This unit extends the backplane bus power for up to 1 / modules to the right of the supply, and creates a new field voltage partition segment for driving field devices. 2 PNT / V dc xpansion Supply The expansion power supply also separates field power from / modules to the left of the unit, effectively providing functional and logical partitioning for: separating field power between input and output modules separating field power to the analog and digital modules grouping modules to perform a specific task or function ts dark-gray color allows for easy visual inspection and identification. You can use multiple expansion power units with the PNT / adapters to assemble a full system. For instance, if you are using the 173-ADN adapter, you may use a 173-PD expansion power unit to add additional modules in 1 module increments. For example, if you had a 36 module system with a 173 PNT / adapter, you would have two 173-PD expansion power units to provide more Pointus current for modules to the right of the supply.. ATTNTN Do not connect 10/0V ac to the 173-PD terminals. Damage to the supply will result.! ATTNTN! 3 PNT / V dc xpansion Supply 3 nstalling the 173-PD xpansion Supply To install the PD on the DN rail, proceed as follows. 1. Position the PD vertically above the DN rail.. ngage the interlocking side pieces with the unit on the left. 3. Press down firmly to install the PD on the DN rail.. The locking mechanism will lock the PD to the DN rail. To remove an PD from the DN rail 1. To remove the PD from the DN rail, pull up on the RT removal handle (5) to remove the terminal block.. Remove the module to the right of the PD from its base unit. 3. Use a small bladed screwdriver to rotate the DN rail locking screw () to a vertical position.. This releases the locking mechanism. Then lift straight up to remove. f installing a replacement PD to an existing system 1. Remove the module to the right of the PD from its base unit.. Position the PD (1) vertically above the DN rail. 3. Slide the PD down allowing the interlocking side pieces to engage the adjacent modules (both left and right sides).. Press firmly to seat the PD (1) on the DN rail. The PD locking mechanism will snap into place. 5. Reinsert the module into the base next to the PD. Publication 173-N058A-N-P - August 000
