We will also discuss the gaps in our knowledge and propose an agenda for future research. The key points presented will be 1) The high frequency of repeated shaking (50%), probable yet underestimated; 2) The abnormal behavior of children immediately after being shaken and; 3) The role of brain imaging as a strong indicator of age different injuries. Levin, MD, MHSc, Chief, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Genetics, Wills Eye Hospital (Philadelphia, PA, USA) Retinal hemorrhages can be seen in children from many different etiologies including retinal and systemic disorders. It is critical for physicians to discern these caused from abusive head trauma. In addition to appropriate systemic evaluations and related laboratory and radiologic investigations, detailing the specific types, distribution, number and patterns of retinal hemorrhage can be essential. Although there is no pathognomonic specific retinal finding for abuse, in the context of systemic, laboratory and radiologic findings, certain types and distributions of retinal hemorrhage become more specific for abusive head injury where other patterns of hemorrhagic retinopathy may be nonspecific or diagnostic of other entities unrelated to child abuse. The talk will also consider predictors of those outcomes, in order to promote improved follow-up of children who sustained such injuries. Dr. Block has been nominated for the Aesculapian teaching award six times, winning on three occasions. Dr. Block has been awarded the prestigious Stanton L. Young Master Teacher Award. Les étudiants de 1 er cycle peuvent s inscrire pour US$ soit (plus la TVA US$77.42 ou 58.80) mais ils doivent impérativement être actuellement inscrits dans des études en rapport avec le sujet traité. Un récépissé d inscription sera exigé. Nous ne proposons pas de tarif de groupe et nous ne faisons pas de remise.
