It appears firom these two dooyumts that both the President of the Sonate of the Free City and the High Comm! esioner of the Xeague of Mations request the Council to he good efco-cgh to econsider the p o sitio n o f the R ifle Factory at Danzig. In h is report, the High Commissioner sta tes that he i s onvtnced that i t would he most unde s ir ah le to perm it the R ifle Factory at Danzig to work a day longer than i s absolutely necessary; hut he fe e ls at the same time hound to sta te that in h is opinion the clo sin g of t h is factory would he at turfed hy even more unfortunate r e su lts than the granting o f authority for i t to oantinue working fo r a lim ited period. The High Ccmmtgeioner requests the Council to authorise the factory to eontinue the manufacture of sporting weapons (fu s ils de chas se ) and to take steps to hand over to the City o f Danzig the r if le factory, together with i t s whole plant. The High Commissioner points out that arrangemmts have heen B de, or are being made, with a view to c onvarting th^ Ini île factory into a factory for the manufacture o f typew riters, bicycles and sewing machines, and to r e str ic tin g the ros-nufaoture o f arms to that of sporting weapons (fu s ils de chasse) which could not he used hy an Army.
