1 United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women CEDAW/SP/2012/2/Add.1 Distr.: General 12 May 2012 Original: English/French ADVANCE UNEDITED VERSION Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women Seventeenth meeting New York, 26 June 2012 Item 5 of the provisional agenda* Election of 11 members of the Committee, to replace those members whose terms are due to expire on 31 December 2012, in accordance with article 17, paragraphs 4 and 5, of the Convention Note by the Secretary-General Addendum 1. In accordance with article 17, paragraph 4, of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Secretary-General invited the States parties to the Convention to submit their nominations by 9 March 2010 for the election of 11 members of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. Information on 20 persons nominated is contained in CEDAW/SP/2012/2. Seven additional nominations have been received, as follows: Lawrence William Musonda (Zambia), Muna AbuSulayman (Saudi Arabia), Fatou Kiné Camara (Senegal), Sarah Al Sharji (Oman), Virginie Sheryl Nicole N Dessabeka (Congo), Mabruka Sheriff Jabril Maidani (Libya), Ms. Sawsan Al-Barrak. 2. The curricula vitae of the above-mentioned candidates, as furnished by their Governments, are attached (see annex). 3. In a note dated 10 April 2012, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Botswana to the United Nations informed the Secretariat of the decision of its Government to withdraw the nomination of Unity Dow as a candidate for election to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. 4. In a note dated 27 April 2012, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations informed the Secretariat of the decision of its Government to withdraw the nomination of Mr. Lawrence William Musonda as a candidate for election to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. * CEDAW/SP/2012/1.

Autres activités principales dans le domaine intéressant le mandat du Comité pour l élimination de la discrimination à l égard des femmes: Très active depuis bientôt douze (12) ans au sein de l Association des Femmes Juristes du Congo dont l objet est principalement la sauvegarde et la promotion des droits humains de la femme et de l enfant. Membre, depuis 2009, du Conseil de la Fédération Internationale des Femmes des Carrières juridiques ayant en charge la commission santé. Première Secrétaire du Forum des Femmes des Grands Lacs Section Congo, depuis Ce Forum est un organe de la Conférence Internationale des Pays de la Région des Grands Lacs et il a pour principale mission de plaider et d effectuer du lobbying pour les questions spécifiques relatives aux femmes dans le Pacte de la Conférence et d autres instruments régionaux et internationaux relatifs aux droits des femmes. 10 1- Participate in preparing annual work plan of the ministry and supervising to implement work plan of Monitoring Performance and Rights Protection Directorate. 2- Follow up preparing the special reports by inspection groups and monitoring the violations of (right to work. Right to health, right to learn, right in housing, and other) 3- Representing the ministry in joint committees and memorandum with other ministries related to special women and people with special need rights. 4- Providing the consultation in projects of the laws amendments related to economic, social and cultural rights. 5- Preparing the official responding of local and international messages and the questioner comes to ministry in respect to rights (the child, the women, minorities, special needs people). 6- Participate with Iraqi universities and international organizations in preparing national strategy or preparing project to repair national legislations which focus against some persons or required amendments. 7- Representative of the ministry of human rights in membership of higher committee to protect the family in coordinating with UNDP. 8- Reprehensive of the ministry of human rights in the committee of preparing national strategy to fight the violence against the women and supporting by UNFPA.
