1 REUNION PARENTS PROFESSEURS CE1 B ANGLAIS AVEC RACHEL WENDER MARDI ET VENDREDI Je m appelle Rachel Wender. Je suis britannique et je vis en France depuis 13 ans. Je suis enseignante en Anglais en classe de CE1 le mardi et le vendredi. C`est ma 9ième année à l école bilingue. Avant d arrivée en France, j ai été institutrice dans mon pays pendant 18 ans, dont 3 en maternelle et le reste avec des enfants d âge équivalent à ceux du CE1 en France. C`est donc un niveau que je maîtrise bien! Cette année, tous les mardis et vendredis, les enfants vont commencer à apprendre à lire et à écrire. Les activités seront variées. Nous travaillerons en parlant, en écoutant, en écrivant et en lisant. Nous utiliserons une variété de matériels -de textes, de chansons, de poésies, d`histoires et beaucoup de matériels visuels avec le TBI. ANGLAIS Nous allons utiliser trois programmes principaux : - HAPPY STREET-pour les enfants avec l anglais en deuxième langue. C est un document progressif qui est utilisé dans toutes les classes primaires. C est plein de couleurs et d activités pour l apprentissage de la communication en Anglais oral et écrit. Un devoir par semaine sera demandé. - GRAMMAR FRIENDS 1 (pour tout le monde) -pour apprendre les règles de base de grammaire en anglais. On commencera à utiliser ce livre à partir du 2 ème trimestre. - CAMBRIDGE FUN FOR STARTERS (pour tout le monde) -qui renforce les règles de grammaire qui ont été apprises ave Happy Street. Cette méthode pourra aussi aider les élèves à se préparer pour le concours de Cambridge Starters en fin d`année. HISTOIRE GEOGRAPHIE SCIENCE Nous travaillerons également en «topics» pour les matières comme l histoire, la géographie et les sciences en suivant le programme de l éducation nationale et le travail fait en CP. - En Science, nous travaillerons avec «Macmillan Natural and Social Science», qui offre une approche ludique de la discipline car la manipulation y est importante, favorisant ainsi la mise en place d aptitudes langagières. - En Géographie, nous travaillerons avec «Oxford International Primary Geography», un programme progressif et très bien présenté, qui regorge d informations et d activités pratiques. - En Histoire, nous suivrons un programme proposant beaucoup d activités interactives. Le thème principal est «le temps». Le langage oral y est privilégié, ce qui facilite l entrée dans les apprentissages et les acquisitions. Les enfants auront un devoir à faire à la maison chaque semaine, gardé dans une pochette en plastique. Les livres resteront à l école.

2 ORGANISATION DU MATERIEL Votre enfant aura besoin de vous pour la gestion de ses différents cours et de ses fournitures! Il est préférable d avoir deux cartables, un pour l anglais et un pour le français Merci de vérifier que toutes les affaires d anglais soient bien dans le cartable le mardi et le vendredi ; pas besoin de affaires de français! DEVOIR - Anglais : Il y aura un devoir d`anglais donné le mardi soir (de Happy Street) pour le vendredi suivant : il s agira de lecture et d exercices qui suivent le travail fait en classe. Il y aura aussi entre 8 et 10 mots à apprendre par cœur pour la dictée (spelling test) chaque vendredi. Il n y aura pas de test d orthographe pendant les semaines courtes (2 ou 3 jours). - Topics : Un devoir sera donné le vendredi pour le mardi suivant. Il faudra revoir les pages et le vocabulaire faits en classe dans les différentes matières et apprendre les informations «clé». Il est inutile d apprendre tout par cœur, c est la compréhension qui compte! Il est important que les élèves fassent leurs devoirs chaque semaine car l apprentissage se fait de façon continue et les devoirs consolident le travail fait en classe. Si les devoirs sont faits régulièrement, les révisions des contrôles ainsi que la réalisation de ces derniers sont vécus de façon beaucoup plus sereine. Les devoirs seront notés dans le cahier de texte et aussi sur le site noteebi. CONTROLES CONTINUS Il y aura 12 tests en anglais cette année. Ce contrôle permettra d évaluer les connaissances des deux semaines précédentes. Les révisions seront données bien en avance. SPORT Les enfants auront sport/ ou tennis le mardi, jeudi et vendredi. Pensez à les habiller et à les chausser correctement pour ces activités sportives. Une bouteille d eau est conseillée.

3 ABSENCES PREVUES Merci d informer les institutrices si votre enfant à une absence prévue ou s il doit partir avant 16h30. Cela nous permet de préparer les devoirs et le cartable en avance. Pour toute autre absence, les détails du travail du jour ainsi que les livres nécessaires seront donnés à votre enfant le jour de son retour en classe. PROJET AU PARC ORNITHOLOGIQUE Nous allons travailler avec le Parc Ornithologique Du Pont De Gau pendant toute l année. Pendant le 1 er trimestre, les enfants vont travailler sur les oiseaux, leurs habitats et la migration. Ils vont fabriquer des boules de graisse pour nourrir les oiseaux pendant l hiver. Pendant le 3 ème trimestre, nous allons visiter le parc et voir et comprendre comment vivent les oiseaux de la Camargue. (date de la visite à confirmer). 4 PARENTS TEACHERS MEETING CE1 ENGLISH RACHEL WENDER Tuesdays and Fridays My name is Rachel Wender. I`m English, in France for thirteen years, and I am the English teacher for CE1B on Tuesdays and Fridays. This year is my ninth year at the school with CE1. In England I was a primary school teacher for eighteen years; I spent three years in the Nursery and then with Year 3-the equivalent of CE1-so it s an age group I feel I know quite well! ENGLISH DAYS IN CE1 Tuesdays and Fridays We are going to work hard this year in English! The children will start learning how to read and write in English; activities will be varied and will include speaking, listening, reading and writing and we use of a variety of materials-texts, pictures, songs, poems and stories as well as lots of exciting resources on the inter-active white board. We will be using the following text books- HAPPY STREET- The main English book for non-english speakers. It s a progressive scheme, used throughout the primary school, full of colourful activities focusing on communicating orally and through reading and writing. Weekly homework will be set from this. Pure English speakers will work with Collins Primary English which focuses on inspiring students to reflect, read, discuss and write and has a variety of texts and activities to inspire and develop the students literacy skills. GRAMMAR FRIENDS 1 (for everyone)-which introduces children to the basics of grammar rules. This will start in the second term when the children will have a better understanding of the basic structure of the language. CAMBRIDGE FUN FOR STARTERS (for everyone)-which re-enforces the aspects of language covered in Happy Street and helps children build up skills needed for the Cambridge Starter exam which is open to CE1 students at the end of the year. HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY and SCIENCE (TOPICS) Topics follow the French curriculum and build on work covered in CP. The children have booklets for each subject. For Science we will be working with Macmillan Natural and Social Science a very visual and practical approach to the subject which also builds on language skills. There are cross-curricular links with Geography and History, so this will be the key resource we use for our topic work. In Geography we will also be working with Oxford International Primary Geography, another wellpresented and progressive program full of information and practical activities. We also start using an atlas to develop he children s knowledge of the world map and the location and basic geographical features of France, other English speaking countries and Ireland, ready for the trip in October. In History the main theme is time and we have a program full of interactive activities to facilitate learning and enhance language acquisition. The children will take home the appropriate book each week for homework activities, in a plastic pocket. Other books will be stored at school. ORGANISATION OF MATERIALS The children have a lot of material and equipment to organize! Some children find this easier than others but you will need to help your child, especially at the beginning of the year! It may help to have a separate school bag for English days and one for French days as we ask that your child only brings the books needed for that particular day to school. So, please make sure your child brings his/her English books on Tuesdays and Fridays.

5 HOMEWORK Children will have English homework set on Tuesdays ( from Happy Street) for the following Friday. This will involve some reading as well as exercises which will follow on from work done in the classroom. There will also be between 8 and 10 words to learn for a spelling test every Friday. Your child will need to learn the spelling words by heart. Spelling words are always words seen already at school and will relate to the work covered in English or the topic work. There will not be a spelling homework during the short weeks this year. (3 or 2 day weeks) Topic homework will be set on Fridays for the following Tuesday. This will involve looking at the work done in class in the topic books, learning the key information and vocabulary and sometimes, an activity sheet to complete at home. Your child does not need to learn this work by heart. He/she should understand the concepts and be able to recognize key vocabulary in English. It is very important that all children complete their English homework each week as learning is a continuous process and homework provides useful consolidation of what has been covered in class. If homework is completed regularly, revision and tests become much simpler and less stressful for the children. Homework will be recorded in your child s homework diary as well as on Pronote. TESTS There are twelve English tests throughout the year, based on the previous two weeks work in English and topics. The children will need to revise for these tests. Revision will be given well in advance, again in the Homework diary as well as on Pronote. ABSENCE If your child is absent a list of the work missed along with the appropriate books and materials will be left in the classroom and given to your child on his/her return. It is important that your child completes any work missed. Please let the teachers know if your child is going to leave school early on a particular day or if there is to be a pre-arranged absence. SPORT The children will have a sports and/or tennis lesson on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so they will need to come in appropriate clothing and shoes and to bring a small bottle of water. BIRD PARK TOPIC We will be working with the Bird Park (Parc Ornithologique) throughout this year. We will have a visit from the park in Term 1 where the children will learn about characteristics of birds, habitats and lifestyles. They will also make fat-balls to feed the birds in the school environment during the winter. In term 3 there will be a visit to the park where the focus will be more specifically on the birds which live in the Camargue and we will have a chance to observe the birds and their behavior close up.
