Ahmed Chaouche SVT Mme Laure Lucas-Fradin Mme Laure Lucas-Fradin Histoire des arts Histoire des Arts coordinator : Pierrick Chalaye INTRODUCTION This new topic «Histoire des Arts» consists in a long term work of a group of students, preferably 2, or 3. The main goal of this work is to produce a work of art, to be able to present the background of the artistic movement and to explain the different steps of their work, including the choices they had to make. They will have to manage their own schedule to complete the different steps of the work. The teachers will be there to help and to advise the students. They will also give them a program to be able to organise themselves. The students will need to take time after school, during the weekends, or holidays in order to complete the different steps of the program and be ready for the oral exam (Please refer to the calendar below). Students must understand that, as IDD (in Year 7 - cinquième) and then TPE (in Year 10 Première), Histoire des Arts is a stand-alone task. The assessment of the Histoire des Arts will be based on the following skills : an analysis of art competence oral production skills - the development of student s curiosity and artistic creativity discovery of the profession and professional training of their artistic focus.

2 In 2013, the students will have to follow the main theme : Art of protests CALENDAR OF THE DIFFERENT STEPS, EVENTS OF HISTOIRE DES ARTS + BREVETS BLANCS TERM Weeks Steps 1-6/ Events TERM Weeks Introduction Creation of the groups 3 4 Excursion Studying different 5 aspects of the main theme : The contesting art Groups explain their work to the coordinator 6 6 Official presentation of their (future) work to the french proviseur : Emmanuel Texier Brevet Blanc Deadline for the specific topic choice TERM Weeks 10 TERM Weeks 5. Beginning of the production step : creation of the work of art, research and professional meetings if possible Oral exam of all groups 4 Groups meet the 4 5 coordinator, Pierrick 5 6 Chalaye Diplôme National du Brevet blanc 9 6. Deadline : students must 9 give their production to the coordinator METHODOLOGY (REFER TO THE CALENDAR ABOVE) Brevet Général : The students will communicate by with the coordinator, specifically for the deadlines and the different needs or problems of each group. If there is any problem in a group, the students must get back to the coordinator in order to find a solution. The students should keep a specific notebook to write down each step of their work and problems, needs encountered. They might show that book to the coordinator at any moment if they need. This book will certainly help them to be organized, without

3 missing any important point for the exam, and it should be a proof of in their involvment in their progressive work. Steps and events : Step 2 Creation of the groups : as the students choose their groups, they have to keep in mind that they need to see each other outside of the school and to organize their own schedule. Being friends is a good point but friends who students are able to work efficiently with is the best way. Excursion : A one day excursion is being planned which should be located at the National Gallery, the Portrait Gallery and the National Film and Sound archive. The teacher coordinator will get back to you soon with more information. Step 3 will occur in different classes, including Français and Histoire-Géographie to introduce and explain the theme to the students and help them to choose a specific topic Step 4 deadline for the specific topic : students must have choosen their topic and be prepared to the meeting with the coordinator Groups explain their work the coordinator : The students will send their project summarized in a presentation (Powerpoint or other) to the coordinator. This document will also be used for the Official presentation to the proviseur. Official presentation of their (future) work to the french proviseur o The presentation must not exceed 5 minutes, it can include a few pictures o It provide the idea of the work of art each group wants to produce, the research they plan to do, the professional meetings they expect Step 5 : o In one hand, the students do their research about the specific topic they have choosen, they find links between the research and the work of art they plan to do. They should also meet professionals or visite some places related to their work and get feedbacks. o In the other hand, they realise their production by consulting the coordinator During that step, the groups must communicate with the coordinator to let him how they manage their production Groups meet the coordinator : The coordinator will plan a short meeting with each group o At that time, the groups must have almost realized their production and finished their research. o They must show a part (or some pictures) of their production or their work of art o They explain how they will manage their oral presentation Step 6 : Deadline : students must give their production to the coordinator, in Language A faculty to give time to the examiners to see the work of art Oral exam of all groups : o This is an official exam, a letter will be sent a few weeks before the exam to specify the date, time and location of the exam. You will find below an exemple of the letter you will recieve : you must have this letter and an official ID (passport) with you for the exam o The oral is divided in two parts of 15 minutes : Firstly, the group does a presentation (with a Powerpoint) of their project in front of two examiners (teachers from Telopea Park School) which includes

4 a part for their initial project, a part for the artistic background of their specific topic, a part to explain their work of art, a part to give feedbacks of their researches, their meetings with professionals, the problems encountered and their learning Secondly, they will have to answer some questions of the examiners A list of the assessment criteria is provided in the end of this document
