3 Introduction Exports play a vital role in sustaining the economic vitality of the northeastern United States seafood industry. Food Export USA Northeast promotes the region s seafood industry and seafood products to foreign markets around the globe. Our programs, services, and activities connect suppliers of Northeast fish and shellfish products to individual seafood buyers worldwide. This brochure details some of the generic promotion activities that we conduct on behalf of the seafood industry to help grow foreign market demand. About Our Seafood Export Marketing Program Food Export Northeast is the USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service s designated authority to administer federal Market Access Program (MAP) funding to increase exports of the region s seafood products. The organization conducts broad, generic promotion of the region s seafood industry and also provides direct assistance and financial support to individual seafood companies. The organization s Seafood Export Marketing Program encompasses the Northeast U.S. seafood industry and the fish and shellfish products harvested from the region.

10 Encouraging Menu Placement Through Chef Education Introducing chefs to Northeast U.S. seafood products in Asia. We support culinary demonstrations and competitions to encourage chef interest and hands-on experience using fish and shellfish products from the northeastern U.S. The resulting recipes and media attention surrounding these events also spur additional chef and consumer interest to further pull U.S. seafood products into foreign markets.

11 Twenty leading chefs from prestigious restaurants along the French Riviera (Provence, Côte d Azur, Monaco) developed recipes utilizing U.S. scallops, lobster and monkfish. These recipes were featured in the renowned industry magazine L Epicurien. Chef Patrick Raingeard of the restaurant La Mandarine in Monaco created the recipe, U.S. Scallops and Italian Truffles à la Plancha.
