage to property may occur if the above is not followed exactly. You must follow all instructions in the Checking for Leaks section on page 13 before operating. To prevent a fire or explosion when testing for a leak: Always perform a leak test before lighting this outdoor firepit and each time the tank is connected for use. No smoking. Do NOT use or permit sources of ignition in the area while conducting a leak test. Conduct the leak test outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Do NOT use matches, lighters or a flame to check for leaks. The use of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs may impair the consumer s ability to properly assemble or safely operate the appliance. Strong odors, colds, sinus congestion, etc. may prevent the detection of propane. Use caution and common sense when testing for leaks. 4

5 SAFETY INFORMATION Do NOT use this outdoor firepit until any and all leaks are corrected. If you are unable to stop a leak, disconnect the LP gas supply. Call a gas appliance serviceman or your local LP gas supplier. This outdoor firepit is NOT to be operated by children. Do NOT wear flammable or loose clothing when operating this outdoor firepit. Never lean over this outdoor firepit when lighting or when in use. Certain areas of this outdoor firepit when in use will become too hot to touch. To avoid burns, do not touch hot surfaces until the unit has completely cooled (about 45 minutes), unless you are wearing protective gear (such as insulated pot holders or heat-resistant gloves/mittens). Do NOT leave a lit outdoor firepit unattended, especially around children and pets. Children and adults should be alerted to the hazards of high surface temperatures and should stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition. Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the area of the appliance. Fire logs, glass and lava rock are very hot. Keep children or pets at a safe distance from this appliance. Use protective gloves when assembling this product. Do NOT force parts together as this can result in personal injury or damage to the product. Do NOT sit or stand on the mantle or any part of this appliance. Do NOT throw anything onto the fire when the unit is in operation. Death, serious injury or damage to property may occur if the above is not followed exactly. CAUTION Do NOT operate this appliance without reading OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS on page 12. This appliance is for outdoor use only, and should NOT be used in a building, garage or any other enclosed area. Do NOT operate, light or use this appliance within 10 feet of walls, structures or buildings. For residential use only. This outdoor firepit is NOT for commercial use. This outdoor firepit is safety certified for use in the United States and/or Canada only. Do NOT modify for use in any other location. Modification will result in a safety hazard and will void your warranty. Apartment dwellers: Check with management to learn the requirements and fire codes for using a liquid propane (LP) gas outdoor firepit in your apartment complex. If allowed, use outside on the ground floor with a 10-foot clearance from any structure. Do NOT use on or under balconies. Your outdoor firepit has been checked at all factory connections for leaks. Recheck all connections as described in the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS section on page 12, as shipping can loosen connections. Check for leaks even if your unit was assembled for you by someone else. Do NOT operate if a gas leak is present. Gas leaks may cause a fire or explosion. Do NOT store or use gasoline or other flammable liquids or vapors within 25 feet of this appliance. Do NOT use in an explosive atmosphere. Keep outdoor firepit area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids. This outdoor firepit is NOT to be used in or on boats or recreational vehicles. Do NOT connect to a remote gas supply. Never attempt to attach this outdoor firepit to the self-contained LP gas system of a camper trailer, motor home or house. 5

6 SAFETY INFORMATION Always use in accordance with all applicable local, state and national codes. Contact your local fire department for details on outdoor burning. When using this outdoor firepit, exercise the same precautions you would with any open fire. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit without reading the entire Owner s Manual. Do NOT burn solid fuels such as: wood, charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, manufactured logs, driftwood, trash, leaves, paper, cardboard, plywood, painted/stained/pressure treated wood in this outdoor firepit. It is essential to keep the outdoor firepit s valve compartment, burners, and circulating air passages clean. Inspect outdoor firepit before each use. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit until it is COMPLETELY assembled and all parts are securely fastened and tightened. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit near automobiles, trucks, vans or recreational vehicles. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit under any overhang or near any unprotected combustible constructions. Avoid using near or under overhanging trees and shrubs. Always use this outdoor firepit on a hard, level, non-combustible surface such as concrete, rock or stone. An asphalt or blacktop surface may not be acceptable for this purpose. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit for cooking. Do NOT use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part or control system and any gas control which has been under water. Do NOT use in windy conditions. Do NOT use this outdoor firepit unless burner is securely in place. Keep all electrical cords away from this outdoor firepit during use. Do NOT hang or place clothing or other flammable material on or near this appliance. Any guard or other protective device removed for servicing the appliance must be replaced prior to operating the appliance. If applicable, protective cover must be removed when burner is in operation. Do NOT attempt to move outdoor firepit when in use. Allow the outdoor firepit to cool before moving or storing. This outdoor firepit should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected on a regular basis. Clean and inspect the hose before each use of the appliance. If there is evidence of abrasion, wear, cuts or leaks, the hose must be replaced prior to the appliance being operated. Inspect the burner before each use of the appliance. If there is evidence of burner damage, the burner must be replaced prior to the appliance being operated. Use only the burner specified by the manufacturer. This outdoor firepit should be inspected at least annually by a qualified service person. Depending on amount of use, more frequent cleaning may be required. Do NOT operate until all parts have been repaired or replaced. Use only the regulator and hose assembly provided. Use only the replacement regulator and hose assembly specified by the manufacturer. Use only the manufacturer s factory-authorized parts. The use of any part that is not factoryauthorized can be dangerous and will void your warranty. Storage of this outdoor firepit indoors is permissible only if the tank is disconnected, removed from the outdoor firepit and properly stored outdoors. Do NOT attempt to disconnect the gas regulator from the tank or any gas fitting while the outdoor firepit is in use. If the outdoor firepit is not in use, the gas must be turned off at the supply tank. The pressure regulator is set for 11 inches of water column. 6

7 SAFETY INFORMATION The maximum inlet gas pressure for this outdoor firepit is 11 inches of water column. Before pressure testing, close LP gas tank valve and disconnect gas regulator. The gas supply piping system must test at pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kpa). The opening of the tank collar should face toward the door side for easy access. Do NOT store any combustible materials in the base enclosure. CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65: Combustion by-products produced when using this product contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm. Wash your hands after handling this product. Handling the brass material on this product exposes you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. 7

Compare parts with package contents list and hardware contents list. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble the product. For Easiest Assembly: Select an area where you will assemble this product. To protect components, choose a smooth nonabrasive surface free of cracks or openings. Spread out all parts. Tighten all hardware connections by hand first. Then, before completing each step, go back and fully tighten all hardware. Be careful not to overtighten, as this could damage surfaces or strip threads. For best results, complete each step in the order presented. 10 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 1. With hearth (G) upside down, attach rear legs (I), left front leg (M) and right front leg (N) to hearth (G) using M6 x 12 mm screws (CC). Hardware Used cc M6 x 12 mm Small Screw x Secure side panels (H) to assembly using M5 x 25 mm screws (BB). Hardware Used M5 x 25 mm BB Screw x Attach the bottom frame (K) to the front right leg (N) and front left leg (M) using M5 x 12 mm screws (AA). Hardware Used AA M5 x 12 mm Screw x

11 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 4. Attach the door (P) to the front right leg (N) using M6 x 12 mm step screw (DD). Hardware Used DD M6 x 12 mm Step Screw x Turn assembly upright, then place lava rocks (Q) into bowl assembly (C). Note: Lava rocks should be in. long. Approximately 6.61 lbs. of lava rocks are needed. 5 CAUTION Do NOT dump lava rocks out of package. Carefully place lava rocks by hand so dust does not clog burner. CAUTION Do NOT cover pilot housing (A). Refer to OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS on page 12 to complete installation. 11

12 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS To operate the item, you will need one precisionfilled standard LP grill gas tank (sold separately) with external valve threads (Figure 1). WARNING Make sure LP gas tank valve is closed lb 17.9 in. / 45.5 cm CAUTION LP gas tank must be properly disconnected and removed prior to moving this outdoor firepit. Inserting LP Gas Tank 1. Loosen LP gas tank retainer knob (L) by turning it counterclockwise (Figure 2). 2. Place precision-filled LP gas tank upright into hole in bottom frame (K) so the tank valve is facing the gas line connection (Figure 3). 3. Secure tank by turning LP gas tank retainer knob (L) clockwise until tight (Figure 4) in. / 31 cm Connecting LP Gas Tank 1. Before connecting, be sure there is no debris caught in the head of the LP gas tank, head of the regulator valve or in the head of the burner or burner ports. 2. Connect regulator/hose assembly (D) to tank by turning the preassembled knob clockwise until it stops (Figure 5). 3 Disconnecting LP Gas Tank 1. Before disconnecting, make sure the LP gas tank valve is CLOSED. 2. Disconnect regulator/hose assembly (D) from LP gas tank by turning the preassembled knob counterclockwise until it is loose (Figure 6). 3. Place the protective cap cover on the LP gas tank and store the tank outdoors in a wellventilated area out of direct sunlight. 4 12

13 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Checking for Leaks WARNING Before using this outdoor firepit, make sure you have read, understand and are following all information provided in the SAFETY INFORMATION on page 2. Failure to follow those instructions can cause death, serious injury or property damage. Failure to inspect this connection or follow these instructions could cause a fire or an explosion which can cause death, serious bodily injury or damage to property. Burner Connections 1. Make sure the regulator hose and valve connections are securely fastened to the burner and the tank. 2. Visually check the connection between the burner/venturi tube and orifice. 3. Make sure the burner/venturi tube fits over the orifice. 4. Please refer to diagrams for proper installation (Figures 7 and 8). 5. If the burner/venturi tube does not rest flush to the orifice as shown, contact customer service LP Gas Connection Burner Venturi Pipe Tank/Gas Line Connection 1. Make 2-3 oz. of leak detection solution by mixing one part liquid dishwashing soap with three parts water. 2. Make sure control knob (E) is in the OFF position (Figure 9). 3. Connect LP gas tank per Connection LP Gas Tank section on page Turn LP gas tank valve to OPEN. 5. Spoon several drops of solution, or use a squirt bottle, at all the circled locations (Figures 7 and 8). a. If any bubbles appear, turn LP gas tank valve to CLOSED, reconnect and re-test. b. If you continue to see bubbles after several attempts, turn LP gas tank valve to CLOSED and disconnect LP gas tank per Disconnecting LP Gas Tank section on page 12. Contact customer service. c. If no bubbles appear after one minute, turn LP gas tank valve to CLOSED, wipe away solution and proceed. 8 LP Gas Valve with Orifice Burner Supply Tube 13

14 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Before Each Use: 1. Keep the outdoor firepit area clear and free from any combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids. 2. Do NOT obstruct the flow of the combustion of LP gas and the ventilation of air. 3. Keep the ventilation opening(s) of the LP gas tank area free and clear from debris. 4. See CARE AND MAINTENANCE on page 15 for proper cleaning instructions. 5. Check all gas connections for leaks. 6. Check components for any signs of damage or rust. 7. Check for obstructions of airflow to the burner. Spiders, insects and webs can clog the burner/ venturi tube. A clogged burner/venturi tube can lead to a fire. 8. If damage to any component is detected, do NOT operate until repairs are completed. Lighting CAUTION Keep outdoor gas appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids. Do NOT obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air. Check and clean burner/venturi tubes for insects and insect nests. A clogged tube can lead to a fire. Attempting to light the burner with a cover on it may cause an explosion. After lighting - using a firepit tool and heat-resistant gloves (none included), carefully move the lava rocks back to their proper position, being careful to avoid the flame. If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn burner control knob (E) to OFF, wait 5 minutes, fan with a newspaper or magazine, and repeat lighting procedure. 1. Make sure all labels, packaging and protective films have been removed from the outdoor firepit. 2. Check for obstructions of airflow to the burner. OFF / APAGADO Spiders, insects and webs can clog the 9 burner/venturi tube. A clogged burner tube can lead to a fire. 3. Control knob (E) must be in the OFF E position (Figure 9). 4. Clear small area of lava rocks (Q) away from the pilot housing (A). 5. Connect LP gas tank per Connecting LP Gas Tank section on page Turn LP gas tank valve to OPEN. 7. Push and turn control knob (E) to (HIGH). The burner should light. If it does not, repeat 10 up to three times. 8. After 20 seconds, release and turn control knob counterclockwise to adjust flame to desired height. 9. If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, turn burner control knob to OFF, wait 5 minutes, fan with a newspaper or magazine, and repeat lighting procedure. 14

15 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 10. If igniter does not light burner: a. Wearing heat-resistant gloves, long-lit match or long-lit butane lighter (neither included) near the pilot housing (A) (Figure 10). b. Push and turn control knob (E) to (LOW). c. Remove match/lighter once burner is lit. 11. After lighting, observe the burner flame. Make sure all burner ports are lit and flame height matches illustration (Figure 11). 11 Turning Off 1. Turn LP gas tank valve to CLOSED. 2. Turn control knob (E) to the OFF position. Note: A poof sound is normal as the last of the LP gas is burned. 3. Disconnect LP gas tank per Disconnecting LP Gas Tank section on page 12 Before Storing 1. Turn LP gas tank valve to CLOSED. 2. Turn control knob (E) to the OFF position. 3. Disconnect LP gas tank per Disconnecting LP Gas Tank section on page Clean all surfaces. 5. Lightly coat the burner with cooking oil to prevent excess rusting. 6. Place lid (F) onto outdoor firepit. 7. Cover this outdoor firepit with vinyl cover (R). CARE AND MAINTENANCE CAUTION: All cleaning and maintenance should be done when outdoor firepit is cool and with the fuel supply disconnected. Do NOT clean any outdoor firepit part in a self-cleaning oven. The extreme heat will damage the finish. Do NOT enlarge valve orifices or burner ports when cleaning the valves or burners. Store in a cool and dry location away from children and pets. Notices 1. This outdoor firepit should be thoroughly cleaned and inspected on a regular basis. 2. Abrasive cleaners will damage this product. 3. Never use oven cleaner to clean any part of this outdoor firepit. Cleaning Surfaces 1. Wipe surfaces clean with mild dishwashing detergent or baking soda mixed with water. 2. For stubborn stains, use a citrus-based cleaner and a nylon scrubbing brush. 3. Rinse clean with water. 4. Allow to air dry. 15

Caractéristiques du propane liquide : Le propane liquide est inflammable et dangereux s il est manipulé incorrectement. Informezvous de ses caractéristiques avant d utiliser tout produit au propane liquide. Le propane liquide est explosif sous pression et plus lourd que l air, et il s accumule dans les endroits profonds. À son état naturel, le gaz propane liquide est inodore. Pour votre sécurité, une substance odorante sentant le chou pourri est ajoutée. Au contact de la peau, le propane liquide peut causer des brûlures par le froid. L utilisation de cet article nécessite une bouteille de propane liquide. Seules les bouteilles portant l indication «Propane» conviennent. La bouteille de propane liquide doit être fabriquée et identifiée conformément aux normes pour les réservoirs de propane liquide du U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ou à la norme nationale du Canada (CAN/CSA-B339), «Bouteilles et tubes utilisés pour le transport des marchandises dangereuses», selon le cas. La bouteille de propane liquide doit être placée de façon à permettre l évacuation des vapeurs. La bouteille de propane liquide doit être munie d un dispositif reconnu de prévention des troppleins et d un raccord pour bouteille de propane liquide QCCI ou de type I (CGA810). La bouteille de propane liquide doit être munie d un collier servant à protéger le robinet de la bouteille. N utilisez jamais une bouteille de propane liquide dont le corps, le robinet, le collier ou le socle est endommagé. Les bouteilles de propane liquide bosselées ou rouillées peuvent être dangereuses et doivent être vérifiées par votre fournisseur de propane liquide avant d être utilisées. Prenez soin de ne pas échapper la bouteille de propane liquide et de ne pas la manipuler rudement. Les bouteilles doivent être entreposées à l extérieur et placées hors de la portée des enfants. Elles ne doivent pas être entreposées dans un immeuble, un garage ou tout autre espace clos. Il ne faut jamais entreposer votre bouteille de propane liquide dans un endroit où la température peut excéder 51,7 C. N insérez AUCUN outil ou corps étranger dans le tuyau de sortie du robinet ni dans la soupape de sécurité. Vous pourriez endommager le robinet et provoquer une fuite. Une fuite de propane peut causer une explosion, un incendie, des blessures graves ou la mort. Ne laissez jamais une bouteille de propane liquide dans une voiture exposée à la chaleur ou dans un coffre de voiture. La chaleur entraînera une augmentation de la pression du gaz, ce qui risque de faire ouvrir la soupape de sécurité et de laisser le gaz s échapper. Mettez le capuchon protecteur sur l orifice de sortie du robinet de la bouteille lorsque celle-ci n est pas utilisée. Utilisez uniquement des capuchons protecteurs du même type que celui fourni avec le robinet de la bouteille. D autres types de capuchon ou de bouchon peuvent laisser fuir le propane. Ne rangez PAS une bouteille de propane liquide de rechange sous l appareil ou à proximité de celui-ci. Ne remplissez jamais la bouteille à plus de 80 % de sa capacité. Le non-respect des consignes qui précèdent peut entraîner un incendie susceptible de causer des dommages matériels ou des blessures graves. 23

Pour prévenir les incendies ou les explosions lorsque vous tentez de détecter les fuites : Effectuez toujours un essai d étanchéité avant d allumer le foyer d extérieur et chaque fois qu une bouteille est raccordée en vue de son utilisation. Ne fumez pas. N utilisez PAS et n acceptez PAS la présence d autres sources d inflammation sur les lieux lorsque vous tentez de détecter des fuites. Effectuez l essai d étanchéité à l extérieur dans un endroit bien aéré. N utilisez PAS d allumette, de briquet, ni de flamme pour détecter les fuites de gaz. L alcool, les médicaments sous ordonnance et les médicaments vendus sans ordonnance peuvent affecter les facultés du consommateur, l empêchant d assembler cet appareil correctement ou de l utiliser de manière sécuritaire. Lorsque ce foyer d extérieur est en marche, certaines de ses parties deviennent trop chaudes pour être touchées. Pour éviter de vous brûler, ne touchez pas aux surfaces chaudes avant que l appareil ne soit complètement refroidi (environ 45 minutes), à moins d utiliser des articles de protection (par exemple, des poignées isolées ou des gants/mitaines résistant à la chaleur). Avant de mettre l appareil en marche, replacez tout écran ou autre dispositif de protection ayant été retiré lors de l entretien. S il y a lieu, retirez la housse protectrice lorsque le brûleur est en marche. Ne tentez PAS de déplacer le foyer d extérieur lorsqu il est en marche. Attendez que le foyer d extérieur soit complètement refroidi avant de le déplacer ou de le ranger. Nettoyez à fond et examinez régulièrement ce foyer d extérieur. Nettoyez et inspectez le tuyau avant chaque utilisation de l appareil. Si le tuyau présente des traces d usure ou d abrasion, des coupures ou des fuites, vous devrez le remplacer avant d utiliser l appareil. Inspectez le brûleur avant chaque utilisation de l appareil. Si vous constatez des dommages, vous devrez remplacer le brûleur avant d utiliser l appareil. Utilisez uniquement le brûleur indiqué par le fabricant. Ce foyer d extérieur doit être inspecté au moins une fois par année par une personne qualifiée. Selon la fréquence d utilisation, un nettoyage plus fréquent peut s avérer nécessaire. N utilisez PAS l article tant que les pièces n ont pas toutes été réparées ou remplacées. Utilisez uniquement l ensemble régulateur/tuyau fourni. Utilisez uniquement l ensemble régulateur/ tuyau de rechange indiqué par le fabricant. N utilisez que des pièces autorisées par le fabricant. L utilisation de pièces non autorisées pourrait s avérer dangereuse et annulerait votre garantie. Il est permis d entreposer ce foyer d extérieur à l intérieur uniquement si la bouteille de gaz est déconnectée, retirée du foyer d extérieur et rangée correctement à l extérieur. Ne tentez PAS de débrancher le régulateur de gaz de la bouteille ou tout raccord de gaz lorsque le foyer d extérieur est en marche. Fermez le robinet de la bouteille pour couper l alimentation en gaz lorsque le foyer d extérieur n est pas en marche. Le régulateur de pression est réglé pour une pression de 27,94 cm de colonne d eau. La pression d alimentation en gaz maximale de ce foyer d extérieur est de 27,94 cm de colonne d eau. Avant de vérifier la pression, fermez le robinet de la bouteille de propane liquide et débranchez le régulateur de gaz. La pression du système de tuyauterie d alimentation en gaz doit être de 3,5 kpa (0,5 lb/po 2 ) ou moins. L ouverture du collier de la bouteille doit être orientée vers le côté de la porte pour faciliter l accès. N entreposez PAS de matériaux combustibles dans la base.
