Originally from the city of Madras (now called Chennai, the capital of the Province of Tamil Nadu in south-east India), Madras fabric was imported into the Caribbean towards the seventeenth century. French quality The 100% cotton MADRAS collection is woven in the Basque region of France by a company that has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label ( living heritage business). The MADRAS design was developed on looms using 100% cotton threads in six different colours: trade-wind blue, saffron yellow, papaya orange, star-fruit green, redcurrant red and orchid white.
