1 2009 VETERAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN GRECO-ROMAN STYLE IN KOUVOLA (FIN) ================================================================================================ 1. GENERAL 1.1 The FILA has entrusted the Finnish Wrestling Federation with the organisation of the 2009 Veteran World Championship in Greco-Roman style. 1.2 The Championship will take place on 4-6 September 2009 in Kouvola (FIN) according to the FILA Rules. Competition venue Ice hall of Kuusankoski Uimahallintie 12 FIN Kuusankoski (Kouvola) 2. PARTICIPATION 2.1 Participation in the Veteran World Championship is open to all national wrestling federations affiliated with FILA, provided that they have fulfilled their financial obligations toward FILA according to the FILA Statutes and Regulations and towards the organising committee as per these Regulations for the duration of the Championship. 2.2 Each national federation shall be entitled to enter as many wrestlers as it wishes. 2.3 All participating countries are required and requested to bring referees according to the normal organization procedures of Championships (maximum one per mat). 2.4 In the framework of the Championship a type "I" referees' course will be held. 3. TECHNICAL CONDITIONS 3.1 The competition will be held according to the FILA rules. 3.2 The competition will be conducted in Greco-Roman style. 3.3 FILA approved mats will be used for the competitions. 3.4 The competition will be held in the following age categories and weight classes. N.B: For all age categories, the weight classes will be identical. Division A years Division B years Division C years 55-58, 63, 69, 76, 85, 97 and kg Division D years Division E +56 years 4. DURATION OF BOUTS 4.1 The duration of the bouts is fixed as follows for all age categories: Three two-minute periods. At the end of each period, a wrestler is declared the winner. The wrestler winning two periods, is declared the match winner. If the victory can be proclaimed after two periods, the third period is withdrawn. The fall stops automatically the match whatever the period. If the match is tied at the end of the bout a limited overtime of 30 seconds will be ordered. Page 1/3

MEDALS AND TROPHIES 5.1 Medals (gold, silver and 2 bronze) will be presented to the first, second, and two third wrestlers in each weight category. Participation diplomas will be presented to all wrestlers. 6. MEDICAL 6.1 Each wrestler has to pass a medical examination in his own country at least three days before leaving his country for the competition. This certificate must be produced at weigh-in or entered in the wrestler s book. 6.2 Each wrestler will undergo a medical examination one hour before weigh-in. 7. WEIGH-IN 7.1 Only one weigh-in during the competition 8. COMPETITORS LICENCE-AGE VERIFICATION 8.1 Any Veteran wrestler who competes in the World Championship must hold an international license. The license is valid only when it bears the FILA stamp for the current year. The stamp is 100 CHF. 8.2 The annuel licence stamp includes the FILA insurance coverage. The organiser and FILA are not responsible for any medical costs with the exception of first aid (at organiser s expenses). 8.3 The team leader and / or the individual athlete will submit all final entries with the age, weight and name of each participant from his country to the Secretariat six hours before weigh-in. 8.4 Each individual participant must submit his passport both at accreditation and to the Secretariat at the weigh-in for proof of age, name and country. 9. ENTRIES 9.1 The official entry forms are to be sent as follows to FILA and the Finnish Wrestling Federation A: Preliminary entry must be sent by 4 July B: Entry by name must be sent by 4 August C: Final entry must be presented to the competition secretariat six (6) hours before the weigh-in. 10. TRANSPORTATION 10.1 All teams, delegations or individuals are expected to arrive and depart from Kouvola. However the organising committee will provide transport from/to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport at the price of EUR 30 per person provided that it has been informed in the entry form Free transportation will be available from accommodation sites and from hotels to the competition venue. METHODS OF ARRIVAL 12.1 Heads of delegations and individual participants will pay their financial costs to the Organising Committee upon arrival, before accreditation For citizens of certain countries it is mandatory to obtain entry visa to organising country. Each participant is responsible for contacting the embassy in his home country to obtain the Visa. 13. CORRESPONDENCE All correspondence regarding the Veteran World Championship must be addressed to FILA with a copy to the organising committee. All the other correspondence must be send directly to the Finnish Wrestling Federation.
