3 La Gazette EDITO P3 Glion in the top 3 in the world for students preparation to international careers acquisition by Laureate Education, has generated an even faster pace of change. This year's intake saw our number of nationalities climb to an impressive 82. This makes GIHE unique. The future is bright and the importance of our Association is only going to increase and will need your continued support in the years ahead. Our Institute has always had the rare ability to produce graduates with an international perspective and with an understanding and respect for different cultures - in other words - World citizens. This quality has recently been confirmed in a recent survey which placed Glion in the top 3 in the world for preparing students for an international career in hospitality management. We are joined in this top trio by the Hotel School Lausanne and our sister school Les Roches in Bluche. We can be very proud to be ranked as top in the world, the result of immense dedication by faculty and staff over many years. It also cements Switzerland's position as the number one destination for quality hospitality education. Dear AAG members, It is both a privilege and a pleasure to be given the opportunity to present our newest edition of the Gazette of GIHE. This publication is the result of much effort and dedication on the part of the AAG Committee and I would like to thank them for a job well done. I joined GIHE on 06 August 2007 and could not have asked for a better vehicle to communicate to all of you worldwide. I am delighted to join such esteemed institution and will do my utmost to support all its members in achieving our objectives going forward. Glion has been a place of change and progress right through its 40+ years of existence and the relatively recent developments, such as the It will be our goal to prove the survey right by making sure our Institute keeps producing top class graduates for the industry of hospitality, sports, events and entertainment of the future, both in academic terms and, equally importantly, in attitude. 4 Chères Glionnaises, Chers Glionnais, Eh oui, le temps passe, c est bien pendant 6 années que j ai présidé l association des Anciens. Honneur et bonheur pour moi durant cette période de rencontrer ces hommes et ces femmes qui partagent la même passion de l hôtellerie et des métiers qui l entourent dans des contextes souvent si différents par delà le vaste monde. Il n y a pas de réussite sans passion, passion de servir, de se dépasser, de répondre aux attentes des clients, voire de les émerveiller. J ai eu la joie de rencontrer pendant ces années bien des Anciens. Ils ont tous cet engouement chevillé au corps et témoignent un attachement profond à notre école. Que ce soit en Malaisie, en Afrique du Sud ou au Mexique, tous et partout portent haut et fort les couleurs de Glion. Gardons la flamme qui anime ce Spirit of Glion si intense et si vigoureux. Vous en êtes les ambassadeurs et je ne doute pas qu il saura se propager sous l effet de l action du réseau des Anciens. Pensons qu à chacune de nos assemblées générales ce sont plus de 30 nationalités et 30 promotions qui se croisent. La joie de s y retrouver est palpable, et chacun d évoquer le bon vieux temps, de réveiller le souvenir de nos professeurs qui nous ont marqués à jamais. Entretenons la flamme qui anime le Spirit of Glion On ne reçoit dans la vie que lorsque l on sait donner, son temps, son amour, son écoute aux autres. C est un engagement que je me suis fixé avec Glion et qui perdure depuis 30 ans. Avec moi beaucoup d autres, plus discrètement souvent, mais non moins efficacement ont fait le même cheminement. Je les en remercie. 5 La Gazette EDITO P5 Glion takes you to the top with the Alumni Que de temps passé, que de chemin parcouru depuis la naissance en 1962 du Centre International de Glion accueillant ses 42 premiers pensionnaires... Fort de ses étudiants (dont 840 sur les campus) et de ses Anciens, Glion Institute of Higher Education est devenu aujourd'hui l'un des fleurons de «Laureate International Universities» qui ne compte pas moins de étudiants dans le monde et forme aussi le plus grand réseau international d'universités privées au monde. Après avoir été dirigé par Debbie Prince depuis 2005, Christian Beek (un Ancien de H 77-79), est devenu le nouveau Directeur Général depuis août 2007 ; grâce à eux et aux hommes et femmes qui les entourent, notre gentille Ecole accrochée sur son rocher est en train d'acquérir ses lettres de noblesse tant en matière de reconnaissance académique internationale via l'accréditation du NEASC (et pourquoi pas HES dans un horizon très proche), que par la reconnaissance que le monde des Professionnels lui confère. Ces accréditations qui nous ont souvent fait défaut, consacrent enfin la qualité de notre Institut, de ses programmes, de ses enseignants, et bien-sûr, de ses élèves... Malheureusement, ces quelques lignes qui me sont offertes dans cette Gazette nouveau format qui vient de renaître, seraient bien trop courtes pour vous détailler tout ce qui s'est passé au cours des derniers mois, voire des dernières années, mais elles doivent cependant nous permettre de retisser, à l'image de la fibre du papier qui lui sert de support, le lien nécessaire qu'il doit y avoir entre le Passé, le Présent et l'avenir, entre les anciens membres de l'aag et les plus récents. Depuis maintenant plus de 10 ans que je participe à nos Comités et Réunions d'anciens, je peux sans crainte vous affirmer que nous avons un socle de valeurs communes, d'expériences à échanger, de tutorat à exercer. Le monde professionnel est notre aire de jeu, aidons-nous les uns les autres et partageons nos expériences, faisons briller la flamme de l'esprit Glion. Nous aurons au mois de mars prochain l'occasion de nous retrouver dans un cadre exceptionnel à Chypre, chez l'un d'entre nous, et mon souhait le plus fort, même si les places sont limitées, est de pouvoir tous vous y retrouver. Continuons de maintenir cette chaîne qui nous unit, développons ensemble le monde de demain. 6 Firstly what is Competence? Dr. Debbie Prince is the Director of Academic Affairs of GIHE. In this picture taken during the graduation ceremony she is moving the tassel of the student to symbolize the transition moment from undergraduate to graduate. Management Competence: How does the Industry view Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE)? This is defined in the American dictionary of English as: the possession of required skill, knowledge, qualification, or capacity. In his pioneering study published in 1988, Richard Tas presented the competences required by hospitality graduates. These came from a survey of 75 US based hotel general managers. Tas thought that in an environment of increasing complexity it is important that the graduates of university programmes in hotel and restaurant management be able to function effectively as management trainees. And that Recruitment would be substantially more successful if the would-be managers had attained competence in the specific areas that will make for an effective manager. Tas defines these competencies as those activities and skills essential to perform the duties of a specific function. Because of this research much changed in the way hospitality degree programmes were designed. Subsequently, other researchers looked to see how reproducible the work was in other countries and with other cultures. Whilst some differences were seen, many of the key findings have been validated by other research. So what competencies did Tas and others find important? The most important ones come under the headings of Leadership and Inter-Personal Skills. The Leadership set covers the skills of: Operating effectively and calmly under pressure or in a crisis Maintaining professional and ethical standards in the work environment Demonstrating professional appearance and poise Developing positive customer relations Striving to achieve positive working relations with employees based on perception of work interaction. Motivating employees to achieve desired

7 La Gazette MANAGEMENT P7 performance The Interpersonal set covers the skills of: Interacting smoothly with a wide variety of people Managing guest problems with understanding and sensitively Communicating effectively both in writing and orally Human relationships. I am truly hoping that this list is reassuring to you both as graduates and as current managers! You should know that you have these competences. I certainly can think of a number of events and experiences we made you experience in GIHE that have provided you with opportunities to practice and develop many of these skills. Remember those first difficult moments in the restaurants serving customers? The dress code? Working in a project team and managing group dynamics to achieve your goals? Motivating your team to meet your own personal standards? But it is more interesting to see what external people see in Glion graduates! We conducted our own survey of HR managers in Glion graduates were evaluated against employer experience of other university graduates. Over 600 hiring managers around the world were asked to participate. We had a response rate of 21% (136 responses) from 39 countries. The results of the survey showed similarities with other published work in terms of the competences that were valued by employers. The following competences were evaluated in this survey as: Professional attitude and appearance: Glion graduates were ranked as exceptional or excellent by 79% of respondents. Respectful of others and customer orientation: Glion graduates were ranked as exceptional or excellent by 80% of the respondents. Team orientated, hardworking, and motivated; Glion graduates were ranked as exceptional or excellent by 70% of the respondents. Customer orientation was considered in our employers survey as the most important competence, this is the same as other published research has indicated. As students in GIHE your experiences with your peers as customers, with outside guests coming into the institution, with customers in your internships and your understanding of the theoretical models concerning handling complaints or customer satisfaction have significantly influenced the way in which employers view GIHE graduate skills and abilities. The other interesting feature of the published research is that these core competences are not industry specific. Managers across many service industries require the same competences to succeed. Thus GIHE has transferred many of the curriculum concepts to our Event, Sport and Entertainment programmes. And graduates will be able to work in a range of service-related industries as their careers develop. GIHE s education allows for graduates to move as their interests move because of the solid framework of management competence that is part of the GIHE vision of management education. 8 UN CORPS PROFESSORAL À CROQUER Willy Quenon Aldo Moser Bernard Blatter Claude Theodore Michel Rochat Alexandre Cusin Willy Quenon a été le directeur de l institut de Glion dans les années 1960 et La montagne n avait plus de secrets pour lui et dès que l occasion se présentait il partait pour de longues ballades. Il est aujourd hui décédé. Aldo Moser notre plus célèbre prof de compta qui a évoqué le cas de Pierre pendant 30 ans au moins! Il a ensuite entamé une carrière de peintre de grand talent et expose ses œuvres dans les galeries de la région du Léman. Bernard Blatter professeur d architecture, conférencier hors pair était un grand amateur d art sous toutes ses formes. Il a été conservateur du musée des Arts de Vevey. Claude Theodore a été professeur de technique hôtelière durant 34 ans! Il a été également la cheville ouvrière de l AAG en tant que secrétaire général durant plus de 30 ans, secondé par son épouse Michèle. Il excellait dans l art de raconter des histoires drôles vécues. Il connaissait tous les Anciens. Michel Rochat directeur et professeur de food and beverage. Il a écrit plusieurs manuels qui font référence dans notre profession. Homme élégant et raffiné, son violon d Ingres était le piano, art dans lequel il est passé virtuose. Alexandre Cusin, doyen des professeurs, professeur remarquable de français, de correspondance et de sociologie. La qualité de son enseignement a marqué la mémoire de nombreuses générations d élèves. Il est décédé voici 4 ans.

9 Après l hôtellerie, la peinture. Aldo Moser ou comment réussir deux carrières Chers Anciennes, Chers Anciens, La Gazette PROFESSEURS P9 En prenant congé de vous tous, lors de la 37 e Assemblée générale à Djerba, je terminais ma brève intervention en vous disant : Je ressens de plus en plus fréquemment un besoin de tranquillité, de silence, d espaces vierges et je me réjouis à l idée d avoir bientôt du temps. Du temps pour rêver, pour profiter des merveilles de la nature, pour donner libre cours à mes envies de création dans le domaine de la peinture abstraite. Depuis un peu plus de 5 ans, je consacre effectivement l essentiel de mon temps à la peinture. J investis dans la création autant d obstination que de quêtes de spontanéité et c est dans l art du peu, laconique et délicat, que je cherche mon langage pictural. Douze expositions m ont permis d accrocher aux cimaises de différentes galeries plus de 150 œuvres. Toutes ou presque ont trouvé acquéreur. Une cinquantaine d entre elles ont été réunies dans une plaquette intitulée Presque rien et pourtant Des articles de presse qui ont été consacrés à ces présentations, je me permets de citer un extrait de celui qui résume bien ma démarche artistique : Les tableaux d Aldo Moser dépassent rarement les mesures d un carré de 25 cm. Mais quelle charge émotionnelle apaisante ou stimulante se dégage de chacun d entre eux! Sur des supports aussi divers qu improbables, il réalise des œuvres d une infinie subtilité. Abstraits, ses petits formats le sont tous, mais ils possèdent ce charme indéfinissable que l on retient au premier coup d œil, cette touche d équilibre ou de couleurs qui évoquent le mouvement et l étincelle de vie. Gérard Jaquenoud. Ce succès inattendu dans un domaine fort éloigné de ma carrière à Glion a un mérite, il m aide à trouver la sagesse de l insouciance du lendemain! Aldo Moser Ancien Directeur

10 Chers Anciens, Anciennes, En attendant d avoir le plaisir de vous revoir tous à Glion, voici quelques nouvelles sur l évolution de l école dans le domaine de la restauration et en particulier dans votre cher Restaurant Bellevue. Le rôle de ce dernier est d initier les étudiants aux différents styles de service en restauration, comme vous le savez d ailleurs. Jusqu au début des années 2000 une solide équipe de professionnels de la restauration travaillaient sur un modèle d enseignement basé sur des valeurs fondamentales du service traditionnel. Du guéridon à la carte, le restaurant Bellevue s adapte à l évolution du service en salle Ces principes d enseignement de service au restaurant Bellevue ont perduré durant des années sous la forme de la mise en application d un service de menu fixe, les styles utilisés au restaurant étaient surtout à l anglaise et au guéridon, reflet d une époque glorieuse de la restauration classique mais qui tend à s essouffler, voire disparaître de nos jours. Nous sommes passés à un système de service à la carte plus réaliste et plus motivant pour les étudiants, serveurs et clients y trouvent leur compte car le concept est très proche de la réalité de l industrie hôtelière. Nous avons réussi en douceur le changement de concept du restaurant Bellevue pour se rapprocher d une méthode plus efficace mais aussi plus en phase avec les exigences du terrain. L idée d un service à la carte fait rapidement son chemin et viendra remplacer le service du menu 3 plats qui ne plaît plus et qui ne trouve plus sa place parmi une clientèle d étudiants toujours plus pressés et demandeurs de changements dans le domaine du service des repas. Les avantages de ces changements sont multiples et renforcent notre image aussi auprès de l industrie hôtelière par une meilleure formation avant de commencer le stage en entreprise : - Les étudiants sont mis en situation de service à la carte ce qui implique une plus grande prise d initiative et une approche plus personnalisée face à la clientèle. - La prise de commande reste un moment clé qui permet à l étudiant de mieux

11 La Gazette PROFESSEURS P11 communiquer avec les clients, aspect très important dans la restauration moderne. - La commande sera ensuite tipée sur une caisse électronique Micros puis envoyée directement en cuisine et en pâtisserie. Evolution majeure dans le domaine du service, cette technique doit impérativement être acquise. - La satisfaction des clients du restaurant Bellevue est accrue grâce à de nouveaux horaires qui permettent d ouvrir plus tôt et d accueillir les étudiants qui le désirent sous forme de réservation de tables individuelles allant de 2 à 8 couverts maximum. On note également un regain de popularité au restaurant dû à plus de liberté dans le choix des mets étant donné que la carte change toutes les 2 semaines avec des plats et des saveurs nouvelles. Alors, convaincus? On attend avec impatience de vous recevoir et vous montrer ce que la nouvelle génération de Glionnais est capable de faire, en ce qui me concerne vous recevoir est toujours un plaisir. Salut à tous au fait on a perdu au Rugby face à Lausanne en novembre 2007, par contre on avait gagné en REMEMBER! A MESSAGE TO ALUMNI Remember, dear Alumni, that from 1962 for 32 years, at the Glion International Centre under its president, a team of motivated teachers and administrators took up the many challenges and led the CIG to its widespread reputation We offered a regularly revised and updated professional education responding to the demands of the profession. Then came the growth of the feminine element in the business; our young women becoming ever more present and effective both in school and in the profession. Let us also mention the significant coming together of the Centre and the hospitality and tourism professions: the celebrated Career Weeks. How many personalities came to talk simply and openly of their professional progress: managers of de luxe hotels, the founder of the Club Med, the two co-presidents of the Accor group, the president of McDonald s, the managers of holiday centres and, of course, Glion graduates came to communicate their own experiences and successes.

12 Votre vue du Bellevue Another of the Centre s activities was the consulting department, allowing the management and teachers permanent participation in consulting and training missions across the world. And what can we say of that other dimension: culture in its broadest sense; for example, the painting exhibitions such as that of Oskar Kokoschka in the artist s presence, jazz or classic concerts we can pick out the recital by the great pianist Maria-Joào Pires, sought after world wide, who came out of friendship. A complete list would be far too long. These challenges motivated the teaching staff and the students then. What can I wish you today? For each, great satisfaction and happiness in the rich hospitality-tourism profession, but also a varied and rewarding personal life. In my own case, I turn more and more to my music and my piano, which I had never abandoned the 5thfloor piano at the Centre , the recital of etudes romantiques in the Aula in 1988 giving rise to a CD! 13 Dear Alumni, Six years after the Gazette was printed for the last time in 2002, you hold the new edition in your hands! For many Alumni, the paper Gazette was important because it symbolized the memories of Glion and it linked the community of Glionnais together. Many things have changed in 6 years: at that time, the Alumni Association of Glion counted members. Six years after, we count members (+56%) registered on our database. This growth reflects the growth of Glion: During the last year only, the AAG database has been enriched by 200 new profiles from graduating students and by 77 profiles of Alumni who graduated a long time ago and who were not on our database. Most of them have been found by other Alumni who have transmitted their data to the AAG office. Welcome to these new members. What is the value of the Alumni network? The variety of the professional experience of our members is amazing, from corporate office hotel chain managers to specialists of financial services; you can pick up the phone and talk to a fellow graduate you have not seen for ages; you can call someone you have never met before because he has something in common with you: Glion. You can share pleasant social moments; you can also communicate business opportunities and benefit from insider information about companies or markets. The essence of networking is the circulation of information among members sharing common interests. La Gazette SITE P13 Stay connected! How can Glion Alumni contact each other? You can find the telephone numbers and the addresses of Alumni who have posted their personal details on our web site in a few clicks and if you say hello, I am from Glion, it opens the doors because of the strong common shared experience; open-mindedness and willingness to help have always been features of the Glion Spirit. You can use the search engine included in to find the list of the Alumni living in your country, your city, or working for the same company as you; other functionalities are available. You can participate in the local get-togethers which are organized by the chapter delegates; you will be warmly welcomed. The delegates manage the database of Alumni living in their country. You can find the addresses of chapter delegates in or ask the AAG office. If there is no chapter in the region where you live, why not consider becoming the next AAG chapter delegate? The Internet has become an important instrument in AAG communication because it is flexible and allows fast communication around the world. The AAG is constantly striving to improve its web site

Currently, Facebook declares that more than new users connect daily to this website in order to make friends or to develop personal networks. The AAG will have an entirely new community web site, which will be ready to operate in spring 2008; the old, unreliable system will retire. The new CEO Christian Beek and the new IT manager Christophe Friedli have supported this decision, which has been financially approved by Laureate. The AAG is grateful to Glion Institute of Higher Education for making this Internet development possible. Our future web site will be more dynamic, interactive and will offer additional functionalities like the possibility to post personal pictures, CVs and to develop blogs; this will allow Alumni to virtually meet other Alumni sharing common interests or similar responsibilities on other continents (believe me, it s fun!). When I have presented this project in class to my 200 current students, they were enthusiastic about the concept, which is familiar to their generation. They are looking forward to helping the older Alumni discover the charm of these new technologies. The success criteria for our new web site (it will be free of charge) is that Alumni take the time to register, to discover and enjoy the functionalities it offers. Success will depend on their perception of the benefits that this type of hospitality focused network can generate. The strength of a network depends on the quality of information that the members are willing to share and the first step towards quality is the precision of the personal data (addresses, telephone, field of activity, etc.) that each Alumnus will enter into the system. 16 La création du site web de la volée Glion En novembre 2004, j ai été invité à une réunion à Paris l'occasion du passage de Jean-Jacques Poutrieux. Je suis allé, ravi de l occasion de pouvoir rencontrer des Anciens de Glion depuis mon retour à Paris. J ai revu Jean-Jacques avec grand plaisir, rencontré Karine Hyon qui à l époque était en charge de l antenne des Anciens à Paris, d autres Anciens bien plus jeunes que moi, mais 18 ans après avoir laissé Glion, je n ai malheureusement revu personne de ma promotion H C était d autant plus dommage que je n avais pas revu énormément d Anciens depuis mon départ de Suisse. On s est dit ce soir-là qu avec internet on devrait pouvoir trouver des s pour renouer des liens. C est un peu ce qui s est passé, en partant de 4 s valides d Anciens, aujourd hui nous sommes 130 à avoir repris contact, tous présents à Glion entre 1986 et Cela nous a permis d être 18 de notre promotion inscrits lors de la dernière assemblée à Paris en mars 2006 et de passer un excellent et mémorable moment ensemble pour fêter notre 20 e anniversaire. Aujourd hui je pense que ça a rapproché le groupe et a permis de faire des belles retrouvailles, dont la dernière a eu lieu pas plus tard qu en décembre dernier, à l occasion du passage à Paris d un Ancien vivant à Montréal. Je pense que l effet boule de neige et l envie commune à tous de reprendre contact ont été importants dans la démarche. Il fallait inciter chacun à donner les coordonnées des Anciens connus ainsi que de chercher dans son cercle pour retrouver trace de ceux qui avaient disparu et remonter jusqu à pouvoir trouver des coordonnées actuelles. Afin de faciliter la recherche et partager les nouveautés, j ai créé un site web. Il fallait trouver un moyen de stocker l information qui circulait, les photos, l annuaire avec les données de chacun mais avec un accès sécurisé pour éviter que cette information soit librement accessible sur internet. Au fur et à mesure que l on recevait des messages ils étaient stockés sur le site pour permettre aux derniers trouvés de ne rien rater des nouvelles et de l historique des échanges. Ensuite Fred Illouz au Brésil a eu l idée de scaner les years books, puis nous avons commencé aussi à publier les photos récentes qui circulaient. Je pense que la technologie a simplifié tout le processus. D ailleurs deux ans après, il existe aujourd hui d autres moyens tel le wikis, les réseaux sociaux à la LinkedIn ou des sites spécialisés comme Alumni.net pour mettre en place plus facilement ce type de démarche mais cela ne reste que des moyens. La finalité de tout ça étant de retrouver des amitiés qui se sont perdues avec le temps et de trouver le temps de se revoir pour renouer et partager le passé mais aussi le présent et maintenir ainsi le réseau vivant. En ce qui me concerne, aujourd hui, dès que je suis en déplacement, j ai le réflexe de consulter l annuaire de notre site glion ainsi que le AAG Directory ( pour contacter un Ancien de Glion là ou je voyage. 17 La Gazette ALUMNI P17 The expectations of students towards the Alumni network: a need of mentoring What does a young undergraduate like me about to be thrust into the big world of hospitality expect from their Alumni? That is a question that many students ponder and have little knowledge of. To enhance it and understand more about how Alumni work, it would probably be a good start to meet more of them! It would give undergraduates the chance to meet successful Alumni and really appreciate the importance of such a group not only by the contacts gained but also by realising that these individuals have had the same education and similar experience thereby increasing the undergraduate s incentive for success. Simply, it would show the students who are apprehensive about the slow start to the top that with a little patience, talent and positive attitude, success can be achieved. La semaine à Zinal, un incontournable pour des générations de Glionnais The truth is that many students are anxious about starting from the bottom with typically minima wages no matter how optimistic they can be. This could be the reason why some Glion students are emotionally stimulated by Alumni; they may feel that these Alumni members could nurture them almost as a family. If graduating students could benefit from Alumni as mentors in the companies which hire them or in the destinations where they get their first jobs, that would reduce their anxiety about starting their career. An older Alumnus will strive to ensure success for a younger alumnus by being his coach, therefore young undergraduates would take great comfort in knowing that if they are successful their efforts would not be overlooked. 18 Glion, my pass to a Radisson varied international career Already during the studies at Glion, I had the opportunity to get in touch with Radisson SAS Hotels as I did the first internship at their Hamburg hotel. I was positively surprised by the service attitude not only towards guests but as well within the organization. That is why I accepted their job offer, once having completed the studies. I started my career as a front office clerk at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Hamburg and after 6 months, I moved to the housekeeping department (my passion since the housekeeping course in Glion with Mr Robert Martin). After a short cooperation with Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, I was called back by Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts for a job as Executive Housekeeper at their Milan property. Having completed that mission, I was transferred as a Rooms Division Manager to their Estonian property in Tallinn. After one winter and - 40 C, I went back to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Hamburg before joining the Radisson SAS es. Hotel in Rome. There I was accepted at the Mentor Mentee programme, preparing future GMs to their new responsibilities. 20 Il y a quelques années les experts auraient probablement répondu ainsi à la question quelles sont les tendances du tourisme? : la fragmentation des vacances, la diminution de la durée des séjours, le développement des vacances sur mesure, la segmentation de la demande et le développement de nouvelles niches, l augmentation du nombre de touristes du 3 e âge, etc. Ces tendances sont toujours actuelles aujourd hui. Les tendances de la demande touristique : une nouvelle approche de la question Toutefois les experts ne se contentent plus d identifier les changements de la demande touristique (la pointe de l iceberg) mais intègrent davantage cette évolution dans le cadre des changements de notre société. Dans cette approche, les tendances du tourisme sont plus difficiles à isoler ; elles sont déterminées par les forces politiques, économiques, sociales et technologiques qui façonnent le monde. Ces forces ne poussent pas toutes dans la même direction et il apparaît que chaque tendance génère aussi une tendance opposée ou contre-tendance.
