Vous devez vous renseigner auprès du coordinateur international de la composante concernée (voir page précédente) pour connaître les dates exactes de début des cours. You should consult the international coordinator at the faculty in which you are enrolled (see previous page for a list of the coordinators). The University is closed for vacation: from 21 December 2011 to 2 January 2012 from 27 February to 4 March 2012 from 23 to 29 April 2012 from 24 July 2012 on 8

9 University library Amphitheater Langue d enseignement Les formations sont dispensées en langue française. Il est de ce fait fortement recommandé aux étudiants étrangers d avoir un niveau minimum de français (B2 du cadre européen de référence pour les langues, sauf pour l IUT et l ENSIAME qui demandent un niveau B1). L UVHC propose une série de cours en anglais, en «Business Administration and Management» de niveau Licence (60 crédits) à l IUT et en «Transportation» de niveau Master (semestre d automne, 30 crédits) à l ENSIAME (voir le catalogue des formations en ligne). Language of instruction Courses at UVHC are taught in French. It is therefore highly recommended to have a minimum level of French (B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference, except for the IUT and ENSIAME where the minimum level required is B1). The University does offer courses taught in English, in Business Administration and Management at Bachelor level (60 credits) at the IUT and in Transportation at Master level (autumn semester, 30 credits) at the ENSIAME. 10 Informations pédagogiques / information about courses 10 Cours de langue française Cours de français à l UVHC L UVHC dispense gratuitement des cours de langue française aux étudiants étrangers pendant toute l année universitaire, d octobre à mai (3 niveaux : débutant, intermédiaire et avancé). Ces cours ont lieu à la Faculté de Lettres, Langues, Arts et Sciences Humaines (FLLASH) et commencent début octobre. Les inscriptions se font sur place, à la FLLASH. Chacun des 3 cours correspond à 3 crédits ECTS. Plus d infos sur nos pages dédiées aux étudiants étrangers (cliquer sur «me renseigner» puis «cours de français»). Alliance Française de Valenciennes L Alliance Française de Valenciennes propose des cours de français, payants. Ces cours commencent en septembre. Contact : sylvie.dubart@sfr.fr Plus d infos sur les cours de l Alliance française : Hebergement/82/ Université d été de Boulogne-sur-Mer (UEBM) L Université d été de Boulogne-sur-Mer propose des cours de français, payants, de 2 à 5 semaines entre mi-juillet et mi-août (les frais comprennent les cours, l hébergement, les repas, les loisirs et activités culturelles). Plus d infos sur : Catapult French-as-a- Second- Language (FSL) classes French classes at UVHC UVHC offers free French classes at 3 levels (novice, intermediate & advanced) for international students throughout the school year, from October until May. These classes are conducted in the Faculty of Literature, Languages, Art and Humanities (FLLASH) and start at the beginning of October. Registration takes place directly at FLLASH at the beginning of the semester. Each subject equals 3 ECTS credits. For more information in English, click on «etudiants étrangers» on the UVHC website and then click on the British flag, which will take you to the pages in English intended for International Students. Then, click on «information» and «French lessons». Alliance Française in Valenciennes The Alliance Française in Valenciennes offers French classes for a fee. These classes start in September. Contact: sylvie.dubart@sfr.fr For more Information, please consult the Alliance française website ( Hebergement/82/). Summer School (Université d été) in Boulogne-sur-Mer (UEBM) UEBM offers French classes for a fee. These classes last from 2 to 5 weeks, from mid-july to mid-august. The fee covers classes, accommodation, meals and some leisure/cultural activities. For more information, please consult

11 Venir à l UVHC Campus «Le Mont Houy» et résidence universitaire Jules Mousseron : de la gare de Valenciennes, prendre le tram, direction «Université» et descendre à l arrêt «Le Mont Houy» (voir plan d accès pages 12-13). Pour trouver le campus Mont Houy avec l aide d un système de navigation, entrer l adresse «Rue du Chemin Vert» à «Aulnoy-lez- Valenciennes» Campus et résidence universitaire «Les Tertiales» : 10 mn à pieds de la gare de Valenciennes (voir plan d accès pages 14-15). Le Service des Relations Internationales (SRI) de l UVHC propose d organiser un service de ramassage à l aéroport par navette payante qui vous mènera directement à votre lieu d hébergement. Pour cela, vous devrez prendre contact avec le SRI par (international_in@ univ-valenciennes.fr) en indiquant la date et l heure d arrivée, l aéroport et le numéro de vol, au plus tard trois semaines avant la date d arrivée en France (avant le 14 juillet pour une arrivée au 1 er semestre, avant le 15 décembre pour le 2 ème semestre). Le SRI contactera des sociétés privées de navette et vous communiquera le devis. Le paiement sera effectué auprès du chauffeur. Coming to UVHC To get to the Mont Houy campus and the Jules Mousseron university residence hall from the Valenciennes train station, take the tram in the direction, «Université», and get off at the Mont Houy stop (map and access: see pages 12 & 13). To find the Mont Houy Campus with a navigation system, enter following address: «Rue du Chemin Vert» for «Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes». The Tertiales campus and university hall of residence is 10 minutes away from the Valenciennes train station. Follow the signs marked «Les Tertiales» (map and access: see pages 14 & 15). The UVHC International Relations Office (IRO) can contact an airport pick-up shuttle service for you that will take you directly to your accommodation. To get an estimate for this service, you should contact the IRO by (international_ in@univ-valenciennes.fr) at least three weeks before you plan to arrive in France and provide your date and time of arrival, the airport and the flight number. For a September arrival, you need to contact the IRO before July 14th (for semester 1) and before December 15th (for semester 2).The IRO will contact the private shuttle companies to get a price estimate and then forward the estimate to you. 16 Informations pratiques/ Practical information Date d arrivée recommandée Il vous est vivement recommandé de participer au séminaire d intégration (voir ci-dessous) pour effectuer toutes les démarches administratives et logistiques nécessaires, et d arriver à Valenciennes : le 29 août 2011 (pour le 1 er semestre) le 16 janvier 2012 (pour le 2 ème semestre) Séminaire d intégration Le SRI organise un séminaire d intégration au début de chaque semestre, avant le début des cours. Le séminaire se déroule dans les locaux du SRI sur le campus «Les Tertiales» (Bâtiment Ronzier, 1 er étage) situé au centre ville de Valenciennes (voir plan d accès page précédente) : du 30 août au 2 septembre 2011 pour les étudiants qui arrivent au 1 er semestre du 17 au 20 janvier 2012 pour les étudiants qui arrivent au 2 ème semestre Le séminaire commence toujours le mardi à 9h30. Tertiales Recommended arrival date You are strongly advised to participate in the integration seminar (see below) in order to complete the necessary administrative tasks and to make logistical arrangements. The IRO recommends arriving at Valenciennes the day before the integration seminar starts: on August 29 th 2011 (for autumn semester) on January 16 th 2012 (for spring semester) Integration Seminar Before the beginning of each semester, the IRO organizes an integration seminar which takes place at Tertiales Campus (Ronzier building, 1st floor), located in the town centre (map and access on previous page): From August 30th to September 2nd 2011 for students arriving at the 1st semester (autumn semester), from 17th to 20th January 2012 for students arriving at the 2nd semester (spring semester). 18 Informations pratiques/ Practical information 18 Formalité d entrée & de séjour en France LE VISA Selon la nationalité et la durée de votre séjour en France, Il peut être nécessaire de vous munir d un visa pour la France avant le départ. Les demandes de visa se font auprès du Consulat français dans votre pays de résidence. Plus d infos sur le site du Ministère Français d Affaires Etrangères et Européennes (site disponible en plusieurs langues) : (cliquer sur «espace étudiants» puis «étudier en France/ Démarches administratives») Si vous êtes ressortissant de l Union Européenne (UE), de l Espace Economique Européen (EEE) et de la Suisse, vous n avez pas besoin de visa pour entrer en France. Vous pouvez vous y rendre avec votre carte d identité ou votre passeport en cours de validité. Si vous n êtes pas ressortissant d un pays membre de l UE et souhaitez effectuer un séjour d études en France de plus de 3 mois, vous devrez obtenir un visa de long séjour portant la mention «étudiant» auprès du Consulat français de votre pays d origine. Vous devrez vous munir de la lettre d acceptation et de la lettre d invitation fournies par le SRI de l Université de Valenciennes lors de votre passage au Consulat français (vous devrez également produire d autres documents : se renseigner auprès du Consulat français de votre lieu de résidence). Tertiales French entrance & residency procedures VISAS Depending on your nationality and the length of your stay in France, you may need a visa. If so, you need to procure this visa before leaving your home country. Visa requests are made through the French Consulate in the country where you have citizenship. More information is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs ( This website is available in French, English, Spanish, German, Arabic and Chinese. For English, click on «English» in the upper left corner and then click on «Studying in France» and «What are the administrative steps?». If you are resident of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, you do not need a visa to enter France. You simply need a valid national identity card or passport. If you are not resident of the countries mentioned above and wish to study in France for longer than 3 months, you must obtain a long-term student visa from the French Consulate in your country of origin. You will have to show at the French consulate the admission and invitation letters the IRO of the University of Valenciennes sent you (you will also have to produce other documents: please contact directly the French consulate). 19 l Office Français de l Immigration et de l Intégration (OFII) Depuis juin 2009, les étudiants étrangers (à l exception des étudiants algériens) qui disposent d un visa de long séjour (supérieur à 3 mois) sont dispensés d effectuer les démarches pour l obtention d un titre de séjour à leur arrivée en France. Lors de la remise du visa pour la France, le consulat français de votre pays d origine vous remettra une demande d attestation OFII (Office Français de l Immigration et de l Intégration) dont vous devrez vous munir pour votre séjour en France. Dès votre arrivée à l université de Valenciennes, vous devrez compléter les rubriques concernant le numéro de votre visa, votre date d entrée et votre adresse en France. Vous remettrez le formulaire au Service des Relations Internationales, ainsi qu une copie de votre passeport et de votre visa. L UVHC se chargera d adresser les formulaires à l OFII. Vous recevrez par courrier, à votre adresse en France, une attestation de réception du formulaire. L OFII vous convoquera ensuite à une visite médicale, si la visite n a pas été passée dans le pays d origine (visite effectuée par un médecin agréé par l OFII). Pour la visite médicale, vous devrez apporter : votre passeport (avec visa), un justificatif de domicile, une photo d identité, les timbres OFII (mention ANAEM ou OMI) correspondant à 55 e et, le cas échéant, le certificat médical si la visite a déjà été effectuée dans le pays d origine (par un médecin agréé OFII). On peut acheter les timbres OFII dans certains bureaux de tabac ou dans les centres des impôts. For medical examination, you will have to bring: your passport (with visa), a certification of residence (written proof of your address in France), an ID photograph, OFII stamps (with the mention ANAEM or OMI) worth 55 EUROS. If you already went through a medical examination with an OFIIcertified doctor in your home country, you will also have to bring your medical certificate with you. 20 Informations pratiques/ Practical information 20 Logement Le Service des Relations Internationales de l UVHC donne la possibilité aux étudiants étrangers en échange de réserver une chambre dans l une des résidences du CROUS (Centre Régional des Oeuvres Universitaires et Scolaires) de Valenciennes : résidence Jules Mousseron (campus Le Mont Houy) résidence Les Tertiales (campus Les Tertiales) Le loyer en résidence universitaire coûte en moyenne de 217 e (chambre simple avec toilettes et douche) à 340 e (studio avec toilettes, douches et kitchenette) par mois, le prix étant fonction de la surface de la chambre et du confort souhaité. Le loyer est plus élevé pour un appartement de type T1 (studio). Pour effectuer une demande de réservation de logement, vous devez remplir un formulaire, le signer et le retourner au Service des Relations Internationales avant le 15 juin pour le 1 er semestre, avant le 1 er décembre pour le 2 ème semestre. Le formulaire est téléchargeable à la rubrique «Etudiant étranger», puis «Vivre sur le campus» puis «Me loger». Si vous avez réservé une chambre en résidence universitaire (et reçu une confirmation de réservation de la part du Service des Relations Internationales), vous devrez produire, lors de votre arrivée dans la résidence du CROUS, les documents suivants : 1. la lettre d acceptation à l UVHC 2. une copie de votre passeport ou de votre carte d identité 3. 2 photos d identité 4. une copie de la carte d étudiant de votre université d origine 5. une copie du passeport ou de la carte d identité de votre garant* 6. un justificatif de domicile du garant* (facture récente d électricité, de gaz, de téléphone fixe etc.) 7. une copie de la dernière fiche de paie de votre garant* A votre arrivée, vous devrez vous acquitter du 1 er mois de loyer ainsi que de la caution. Vous pourrez payer en cash ou par carte bancaire (il est utile de prévoir du cash). * Le garant doit être ressortissant de l U.E. Accommodation The International Relations Office (IRO) makes it possible for International exchange students to reserve a room in one of the CROUS (Centre Régional des Oeuvres Universitaires et Scolaires) halls of residence in Valenciennes: Jules Mousseron on the Mont Houy campus, or Les Tertiales on the Tertiales campus. The cost of a room in one of these halls of residence ranges, on average, from 217e (furnished room with individual bathroom) to 340e (studio with kitchenette and individual bathroom). The price depends on the surface area of the room and the level of facilities desired. T1 apartments (studios) are available at a higher cost. To reserve a room in these halls of residences, you need to fill in the accommodation request form, sign it and return it to the IRO before 15 June for the Autumn semester and before 1 st December for the Spring semester. The form can be downloaded by clicking on «Etudiant étranger», then «vivre sur le campus», then «Me loger». The heading, «Me loger» can be obtained in English by clicking on the British flag in the upper right corner. When you arrive at the residence hall, if you have reserved a room in a CROUS residence hall, and have received confirmation of your reservation from the IRO, you must present the following documents: 1. a copy of the acceptance letter from UVHC, 2. a copy of your passport or national identity card, 3. 2 passport photos, 4. a copy of your Student ID card from your home university, 5. a copy of the passport or national identity card of the guarantor*, 6. a copy of the proof of residence of the guarantor* (for example, a recent bill for electricity, gas or telephone). 7. a copy of your guarantor s* last payslip At your arrival at the residence, you will have to pay the first month s rent and the deposit (equivalent to one month rent).
