3 Outcomes: Databases of thematic mapping are used in countries of the sub region and feed systems of environmental surveillance; Monitoring systems for crop and environmental surveillance with integrated tools for decision support are functional across countries and sub region, and fed on an annual basis by field data collection supported through the satellite observation; The capacity of agencies responsible for environment monitoring and thematic mapping are reinforced. Information materials are produced and disseminated to various stakeholders and beneficiaries: Thematic and spatial maps are developed, updated and published every five years; Bulletins tracking crop and on the state of the environment are produced on an annual basis and sub-regional analysis every two years; A website specially dedicated to the project, providing information on project progress and sharing the products it generates.

5 Key and transferable results/innovations in the areas of information processes, stress reduction environmental status, M&E, best agricultural practices that are of interest to other MENARID projects The stakeholders of Sustainable Land Management and Water (SLM / W) and planning in the countries have a complete thematic mapping and management tools (database, models... ), used for planning of a comprehensive and integrated development in the sub-region; The decision makers integrate the products of crop monitoring and surveillance of the natural environment in the mechanisms and decision-making bodies SLM/W and planning experts take ownership of tools to monitor crop and natural resources monitoring systems to strengthen their production data and information; The agricultors/farmers establish their owner monitoring system. M&E will be a common activity for the farmers (self M&E)

6 Major challenges and constraints threatening successful output delivery in your project - little involvement of the key players could affect the dynamics of the network operations, - Lack of coordination at national level, - Lack of approach harmonization at regional level, - lack of synergy with other projects / programs implemented in the subregion, - Sustainability of the project activities after the financing support (by the project),

7 Priority for individual/joint capacity-building needs Training sessions for national key players in different thematics related to the project Awareness and vulgarization sessions dedicated to the decision makers and local populations use of international expertise to strengthen capacity of national experts

9 Management Unit and Financial and Administrative Coordination. Administrative coordination : OSS, Steering committee: representing the countries of the subregion and the General Secretariat of the AMU, ICARDA/ MENARID, GEF and other partners; Scientific and Technical Committee: composed of experts in the sub-region, FAO, UNEP, UNESCO, and the JRC.

10 Priority areas that should be considered for change/improvement in IW projects. - significant improvement of the sustainable management of water resources, - take in the account the impacts of CC by using preventive measures to preserve the sustainable management of water - improvement of the access to water resources for populations and agriculture - identification of available water resources and their monograph using new technologies (GIS )
