6 I. One hole simulation Tutorial of I-Blast software 6/22 This module is accessible in several ways. From the management window by selecting a blast and clicking «simulation» Or from the design window of a blast, by clicking on «Simulate»\ «Fragmentation (One hole)»

Parameters Tutorial of I-Blast software 8/22 Once the simulation module enabled, a window opens on the tab «Settings» \ Bench hole a) Bench and Hole In this tab you can change the loading pattern, the bench geometry. Loading templates available are those you created previously for the selected site. Selection is made through a drop down menu. To create a loading template, please refer to II-C User Guide Vol.1: Design a blast Here is an example of a bench set :

10 Tutorial of I-Blast software 10/22 b) Geology : Click on «Geology» to define the geology you want for you blast simulation. You can select a default geology or a pre-defined one (geology defined previously by yourself). But you might as well set a new geology by completing the fields. CAUTION: Changes applied will be done only for the «one hole simulation» and will NOT be applied to the site. To change the geology of a site, please refer to III-E User s Manual Vol 1 Design a blast. By default, no fracture was recorded in your bench geology. It is however possible here to define one by choosing a global dip and then determinate banks spacing and measured orientation if necessary. Once the general direction of your dip defined, you can fill the selected fileds: - Altitude : height of the foregead from which the fracture begins - Angle : real dip fracturing class - Thickness : spacing between the fractures Multiple dip is a specifice type, in this one you will be allow to manage two fractures class at the same time.

Projections Tutorial of I-Blast software 12/22 a) Muck pile formation By default, the tab opens with a projection of your forehead simulated «after shooting» and a visualization of the formation of the muck pile. The cursor to the right of the representation allow you to zoom in / zoom out to get a good view of the projcetions. b) Fly-rock range But you can also view a representation of the projections.

18 C. Calibration Tutorial of I-Blast software 18/22 When performing a simulation of the projected maximum distance projection will depend on many parameters, as we saw earlier. The calibration allows you to adjust the maximum projection distance based on measurements made on the ground if that is possible. By simulating a blast having been achieved, you can calibrate the projection distance so that it corresponds to reality. Afterwards this calibration will allow the software to provide results in agreement with this calibration and thus closer to the actual outcome to expect from your shots. Once the bench, loading and other settings compared to the blast that is used to calibrate, we may be interested in that calibration. At first it s necessary to display projections to get a better view of them. In the bottom right corner of simulating a hole in the tab «Projections» is a set of fields and buttons: To activate the calibration, it should firstly check the box «Front»

20 Tutorial of I-Blast software 20/22 Simply enter in the available field, the value of the maximum projection distance measured. Then click on «Calibrate» In this case, it is only projections from the front. In cases where there would be vertical ones at the jam, it would be possible to calibrate them separately as we will see later in this user s guide. The calibration procedure may take a few tens of seconds; a loading bar shows you the evolution of it. The result of the calibration can be seen in the visualization and information available at the top of this tab.

22 Tutorial of I-Blast software 22/22 For future simulations you can choose to take into account the calibration box store Front checked or ignore it by unchecking the box. Once the calibration is performed and stored by I- Blast. To reset this option (and thus relive the calibration), simply click the Reset. A screenshot has been made keeping the calibration performed previously. We changed the load. The screenshot to B when it was made without taking into account the calibration. Given that the calibration had reviewed the maximum distance downward to match the actual measurements, the maximum distance of projection is seen by increased if one ignores the calibration. Lack of «in-situ» measurements In the absence of in-situ measurements to the calibration module is nevertheless efficient. It should just use it on. That is to say that the results will be processed and analyzed against each other and not directly to their numerical results.
