2 This newspaper passes on the history of EUROPEL, the outstanding events of its life relates her evolution in an overview of the actions undertaken, carried through to a successful conclusion or stopped, collect the texts the association is strictly obliged to keep up. It gives to dairy teachers the possibility to voice their suggestions, their proposals and to express the subjects that can be examined. It is the voice and the memory of EUROPEL. Its first nine issues were published on paper and sent to all the members of the association. The tenth and next will be online on the web available for consultation by all. They could be printed by those who want to complete their collection. Ce journal transmet l histoire d EUROPEL, les événements marquants de sa vie, retrace son évolution en exposant les actions engagées, menées à bien ou arrêtées, recueille les textes que l association doit obligatoirement conserver. Il offre aux enseignants laitiers la possibilité d exprimer leurs suggestions, leurs propositions et d énoncer les sujets susceptibles d être étudiés. Il en est la voix et la mémoire. Ses neuf premiers numéros ont été produits sur papier et adressés à tous les membres de l association. Le dixième et les suivants seront sur internet consultables par tous. 5 1. Editorial. Every two years an Europel Journal is written. In former days the report was sent to members on paper, nowadays it is placed on the web site of Europel. In this Journal the events of 2010 and 2011 are summarized, and it is prepared by Elena Lopez Colmenero. Elena, thank you very much for this! The year 2010 started with the preparation of the 20 th anniversary of Europel, during the board meeting in La Roche sur Foron. The celebration was also in La Roche, in October During these days there took place a symposium, the European Dairy Sensory Contest and of course the General Assembly. There was also a lot of discussion about future. It was also the moment that Mr. Mathieu, who founded Europel, decided to put an end to his activities. Mr. Mathieu, thanks again for all the effort, time and energy you put in Europel. More about the meeting in La Roche you can read in this Journal. This Journal also gives the results of the XIIIth European Dairy Sensory Contest, which was organized in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, May In September there was a board meeting in Falticeni, Romania. The next Europel meeting, as well as the European Dairy Sensory Contest, will take place there April I hope to meet you all there, having a good meeting, exchanging information, discussion future, and so on. Pendant les premières années, était envoyé aux partenaires en papier, mais aujourd hui est distribué aux partenaires para e mail et mis sur le web de l association. L année 2010 a commencé avec la préparation du vingtième anniversaire d Europel, pour ce la réunion du conseil à LaRoche sur Foron. La célébration de l anniversaire était aussi à LaRoche, en Octobre Pendant ces jours il y avait une conférence, Le concours europeen de l analyse sensorielle et bien sûr, l Assemblée Générale. Il y avait de nombreuses discussions sur l avenir. Dans ce momento, Monsieur Mathieu, fondateur d Europel, a décidé de mettre fin á leurs activités au sein de l association. Monsieur Mathieu, merci pour l effort, le temps et l énergie que vous avez aporté a Europel. Le rapport des activités menées à La Roche est dans ce journal. Il comprend aussi les résultats du XIII Concours d Analyse Sensorielle, organisé en Leeuwardeen., Pays Bas, Avril En septembre 2011, le Conseil s est réuni à Falticeni Rumania, pour préparer la nouvelle réunion de l Assemblé générale et le concours d Analyse Sensorial qui auront lieu là au printemps de (18 21 avril). 5

Cada dos años se escribe un nuevo periódico de EUROPEL. Durante los primeros años, se enviaba a los socios en papel, pero en la actualidad se distribuye a los socios por correo electrónico y se cuelga en el website de la asociación. En esta nueva entrega se resumen los eventos y actividades de los años 2110 y 2011 y la información ha sido organizada por Elena López Colmenero. Elena, gracias por hacerlo!. El año 2010 empezó con la preparación del 20º Aniversario de Europel, para ello la junta se reunión en La Roche sur Foron. La Celebración del Aniversario fue igualmente en La Roche, en Octubre del Durante esos días tuvo lugar una Conferencia, el Concurso Europeo de Análisis Sensorial y por supuesto la Asamblea General. Hubo muchas discusiones sobre el futuro Fue también ese el momento en el que Mr Mathieu, fundador de Europel, decidió finalizar sus actividades dentro de la asociación. Mr. Mathuie, gracias de nuevo por el esfuerzo, tiempo y energía que ha puesto que Europel. El informe de las actividades llevadas a cabo en La Roche está en este periódico. Se incluyen también los resultados del XIII Consurso de Análisis Sensorial, organizado en Leeuwardeen, Paises bajos, del 18 al 21 de abril de 2011.En Septiembre de 2011, la Junta de Europel se reunió de nuevo en Falticeni Rumania, para preparar la nueva Reunión de la Asamble General y el Concurso de Análisis Sensorial que tendrán lugar allí en la primavera del ( de abril). Espero que nos encontremos allí de nuevo, intercambiado información y teniendo fructíferas discusiones sobre el futuro y disfrutando del tiempo en común. 7 Task to full fill: 1. Europel Newspaper To prepare the next newpaper of Europel before the end of December 2011, to publish it on the first quarter Elena will compile all the information and Jappie will prepare the editorial for number Finalcials. Our treasurer, Sergio Romeu, will leave ENILV and also Europel board next November. Someone in Enilv will continue with his job until the next General Assembly where it should validate the next treasurer. Before Sergio s departure: Order the payment of the expenses of this meeting to board before leaving and send once more the invoice to not paying members. Fill in the invoices the name of the institution and the contact person in order to make the process easier for partners. Finish working on the new database with Europel members, but only with those who paid the last 3 or 4 years, according the data recovered from Belgium. At the end, the financial database will combine data in order to create invoices in a automatically way. He has completed the original database with administrative contacts. Elena has included this information on the general database and will transfer this also to the web database and send a copy to all board members. The last financial overview has been checked by the board. Everything is clear now. We discussed about synergies EUROPEL AEDIL. The board agrees that it is compulsory look for synergies. Jappie will contact Matti Tapaila to know the place and date for the next Aedil assembly. The board assumes that may be Jappie should go to this assembly. 3. Members: Elena has several e mails addresses sent by Matti and Mr Mathieu in order to introduce EUROPEL for possible new members. For the next GA ( General Assembly) it will be send an e mail to all those addresses inviting people to joins us in Romania. Only people that come to Romania or that answer the e maill will be included in General database to receive general mails. The e mail will content an explanation about what Eurpel is, the students exchanges and the sensory contests. In order to assure a good participation from Romania, Monica will send to Elena contacts from people working on dairy in Rumania and also in surrounding countries. Jappie should contact Mr Pescket from Germany. His institution has been paying for years, but they don t take part in Europel activities. 7

8 4. Next General Assembly. The board fix the data for the next GA for 18th till 21st or 22nd of April 2012 in Falticeni. Monica will invite people from Dairy Industry for the symposium. Registration fee: 30 per person. Elena will send to Monica al forms used in Lugo: Registration forms, Hotel reservation, internal transport etc. Jappie will send forms and files used last year in Leeuwarden. Communications: fist mail 15th of October with data, place an preliminary program for the GA. Next mail with progress: 15th of December (together with Christmas wishes, second program and registration forms). An e mail every month. 1st of march : Closing of registration period. Monica will check the different options to arrive from Bucharest to Falticeni : Bus, other airports Check with Tarom the possibility to increase the number of seats in the flight from Bucharest to Suceava. Monica will organize a working team, because the work of organizing the GA and the contest is too much for only one person. 3. Europel general assembly report, La Roche sur Foron, France, October Twenty years ago, at ENILV in La Roche sur Foron, Mr Jacques Mathieu, a teacher in chemistry, with his wife Sylviane, a teacher in French, founded the European Alliance of Dairy Teachers EADT or EUROPEL. An association whose goal is to make links between dairy teachers, to share professional information between them, to allow exchanges of their students, to create pedagogical tools For 20 years, several Chairmen followed one another : at first a Greek Chairman (Mr Kalanzopoulos), then a French one (Mr Marrié), afterwards a Spanish Chairwoman (Mrs Barcina), then a Dutch Chairman (Mr Michielsen), a Finnish one (Mr Tapaila) and again a Dutch one, our present President (Mr de Jong). General Assemblies moved through Europe, from La Roche sur Foron to Athens, from Ghent to Pamplona, from Delft to Lodi, from Odense to Murcia, from Leeuwarden to Hämeenlinna, from Porto to Melle, from Lugo to La Roche sur Foron. Numerous symposiums took place, many visits in dairy companies were made along these 20 years. The sensorial evaluation Contest was born and allowed many European students to compete in Cremona, Alkmaar, Murcia, Madrid, Hämeenlinna, Aurillac, Surgères, Poligny, Mamirolle and La Roche. Please forgive me if I forget some places! And it seems natural that EUROPEL members joined again in this year 2010 in La Roche sur Foron, the very birthplace of our association, to celebrate its 20 th anniversary. For the third time, after the symposium about dairy proteins in 1993, after the dairy decade in 2000, ENILV welcomed its guests in La Roche sur Foron from 14 to 16 October. These three days saw the organisation of three different events : the symposium about «The current trends related to research and dairy industry in France and in the European Union» for both teachers and manufacturers, the European sensory evaluation Contest for students and finally, the General Assembly for EUROPEL members. These three days gathered for the first time students and teachers in a same place at the same time which was appreciated by everybody. We were numerous : nearly one hundred participants in the symposium, 54 European students for the Contest and 26 active members for the General Assembly, gathered for this event and coming from 9 different countries : Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and even a non European country Japan. Every EUROPEL member could successively attend the symposium (from Thursday morning to Friday noon) then the General Assembly (from Friday noon to Saturday evening) whereas the students had their own programme for the three days. They took part in the Contest on Thursday morning, went visiting two cheese companies on Thursday afternoon, observed ENILV students practical work in cheesemaking on ENILV dairy workshops (butter, pressed cheese, soft cheese, 11

12 diversification) on Friday morning, attended a lecture about European Union with Mr Tabary then went to visit the city of Annecy on Friday afternoon, shared a «tartiflette» at ENILV on Friday evening and spent Saturday hiking in the mountains at Plateau des Glières where they even walked in the snow! The symposium gathered nearly 15 lecturers from various French (INRA, CNIEL, ENSAIA, ACTILAIT), European (University of Gembloux in Belgium) or worldwide (FIL) organizations who presented the situation of dairy research and industry in the fields of environment, of nutrition and health, of new technologies. Lectures, high leveled and translated simultaneously, were appreciated by the audience of teachers and manufacturers whereas our students had some difficulties to follow them. As a matter of interest, a lecturer couldn t come at the last minute and gave her lecture via videoconference which was a big first for ENILV! Finally, there is no EUROPEL meeting without the friendly moments that meals represent. On Thursday evening, a reception dinner took place with all the participants of these 3 days and on this occasion, the results of the contest were proclaimed to the greatest delight of ENILV Aurillac teams, the winners of this year.there all the students were given a diploma for their participation in the contest. Another important moment on Friday evening : the dinner at the catering school in Bonneville for EUROPEL members who were welcomed with honours and a very special dessert to celebrate EUROPEL s 20 years old. Nobody will forget the blue sugar medal representing the association logo! Thank you very much to all of you who took part in EUROPEL s 20 th anniversary and thanks to your presence who contributed to the success of these three days. 13 Report. Friday 15 October (afternoon) The general Assembly was opened by our Chairman, Jappie de Jong, and by the ENILV Headmistress, Mrs Véronique PAPEREUX, who welcomed each in turn EUROPEL members along with the representatives of the European Commission, Mrs Wilson and Mr Tabary, and thanked them to be present. This introduction was followed by Mr Mathieu s speech about the historical links between EUROPEL and the European Commission and his thanks to Mrs Wilson and Mr Tabary before they go to join the students and deliver them a speech about European Union. Then Mrs Tuijtelaars from Bruxels spoke to introduce us with the International Dairy Federation through essential facts and figures, member countries, membership, the work of IDF, its 9 areas of work such as environment, hygiene, its communication, its decision taking and what makes its strength. Later we had a presentation of European programmes by Mr Desjeux from the National Leonardo da Vinci Agency who explained the differences between Comenius, Leonardo, Grundtvig and Erasmus programmes and talked to us about lifelong learning programme. A discussion started about what the type of projects EUROPEL could develop and find the right European programme to finance them. For instance with the contest, how to finance the students from every member country in Europel. He insisted on the existence of contact seminars organized by each national agency and which could help us. The last presentation in this afternoon was about the dairy simulator created by APL from Lugo. This pedagogical tool for trainers was created in partnership with Finland, Spain, Poland, Portugal and Romania. Elena Lopez made a demonstration for us with selected unitary operations and explained us that this tool is being validated on the technical level both by partners and by students. A final discussion took place about a possible mobility project for EUROPEL members in an Easrtern Europe country : with which goal? for which target? To close the meeting, we excused all the absent members : Manuela from Portugal, Hanne from Norway, Justyna from Poland, Fons from Holland and Matti from Finland and gave their best regards to the assembly. The evening started with the traditional reception at the Town hall in La Roche sur Foron where the mayor Michel Thabuis and his first assistant welcomed EUROPEL members within the frame of these international exchanges and they offered them a drink. On this occasion, the mayor named our President Jappie freeman of the town and gave him a medal of the city. The traditional photo was taken on the front of the town hall and will soon be put on the EUROPEL website. Saturday 16 October The General Assembly began with the introduction of our President and the presentation of the day programme, particularly the 4 workshops of this Saturday morning : - Student exchanges - The sensorial evaluation contest 13

14 - The future of EUROPEL - The dairy book All the participants were distributed in the four workshops for a moment of exchanges and work before joining together again for a common summary of what was said and done in each workshop. Here is the essential part of it : - Student exchanges (Marite, Regina, Fabienne, Tuija, Paola, Agnès, Franck) We studied the list of all the existing or having existed exchanges between the different schools which are EUROPEL members. Then there was a discussion about possible new projects between several partners and about the importance of creating material or peadagogical tools (posters, CD, films ) which would be used in each partner country. An idea given by Marite from Latvia : Making posters describing the cheesemaking process by students about their own specialities (regional or national cheese). Another idea given by Regina from Holland : Making posters by students about the hygiene chain from producers to consumers Emphasis was put on the necessity of having concrete outcome or results which would be useful to everyone. Various goals can coexist in the same Leonardo project between the different partners. New precisionswere given by Mr Desjeux about money for European projects. - The sensorial evaluation contest (Conchita, Anne, Riitta, Jean Pierre, Gustaaf) The participants talked about various aspects : the choice of international cheeses, the grids used for the contest (some terms are unclear, there are too many criteria for some cheeses), the use of the software ARIEL, the sending of information about selected cheeses 2 months before the contest, as precise as possible and in English at least. With the assembly agreement, it was decided that Edam should be added in the list of international cheeses, the number of descritptors for cheeses should be between 20 and 25 (either general or specific descriptors) on the 4 aspects (visual, tactile, olfactive, perception in mouth), there should also be more precisions on the grids. Changes for the Rules will be made by Anne Balme and sent to Elena who will put them on the website. Elena will see to improve the system to use ARIEL (the more data you register, the slower it becomes to treat them) - The future of EUROPEL (Geertrui, Elena, Mrs Brezzo, Haaje, M. Tinguely) And how to increase the number of active members. The work group reminded EUROPEL goals : exchanging information, exchanging students, organizing the contest. Various ideas were given : It would be a good idea for the future to organize the contest AND the General Assembly at the same time in the same place. Students could make posters about their research or activities and present them to everybody. Emphasis was put on the importance of being together. It would be nice to improve contacts with AEDIL to have more cooperation by organizing a common event for instance. It would also be great to have projects including agrotourism, environment, landscape Finally is it important to choose the right dates for the general assembly in order to get as many participants as possible. - The dairy book (Monica, Belen, Sergio) The work group reminded the work which was done in the past by a few members : collecting data from each country and putting them together. But many countries are not or no longer represented in the book (Austria, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland ). Data which were collected are no longer convenient because they need updating and this work is already done by other national organizations (for instance : CNIEL in France) which means that this is double work. Moreover, many figures are already on line (for example : EUROSTAT). So there was a discussion about what to put in the book to make it more attractive and three ideas were given : professional dairy organizations in each country, national dairy publications, dairy teachning (high schools/universities) in each country with contact people which would make partnership easier between country members. 14

15 On Saturday afternoon, after a joyful and friendly meal at Le Foron restaurant, EUROPEL members gathered again to talk about all the aspects of their association life. 1) The approval of the Lugo General Assembly minutes : they were approved unanimously. 2) Finances (cf. enclosed updated document). A document was given to each member on the financial situation at the date of 16 October This situation is good but we still have the same problem of non paid subscriptions by members. It is important for the treasurer to send first an invoice for the payment of the membership subscription and once thie latter is paid, the treasurer sends a receipt. Each member has to check if his/her school really paid the subscription for ) EUROPEL journal : Mr Mathieu would like the introduction to be translated into Spanish, the 2 last issues to appear on the website and the previous ones to be archived. Elena will do it. The issue 12 will have to start on January 1st 2010 to end on December 31st It will comprise : the editorial, the report of the Board meeting in February 2010, the minutes of the XII Contest in La Roche, the report of the EUROPEL 20 th anniversary ) 4) The website : A few remarks from Mr Mathieu who wishes the part «Who we are» to be translated into French, Spanish, even Italian. For the photo gallery, it is important to classify them by decade : st meeting / 2000 Dairy decade / th anniversary Photos of the Lugo general Assembly in May 2009 should be added on the site. In the part dedicated to Members, it would be interesting to update the school presentations or to make direct link to the school websites. Everybody agrees on these modifications. 5) Help of a student : According to a proposition made by Elena, EUROPEL could ask the help of a student to work on the updating of the database, of its website in exchange for a small fee (a grant but not a salary). There was a discussion about this idea and the type of help a student could give but no objection was made by any member. 6) A new Board : Because of Agnès Paillé s leaving after 16 years of voluntary work for EUROPEL and no wish to get a new function in the Board, an application call was launched and Sergio from ENILV in La Roche was asked to replace Agnès. He accepted to be a member of the Board which will comprise the following members : - Chairman : Mr Jappie de Jong - Vice chairwoman : Mrs Monica Cretu - Treasurer : Mr Sergio Romeu Torres - Secretary : Mrs Geertrui Vlaemynck - Assistant secretary : Mrs Elena Lopez Colmenero 7) Next contest : Gustaf Bogaard in the name of AOC Friesland announced that the next contest would take place on 20 May 2011 in his institute at Leeuwarden. They will be able to welcome up to 20 teams but not more for accommodation reasons. 8) Next General Assembly : Monica Cretu invited all the members for the next general assembly at Falticeni, in the North of Romania, (County of Sucava and regionof Bucovina) in the autumn Finally the General Assembly was closed with the views of all those present who could give their opinion about these 3 days dedicated to EUROPEL 20 years old. Many thanks were expressed to the ENILV organizing team of La Roche sur Foron. To conclude, Mrs Papereux insisted on the interest shown to the dairy sector and on the successs of these 3 days. Likewise, Jappie de Jong insisted on the great success of these days on a scientific level and on a socializing level, on the serious aspect of EUROPEL anniversary with the symposium, the contest and the general assembly and the less serious but very pleasant aspect of having fun and friendly moments. And he closed the meeting calling everybody to join in Romania for the next EUROPEL meeting in 2012! 15

16 L assemblée générale d Europel La Roche sur Foron, France, Octobre Il y a 20 ans, à l ENILV de La Roche sur Foron, M. Jacques Mathieu, professeur de chimie, avec son épouse Sylviane, professeur de français, créaient l Association européenne d enseignants laitiers EUROPEL. Association ayant pour but de créer des liens entre les enseignants laitiers, de leur permettre d échanger des informations professionnelles ou d échanger des étudiants, de créer des outils pédagogiques Pendant 20 ans, les Présidents se sont succédés : d abord un Grec (M. Kalanzopoulos), puis un Français (M. Marrié), ensuite une Espagnole (Mme Barcina), puis un Hollandais (M. Michielsen), un Finlandais (M. Tapaila) et de nouveau un Hollandais, notre Président actuel (M. de Jong). Les assemblées générales se sont déplacées à travers l Europe, de La Roche sur Foron à Athènes, de Gand à Pampelune, de Delft à Lodi, d Odense à Murcia, de Leeuwarden à Hämeenlinna, de Porto à Melle, de Lugo à La Roche sur Foron. De nombreux congrès ont eu lieu, de nombreuses visites dans des entreprises laitières ont été réalisées au cours de ces 20 années. Le concours d analyse sensorielle a vu le jour et a mis en compétition de nombreux étudiants européens à Crémone, Alkmaar, Murcia, Madrid, Hämeenlinna, Aurillac, Surgères, Poligny, Mamirolle et La Roche. Pardonnez moi si j en oublie! Et c est tout naturellement que les membres d EUROPEL se retrouvaient en cette année 2010 à La Roche sur Foron, lieu de naissance de notre association, pour y célébrer son 20 ème anniversaire. Pour la troisième fois, après le Congrès sur les protéines laitières en 1993, après la Décade laitière en 2000, l ENILV accueillait ses invités à La Roche du 14 au 16 Octobre. Ces trois journées ont vu la tenue de trois manifestations différentes : le colloque sur «Les tendances actuelles de la recherche et de l industrie laitières en France et dans l Union européenne» pour les enseignants et les industriels, le concours européen d analyse sensorielle pour les étudiants et enfin, l Assemblée Générale des membres d EUROPEL. Ces trois journées ont rassemblé pour la première fois les étudiants et les membres d EUROPEL dans un même lieu et au même moment ce qui était une «Première» et qui fut apprécié de tous. Nous étions nombreux : près d une centaine de participants au colloque, 54 étudiants européens pour le concours et 26 membres actifs pour l Assemblée Générale, réunis pour cette manifestation et venant de 9 pays différents : la Belgique, l Espagne, La Finlande, la France, l Italie, la Lettonie, les Pays Bas, la Roumanie et même un pays non Européen le Japon. 16

17 Chaque membre d EUROPEL a pu successivement assister au colloque du jeudi matin au vendredi midi) puis à l Assemblée générale (du vendredi après midi au samedi soir) tandis que les étudiants eux avaient leur propre programme sur les trois jours. Ils participaient au concours le jeudi matin, allaient visiter deux entreprises fromagères le jeudi après midi, observaient les travaux pratiques des étudiants de l ENILV en fabrication sur les ateliers technologiques (beurre, pâtes pressées, pâtes molles, diversification) le vendredi matin, assistaient à une conférence sur l Union Européenne avec M. Tabary puis se rendaient à Annecy pour une visite de la ville le vendredi aprèsmidi, partageaient une «tartiflette» à l ENILV le vendredi soir et passaient la journée du samedi en randonnée en montagne au Plateau des Glières où ils ont même trouvé la neige! Le colloque a réuni une quinzaine d intervenants de différents organismes français (INRA, CNIEL, ENSAIA, ACTILAIT), européen (Université de Gembloux en Belgique) et mondial (FIL) qui ont présenté l état de la recherche et de l industrie laitières dans les domaines de l environnement, de la nutrition/santé et des nouvelles technologies. Les conférences, d un haut niveau et traduites en simultané, ont été appréciées du public d enseignants et d industriels mais nos étudiants ont eu un peu de mal à les suivre. Petite anecdote : un intervenant n ayant pu se déplacer au dernier moment, son intervention s est faite en visioconférence ce qui fut une «Première» pour l ENILV! Enfin, il n est pas de rencontre EUROPEL sans les moments conviviaux que représentent les repas. Le jeudi soir, un repas de gala réunissait tous les participants de ces 3 journées et à cette occasion, les résultats du concours furent proclamés pour la plus grande joie des équipes de l ENILV d Aurillac, grand vainqueur cette année. Tous les étudiants y reçurent un diplôme pour leur participation au concours. Autre temps fort le vendredi soir : le souper au lycée hôtelier de Bonneville pour les membres d EUROPEL qui furent reçus avec les plus grands honneurs et un dessert très spécial pour célébrer les 20 ans d EUROPEL. Personne n oubliera le médaillon bleu de sucre représentant le logo de l association! Merci à vous tous qui avez participé aux 20 ans d EUROPEL et qui, par votre présence, avez contribué au succès de ces trois journées. Vendredi 15 Octobre (après midi) L Assemblée Générale fut déclarée ouverte par notre Président, Jappie de Jong et par la directrice de l ENILV, Mme Véronique PAPEREUX, qui accueillirent à tour de rôle les membres d EUROPEL ainsi que 17

18 les représentants de la Commission Européenne, Mme Wilson et M. Tabary, et les remercièrent d être présents. Cette introduction fut suivie par le discours de M. Mathieu concernant les liens historiques entre EUROPEL et la Commission Européenne et par les remerciements qu il adressa à Mme Wilson et M. Tabary avant leur départ pour rejoindre les étudiants. C est ensuite Mme Tuijtelaars de Bruxelles qui est intervenue pour nous présenter la Fédération Internationale Laitière à travers des faits et chiffres essentiels, les pays membres, l adhésion, le travail de la FIL, ses 9 domaines d intervention comme par exemple l environnement ou l hygiène, sa communication, ses prises de décision et ce qui fait sa force. Nous avons eu plus tard une présentation des programmes européens par M. Desjeux de l Agence Nationale Leonardo da Vinci qui a expliqué les différences entre les programmes Comenius, Leonardo, Grundtvig et Erasmus et nous a parlé du programme de formation tout au long de la vie. Une discussion s est engagée sur le type de projets qu EUROPEL pourrait développer et comment trouver le bon programme européen pour les financer. Par exemple avec le concours, comment financer les étudiants de chaque pays membre. Il a insisté sur l existence des séminaires de contact organisés par chaque agence nationale et qui pourraient nous aider. La dernière présentation fut celle du simulateur laitier réalisé par l APL de Lugo. Cet outil pédagogique pour les formateurs a été créé en partenariat avec la Finlande, l Espagne, la Pologne, le Portugal et la Roumanie. Elena Lopez nous en a fait une démonstration à partir d opérations unitaires sélectionnées et nous a expliqué que cet outil est en phase de validation à la fois par les partenaires et par les étudiants. Une discussion finale s est engagée autour d un projet de mobilité européenne pour les membres d EUROPEL vers un pays de l Europe de l Est : dans quel but? pour quel public? Pour clôturer la séance, nous avons présenté les excuses des membres absents : Manuela du Portugal, Hanne de Norvège, Justyna de Pologne, Fons de Hollande et Matti de Finlande et transmis leur meilleur souvenir à toute l assemblée. La soirée a débuté par la réception traditionnelle à la mairie de La Roche sur Foron où le maire Michel Thabuis et sa première adjointe ont reçu les membres d EUROPEL dans le cadre de ces échanges internationaux et leur ont offert leur verre de l amitié. A cette occasion, M. le Maire de La Roche sur Foron a proclamé notre Président, Jappie de Jong, citoyen d honneur et lui a remis la médaille de la ville. La photo traditionnelle a été réalisée sur le parvis de la mairie et sera visible prochainement sur le site d EUROPEL. Samedi 16 Octobre L Assemblée générale a débuté avec l introduction de notre Président et la présentation du programme de la journée et notamment les 4 ateliers de travail de ce samedi matin : - Les échanges d étudiants - Le concours d analyse sensorielle - L avenir d Europel - Le livre de l industrie laitière 18

19 Tous les participants se sont répartis entre les quatre ateliers pour un temps d échange et de travail avant de se regrouper en assemblée plénière pour une mise en commun des discussions dans chaque atelier. En voici l essentiel : - Les échanges d étudiants (Marite, Regina, Fabienne, Tuija, Paola, Agnès, Franck) Nous avons fait circuler la liste qui récapitule tous les échanges existant ou ayant existé entre les différents établissements membres d EUROPEL. Une discussion s est engagée autour de nouveaux projets entre plusieurs partenaires et de l importance de créer des outils pédagogiques (posters, CD, films ) qui seraient utilisés dans chaque pays partenaire. Idée de Marite de Lettonie : Réalisation par les étudiants d affiches décrivant le process de fabrication de fromages de leur spécialité nationale ou régionale. Autre idée de Regina de Hollande : Réalisation par les étudiants de posters sur l hygiène à toutes les étapes de la chaîne des producteurs aux consommateurs L accent a été mis sur la nécessité de produire des résultats concrets et utiles à tous. Plusieurs objectifs peuvent coexister dans un même projet Leonardo entre les différents partenaires. De nouvelles précisions ont été données par M. Desjeux sur l argent distribué pour les projets européens. - Le concours d analyse sensorielle (Conchita, Anne, Riitta, Jean Pierre, Gustaaf) Les participants ont discuté de divers aspects : le choix des fromages internationaux, les grilles utilisées pour le concours (des termes ne sont pas clairs, il y a trop de critères pour certains fromages), le logiciel ARIEL et son utilisation, l envoi des informations sur les fromages sélectionnés pour le concours 2 mois avant celui ci, aussi détaillées que possible et en anglais au moins. Avec l accord de l assemblée, il a été décidé que l Edam devait être rajouté dans la liste des fromages internationaux, que le nombre maximum de descripteurs pour les fromages devait se situer entre 20 et 25 (soit généraux, soit spécifiques) sur les 4 aspects (visuel, tactile, olfactif, perception en bouche), qu il y ait plus de précisions sur les grilles. Les changements pour le règlement seront faits par Anne et transmis à Elena qui les inclura sur le site Internet. Elena verra comment améliorer le système pour utiliser le logiciel ARIEL (plus on enregistre de données et plus il est lent à les traiter). - L avenir d EUROPEL (Geertrui, Elena, Mme Brezzo, Haaje, M. Tinguely) Et comment augmenter le nombre de membres actifs. Le groupe de travail a rappelé les objectifs d EUROPEL : échanger des informations, échanger des étudiants, organiser le concours. Diverses idées ont été émises : Ce serait une bonne idée à l avenir d organiser le concours et l assemblée générale au même endroit et en même temps. Les étudiants peuvent réaliser des posters sur leurs recherches ou leurs activités et les présenter à tous. L accent est mis sur l importance d être tous ensemble. Il serait bon d améliorer les contacts avec l AEDIL pour avoir plus de coopération en organisant par exemple un événement en commun. Il serait peut être bien aussi d avoir des projets autour de l agrotourisme, de l environnement, du paysage Enfin il convient de choisir les bonnes dates pour l assemblée générale afin d avoir le plus de participants possibles. - Le livre de l industrie laitière (Monica, Belen, Sergio) Le groupe de travail a rappelé le travail réalisé par le passé par quelques membres : rassembler les données dans chaque pays et les mettre ensemble. Mais de nombreux pays ne sont pas ou plus représentés (l Allemagne, l Autriche, le Danemark, la Grande Bretagne, l Irlande ). Les données qui ont été collectées ne conviennent plus car elles ne sont plus à jour et ce travail est très souvent déjà réalisé par des organismes nationaux (ex : le CNIEL en France) ce qui veut dire que le travail est fait en double. D autre part, de nombreuses statistiques sont déjà en ligne (ex : EUROSTAT). Une discussion a eu donc lieu sur ce qu il conviendrait de mettre dans ce livre pour le rendre plus attractif et trois idées ont été émises : les organisations professionnelles laitières de chaque pays, les 19

20 publications professionnelles nationales, l enseignement laitier (grandes écoles/universités) dans chaque pays avec les personnes contacts ce qui permettrait des partenariats plus aisés entre les pays membres. Au cours du samedi après midi, après un repas joyeux et convivial au restaurant rochois Le Foron, les membres d EUROPEL se sont retrouvés pour aborder tous les aspects de la vie de l association. 9) L approbation du compte rendu de la dernière A.G. à Lugo en 2009 : il a été approuvé à l unanimité. 10) Le bilan financier (cf. document joint mis à jour). Un document est remis à chaque membre sur l état des finances au 16 octobre La situation est bonne mais il reste toujours le même problème des cotisations non payées par les membres. Il est important que la trésorière envoie d abord une facture pour le règlement de la cotisation et une fois celle ci réglée, elle envoie un reçu. Chacun doit vérifier si son établissement a bien réglé la cotisation ) Le journal d EUROPEL : M. Mathieu souhaite que l introduction soit traduite en espagnol, que les 2 derniers numéros apparaissent sur le site et que les numéros précédents soient archivés. Elena s en chargera. Le N 12 devra débuter au 1 er janvier 2010 pour finir au 31 décembre Il comprendra : l édito, le compte rendu de la réunion du Bureau de février 2010, le compte rendu du XII concours à La Roche, le compte rendu des 20 ans d EUROPEL ) 12) Le site Internet : Quelques remarques de M. Mathieu qui souhaite que la partie «Qui nous sommes» soit traduite en français, en espagnol, voire en italien. Pour la galerie de photos, il est important de les classer par décade : e assises / 2000 Décade laitière / ème anniversaire Il convient de rajouter les photos de l AG de Lugo en mai Dans la partie consacrée aux Membres, il serait intéressant de remettre à jour les présentations des écoles ou de créer directement un lien vers les sites Internet des écoles. Toute l assemblée est d accord avec ces modifications. 13) L aide d un étudiant : Suivant une proposition faite par Elena, EUROPEL pourrait demander l aide d un étudiant pour des travaux de mise à jour de sa base, de son site Internet en échange d une petite rémunération (subvention mais non salaire). Une discussion s engage sur les modalités et le type d aide qu un étudiant pourrait apporter mais aucune objection n est soulevée par l assemblée. 14) Le renouvellement du Bureau : En raison du départ d Agnès Paillé qui, après 16 ans de bénévolat pour EUROPEL, ne souhaite plus avoir une fonction dans le Bureau, un appel à candidature est lancé et Sergio de l ENILV de La Roche est sollicité en remplacement d Agnès. Il accepte d entrer dans le Bureau qui se composera désormais des membres suivants : - Président : M. Jappie de Jong - Vice Présidente : Mme Monica Cretu - Trésorier : M. Sergio Romeu Torres - Secrétaire : Mme Geertrui Vlaemynck - Secrétaire adjointe : Mme Elena Lopez Colmenero 15) Le prochain concours : Gustaf Bogaard au nom de l AOC Friesland annonce que le prochain concours aura lieu le 20 mai 2011 dans son établissement à Leeuwarden. Il pourra accueillir jusqu à 20 équipes mais pas plus pour des raisons d hébergement. 20
