He has a B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) in IE&M from the Technion (1982), and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. from the Business School of the University of Texas at Austin (1985). Dr. Golany served as an Associate Dean of the IE&M Faculty during and as its Dean during He currently serves as the Technion Vice President for External Relations & Resource Development.

Kira s research at the Technion and Microsoft Research produced a predictive algorithm that gives early warnings of disease or violence outbreaks by spotting clues in past and present news reports. Dr. RADINSKY is an active researcher: publishing her work, organizing workshops and giving tutorials in the world s leading data mining conferences, such as WWW. Kira holds a PhD in computer science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology Professeur Avigdor GAL Faculté de Génie Industriel & de Management His research focuses on effective methods of integrating data from multiple and diverse sources, which affect the way businesses and consumers seek information over the Internet. His current work zeroes in on schema matching the task of providing communication between databases, and connecting such communication to real- world concepts. Another line of research involves the identification of complex events such as flu epidemics, biological attacks, and breaches in computer security, and its application to disaster and crisis management. He has applied his research to European and American projects in government, ehealth, and the integration of business documents. Professeur Shai SHEN ORR Faculté de Médecine Ruth & Bruce Rappaport Shai SHEN- ORR is a data scientist specializing in biology. The long- term research objective of the Shen- Orr Systems Immunology lab is to understand how immunity is orchestrated in man and to apply this knowledge towards advancing genomic medicine. To achieve this goal, he combines experimental and computational approaches to cover three main themes, spanning between clinical and basic research: First, he aims to identify biomarkers monitoring health and immune health in particular, second, to study how to efficiently translate our understanding of biology from model organisms to humans and third, the team aims to understand the system level properties of immunity and harness these insights to understand complex systems in general Professeur Yael MANDEL GUTFREUND Faculté de Biologie Her research interest is in the field of computational molecular biology and bioinformatics. Her laboratory develops and applies computational approaches to study the function of

3 genes and proteins, by integrating sequence, structure and gene expression data. The unique approach of Dr. OSTFELD resides in developing hybrid mathematical methodologies through integrating heuristic optimization techniques with machine learning. Dr. OSTFELD is recognized a world leader in water resources systems engineering in general, and for water distribution systems optimization and analysis in particular. Professeur Joseph (Sefi) NAOR Faculté d Informatique His interest are in the Theory of algorithms and applications; Randomness andcomputation. Specific: Approximation and on- line algorithms; Combinatorial optimization; Randomized algorithms; Communicationnetworks; Parallel computation Professeur Roi REICHART Faculté de Génie Industriel & de Management His research is in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and focuses on developing computational models and intelligent computer algorithms that can acquire and understand human languages. He is interested and has worked on a large variety of topics including syntactic analysis (parsing an POS tagging), lexical semantics, information extraction, scientific text mining and discourse analysis, the interface between human and machine language learning, as well as designing and evaluation of clustering algorithms. He is particularly interested in learning language from texts with as little explicit direct human guidance as possible. Oren holds a Ph.D from Cornell University

4 Professeur Yaakov CRAMMER Faculté de Génie Électrique His main research focuses on machine learning, natural language processing, and the interactions between them. He is mostly interested in making predictions in complex decision spaces. His Specific interests: online learning, learning theory, text classification and analysis, domain adaptation. Professeur Ran EL YANIV Faculté d Informatique His research interests are Machine learning and data mining, Online algorithms and competitive analysis, Computational finance Group III : TECHNOLOGY Professeur Carmel DOMSHLAK Faculté de Génie Industriel & de Management His primary research interest is in Artificial Intelligence (AI) computational and modeling problems, with an emphasis on interesting structure/complexity connections that can be found in different tasks of automated reasoning such as domain- independent planning, multi- agent system design, and user- centric information systems (via preferential reasoning). The recent focus of his work has been on heuristic- search planning, Monte- Carlo techniques for online planning in complex environments, planning for fault tolerance, and parametric complexity of various fragments of planning tasks. He is also getting more and more interested in foundations of planning for multi- agent systems. Tangentially, he is also interested in problems that lie on the boundary between computer science and social choice, e.g., various settings of rank aggregation, voting, recommendation, etc. Professeur Mark SILBERSTEIN Faculté de Génie Électrique His Research interests are Heterogeneous architectures: programming tools, scheduling algorithms, OS abstractions, privacy support in OS, High performance computing on grids and clouds, distributed storage systems, Parallel processing on multicores and GPUs. Group IV : HI TECH PRINTING Professeur Shulamit LEVENBERG Directrice du Stem Cells Tissue Engineering Laboratory, Faculté de Génie Biomédical Prof. LEVENBERGg received her PhD at 1999 from the Weizmann Institute of Science, specializing in molecular cell biology and cell adhesion. Upon completion of her postdoctoral training and research ( ) at Prof. Langer's group at the department of Chemical Engineering at MIT, she received a faculty appointment in the Technion s department of Biomedical Engineering. In the Technion she is conducting interdisciplinary research on tissue engineering and stem cells using biodegradable polymers. Prof. LEVENBERG was

5 awarded the 2006 Krill price of the Wolf foundation for excellence in scientific research. She was also nominated as a Research Leader in Tissue Engineering by the Scientific American Journal (the 2006 Scientific American 50 Award). In 2007, Prof. LEVENBERG received The Henry Taub Prize for Academic Excellence and in 2008 was awarded the France- Israel Foundation Prize for scientific excellence in stem cell research. In 2009 she was awarded in Rome the The Excellence for Israel Prize by the Italian Minister of Culture. Her Research interests: Vascularization of engineered tissues. Professeur Yuval YAISH (Electrical, mechanical, and optical properties of carbon nanotubes, graphene, and silicon nanowires) ou Professeur Eyal BUKS Faculté de Génie Electrique Prof. BUKS s experimental group at the Technion is part of the recently established Zisapel nano- electronics center. His research is mainly in the fields of superconducting devices (resonators, Josephson devices and detectors) and nanomechanics. Professeur Hossam HAICK Directeur du Laboratory for Nanomaterials- Based Devices & Membre de la Faculté de Chimie 17h30-18h00 The current research of the LNBD team harnesses nanotechnology and medicine to develop and test a tailor- made, non- invasive array of nanosensors for the detection of volatile biomarkers that will indicate an increased risk of disease (e.g., lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, Kidney Disease, Parkinson, Alzheimer, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.) and assist clinicians to decide for the proper therapy algorithm. To achieve these goals, his team develops a tool that is based on Nano Artificial NOSE (NA- NOSE) as well as artificial skin, which makes use of cross- selective and sensitive sensor arrays that are trained in their ensemble to detect disease biomarkers. These bio- inspired systems are used to screen and identify high- risk groups for specific disease, and monitor the therapy provided to people affected by that disease to establish point- of- care diagnostics and less invasive treatments. Additionally, they are used for lab- track analysis and, in parallel, for clinical- track analyses. He conducted significant researches on therapeutic applications of ultrasound, on interventions in acute myocardial infarction and on embolic protection devices. He was the founder of Angiosonics Inc. and ProtechT, both start up companies developing products in cardiology. He is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiac Angioplasty and Interventions and in the European Society of Cardiology.Prof. ROSENSCHEIN published 51 articles and 9 patents. He was invited to lecture in many scientific meetings all over the world. He holds an MD from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel and an MBA from the Kellogg- Recanati Executive MBA Tel Aviv University - Nordthwestern University. He was trained at the Tel Aviv University, Columbia University and the University of Michigan. 9 Après le petit déjeuner, départ pour la visite de la vieille ville de Jérusalem. En commençant par une vue panoramique de la vieille ville à partir du Mont des Oliviers. Descente vers Gethsemani, le jardin des Oliviers où Jésus passa sa dernière nuit. Entrée dans la ville par la Porte des Lions vers l'eglise Sainte Anne et les piscines de Bethesda. Marche le long du Chemin de Croix traditionnel vers le Saint Sépulcre qui abrite le mont du Golgotha et la tombe de Jésus selon la tradition catholique. Le Saint Sépulcre est également constitué de nombreuses chapelles que nous découvrirons en parallèle des différentes églises (cultes) qui gèrent la basilique et les lieux sacrés. Nous continuerons notre chemin vers le dernier vestige du Second Temple, le Mur Occidental (dit aussi Mur des Lamentations). Vers 16h30 départ pour Haïfa et installation au Dan Carmel en chambre Deluxe. Le soir, dîner au restaurant Dozan dans le quartier animé de la «Moshava Hagermanit», en présence de Professeurs Français du Technion. Dimanche 1 juin 2014 TECHNION Après le petit déjeuner, transfert vers le Technion. Journée consacré à la visite et aux conférences sur le campus. En fin d après-midi, transfert retour au Dan Carmel. Le soir, Dîner de Gala dans le restaurant panoramique Rondo de l hôtel, en présence de la Gouvernance du Technion ainsi que du Prix Nobel de Chimie 2011, le Professeur Dan Shechtman. Lundi 2 juin 2014 TECHNION ET RETOUR Après le petit déjeuner, transfert vers le Technion. Matinée de visites. A 13h30 précises, transfert vers l aéroport Ben-Gourion pour l enregistrement du vol retour d Air France, décollage à 17h40 et arrivée à Paris Roissy-CDG 2A à 21h40. Des lunch-box, vous seront remis dans le car pour le déjeuner.
