2 Congratulations! English Thank you for purchasing your SOUND Portable Digital Drum Set. This Digital Drum Set has been developed to perform with ease. Before using this instrument, we recommend that you to read through this manual. Taking care of your Portable Digital Drum Set For optimum use of your Digital Drum Set, please follow the maintenance instructions listed below: LOCATION Do not expose the unit to the following conditions to avoid deformation, discoloration, or more serious damage. Direct sunlight. High temperature (near a heat source, or in a car during the daytime). Excessive humidity. Excessive dust. Strong vibration. HANDLING AND TRANSPORT Never apply excessive force to the controls, connectors or other parts of the instrument. Always unplug cables by gripping the plug firmly, but not pulling on the cable. Disconnect all cables before moving the instrument. Physical shocks caused by dropping, bumping, or placing heavy objects on the instrument can result in scratches and more serious damage. POWER SUPPLY Turn the power switch OFF when the instrument isnotinuse. The AC adapter should be unplugged from the AC outlet if the instrument is not in use for an extended period of time. Unplug the AC adapter during electric storms. Avoid plugging the AC adapter into the same AC outlet as an appliances with high power consumption, such as electric heaters or ovens. Also avoid using multi-plug adapters since this can result in reducing the sound quality, operation errors, and possible damage. TURN POWER OFF WHEN MAKING CONNECTIONS CLEANING Clean the unit with a dry soft cloth. A slightly damp cloth may be used to remove stubborn grime and dirt. Never use cleaners such as alcohol or thinner. Avoid placing vinyl objects on top of the unit (vinyl can stick to and discolor the surface). ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE This instrument contains digital circuitry and may cause interference if placed too close to a radio or television receiver. If this occurs, move the instrument away from the affected equipment. To avoid damage to the instrument and other devices to which it is connected, turn OFF the power switches of all related devices prior to connecting or disconnecting cables. 4 PANEL CONTROL Front Panel English DRUM PAD (x7) [ Master Volume + & - ] button These buttons can be used to change the master volume UP or DOWN. [Poweron off]switch This switch turns power on / off. [ Play / Stop ] button This button is used to start or stop recording replay. 1 [ Song ] button This button is used to enter song menu. 11 [ Hand Percussion ] button and LED indicator This button is used to turn the hand percussion function ON. [ Drum OFF ] button and LED indicator This button is used to enable or disable the drum function when listening to all songs [ REC ] button and LED indicator This button is used to start or stop recording. [ Click ] button and LED indicator This button is used to turn on or off the metronome. [ Reverb ] button This button is used to change the reverb level. [ Kit ] button This button is used to enter kit menu. [ Pad Assign ] button This button is used to enter voice or volume menu. 3-Digit LED This LED is the main display device, which will show the parameters of the current menu. 5 PANEL CONTROL Front Panel 18 [ Start / Stop ] button This button can be used to start or stop playing all songs. 19 [ Demo ] button This button is used to start or stop a demo song. 21 [ Pan ] button This button is used to change the pan of all pad. 22 [ Volume ] button This button is used to change the volume of pad. English 2 [ Gain ] button This button is used to change the gain of pad. 23 Speakers Rear Panel PHONES KICK HI HAT USB V Phones Jack This jack is used to connect the headphones. (Connecting the headphones will not mute the output jacks). [ KICK / HI-HAT ] Pedal Input Jack Kick and Hi-Hat pedal input jacks. USB Jack This port is used to connect all external device. DC Jack Connect to a DC V power adaptor. (AsspecifiedonPAGEE6) Connecting the Foot Pedals (1&2) The supplies foot pedals can be connected to the unit to simultaneously play the drum set s hi-hat pedal or bass drum voices. They can also be assigned to play other voices. Note: Do not press the pedal while connecting it to the unit or while turning on the power. (Connecting in this manner with the power on, the pedal s function may be reversed.) E5
6 SETTING UP Power Supply Your digital drum set will operate on either batteries or the supplied power adaptor. Follow the instructions below according to the power source you intend to use. English Using the AC-Adaptor Connect the power adaptor to the DC IN jack located on the rear panel of the unit, and plug the AC power adaptor into an AC power outlet. Using Batteries 1. Open the battery compartment cover under the unit. 2. Insert six C size, R14 SUM-2 or equivalent batteries. When inserting the batteries, follow the polarity markings in the illustration. Note: We suggest using alkaline batteries. Do not use adaptors other than the one specified. The technical specification of the adaptor is DC V output, center positive type. 3. Close the battery compartment securely. NOTE: Power will be automatically drawn from the AC adaptor if an optional AC adaptor is connected while batteries are installed in the instrument. CAUTION: It is recommended that you replace worn batteries as soon as possible. When battery voltage drops, the display will dim and / or the sound will become distorted, when this occurs, replace the batteries with a complete set of six new batteries of the same type. NEVER mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (alkaline, magnesium, etc.), different brand batteries or batteries from the same brand but of different types. Misuse may cause the instrument to become hot, result in fire, or battery leakage. Also, to prevent damage due to battery leakage, remove all the batteries from the instrument when it is not to be used for an extended period of time. If batteries are installed in this instrument, and the instrument is unused for a long period, they will loose their power. Using Headphones An optional set of stereo headphones can be connected to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack located on the rear panel. When headphones are connected to the jack, the internal speakers of the unit will switch off automatically (Perfect for private practice or late night playing). If you would prefer to use an external sound system, the headphone jack can also be used to connect the digital drum set to a stereo system or mixing console. 7 FUNCTION Select a Drum Kit Kit menu is the default menu after powering the unit on the default value is 1. Press the [kit] button to enter a kit menu. The 3-digit LED will display the current kit number with the corresponding menu indicator illuminating. As shown on the illustration. The buttons select [+] / [-] or [dial] can be used to select any kit (1-3, loop) as the current kit. English Set Pad Voice Press the pad assign button to enter pad assign menu. Default value will be the voice value of crash pad based on different kits selected. For example, if kit 1 has been selected, then press pad assign, the value on LED will be 96, as this is the voice value on crash pad. If the pad assign menu is selected the corresponding voice will be indication on the LED. In this menu, the 3-digit LED will display the voice number of the current pad, which can be selected by pressing this pad button on the top panel or by pad striking. The select [+] / [-] or [dial] can be used to select any voice (1-215, loop) buttons for the current pad. Set Pad Volume Press the [ volume ] button to enter the pad assign menu. If the pad assign menu is selected, the corresponding menu indicator will be lit up. In this menu, the 3-digit LED will display the volume of current pad, which can be selected by pressing the pad button on the top panel or by pad striking. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to select the volume (-9, loop) for the current pad. E7
8 Set Pad Pan Press the [pan] button to enter the pad assign menu. If the pad assign menu is selected, the corresponding menu indicator will be lit up. English In this menu, the 3-digit LED will display the pan of the current pad, which can be selected by pressing the pad assign button on the top panel or by pad striking. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to select the pan (-9, loop) for the current pad. Set Pad Gain Press the [gain] button to enter the pad assign menu. If the pad assign menu is selected, the corresponding menu indicator will be lit up. In this menu, the 3-digit LED will display the gain of the current pad, which can be selected by pressing the pad assign button on the top panel or by pad striking. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to select the pan (-9, loop) for the current pad. E8
9 Save Kit Press the [save] button to enter the kit save menu. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to select a user kit (21-3, loop) on the current kit setting. During the kit selection, the user kit number will keep flashing. Press the [save] button again; the current kit setting will be saved to the selected kit. The unit will suspend the kit menu and select this user kit as the current one, if all the data has been saved successfully. English If saving has failed due to error, an Err will appear on the LED. Note: The unsaved kit setting will be lost after changing the kit. E9
10 OPERATION Play Song English Press the [song] button to enter the song menu. The default value is 1. The 3-digit LED will display the current song number with the corresponding menu indicator lit up. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to select the current song (1-1, loop). This value will be auto-saved after adjusted. Adjust Accompaniment Volume In the accompaniment volume menu, the digit on the left side of the LED will display the letter A. The two digits on the right side will dispaly the current accompaniment volume. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to adjust the volume (-9, not loop). This value will be auto-saved after adjusted. Drum Off Pressing the [drum off] button will enable or disable the drum off function when a song is playing. If the drum off is enabled, the drum voice will be turned off and the drum off indicator will be lit. This function is quite useful for practicing. E1
11 Adjust Tempo Function Press the tempo [+] and [-] buttons to enter the tempo menu. The [+] and [-] buttons can be used to change the current tempo (3-28, not loop), which affects the speed of clicking and the song playing. Pressing both [+] and [-] will reset the current tempo to its default value (current song tempo). English Metronome The metronome will run once a song is playing but with only indicator flashing. Press the [click] button for human voice counting. Press [click] button twice for clicking sound. Press the click button again to turn off the clicking. Hand Percussion Press the [hand perc] button to enter the hand percussion mode and the hand mode indicator will be lit. The song number is 5 and the kit number is 21. Demo Function Press the [demo] button to start or stop a demo song playing. The 3-digit LED will display de, you can also press [start / stop] button to stop the demo song from playing. 12 Adjust Reverb Function English Press the [reverb] button to enter the reverb function. In this menu, the digit on the far left of the LED will display letter R. The two digits on the right will display the current reverb level. The select [+] / [-] buttons or [dial] can be used to adjust the reverb level (-3, not loop). This value will be auto-saved after adjusted. Record Function Prepare to Record Select the desired song, drum kit, tempo, drum off setting, and reverb settings. Start Recording Press the [rec] button, the light will begin flashing. Press the [start/stop] button or strike the pad, the light will stop flashing and the recording process begins. Stop Recording To stop recording, press the [start / stop] button or [rec] button. The record indicator will turn off. If the memory is full, "FL" will appear on the display and the recording process stops automatically. Note: When you start the recording, the vocal metronome also starts to count. However the sound of the vocal will not be recorded. To stop the metronome, press the [click] button. Playback Function Pressing the [play/stop] button will start or stop playing the recorded song. Note: When you record a new song, it will replace the previous recording. The song data recorded will be lost when you turn off the power. E

PHONES KICK HI HAT USB V USB Jack This appliance will output all the MIDI codes generated by pad striking or pedal stepping via the MIDI output connector. Clicking and the MIDI codes in songs are excluded. It also receives the MIDI data from an external device. E13

El cuidado de su Batería Digital Portátil Para el mejor uso de su Batería Digital, por favor siga las instrucciones para el mantenimiento a continuación. ( Conectar los auriculares no silenciará los terminales de salida). Terminales de entrada del pedal [ KICK / HI-HAT ] Terminales de entrada de pedales Kick y Hi-Hat. Terminal USB Este puerto se utiliza para conectar todo el dispositivo externo. Terminal DC Se conecta a un adaptador de corriente DC V. ( Tal como se indica en la PÁGINA S6) Para conectar los pedales de control para el pie [ 1 & 2 ] Los pedales que se incluyen se pueden conectar a la unidad para tocar las voces hi-hat o bass drum de la batería simultáneamente. También se les puede asignar que toquen otras voces. Nota: No presione el pedal mientras lo está conectando a la unidad o mientras enciende la corriente. [Al conectarlo de esta manera con la unidad encendida, la función del pedal pudiera invertirse.) S5
24 CONFIGURACIÓN Módulo de Alimentación Su batería digital trabajará con pilas o con el adaptador de corriente que está incluido. Siga las instrucciones a continuación de acuerdo con el tipo de corriente que piensa usar. Uso con el Adaptador AC Conecte el adaptador de corriente al terminal DC IN situado en el tablero de atrás de la unidad, y enchufe el adaptador de corriente AC en el tomacorriente de AC. Uso con Pilas 1. Abra la tapa del compartimiento de las pilas debajo de la unidad. Español 2. Introduzca seis pilas de tamaño C, R14 SUM-2, o su equivalente. Al poner las pilas, siga las marcas de polaridad en la ilustración. Nota: Le sugerimos que use pilas alcalinas. No use otro adaptador excepto el que está indicado. La descripción técnica del adaptador es DC V de salida, de tipo centro positivo. 3. Cierre firmemente el compartimiento de las pilas. NOTA: La alimentación eléctrica automáticamente pasará por el adaptador AC, si se conecta un adaptador AC opcional mientras hay pilas instaladas en el instrumento. PRECAUCIÓN: Se le recomienda que cambie las pilas gastadas tan pronto como sea posible. Cuando baja el voltaje de las pilas, se oscurece el visualizador y / o el sonido se distorsiona. Cuando esto ocurra, cambie las pilas por un juego completo de seis pilas nuevas, todas del mismo tipo. NUNCA mezcle las pilas nuevas con las viejas; tampoco use tipos diferentes de pilas [alcalinas, de magnesio, etc.], o pilas de marcas distintas, o las que son de la misma marca pero de tipos distintos. El uso incorrecto pudiera causar recalentamiento del instrumento, resultar en un incendio, o causar que las pilas suelten sustancias químicas. También para evitar daños causados por pilas echadas a perder, saque todas las pilas del instrumento cuando no lo va a usar por un largo tiempo. Si se instalan las pilas en este instrumento y éste no se usa por un período largo, perderán su potencia. Uso con Auriculares Unos auriculares estereofónicos opcionales pueden conectarse al terminal PHONES/OUTPUT, situado en el tablero de atrás. Cuando los auriculares estén conectados al terminal, los altoparlantes internos de la unidad se apagarán automáticamente [perfecto para practicar en privado o para tocar por la noche si es tarde]. Si usted prefiere usar el sistema externo de sonido, el terminal para auriculares también se puede usar para conectar la batería digital a un sistema estereofónico o una consola mezcladora.
