1 French IV/French 202-Syllabus Ms. Wolfe or FRENCH-202 (3 undergraduate credits) Intermediate French Language II Further development of the ability to understand, read and speak French Class schedule runs per VAHS schedule. Course Goals: Students will develop, refine, and advance their language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students will continue to advance their grammatical skills. French Learning Outcomes: Students in French 202 will begin meeting the French minor learning outcomes. Speak standard French at the ACTFL intermediate-high level. Read non-technical prose at the ACTFL intermediate level. Comprehend clearly articulated conversations on everyday topics in standard French at the ACTFL intermediate level. Write about non-technical topics at the intermediate/intermediate-high ACTFL level. Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of French and French-speaking cultures. Have read great works of French and Francophone literature and have a sense of their place in literary history. Research literary and cultural topics and report findings. Reflect on the social values of the culture(s) they are studying and be able to draw reasoned comparisons to their own culture on topics important to the culture(s) being studied. Text: Discovering French: Rouge ABSENCES/TARDIES You are responsible for finding out what you missed by asking a classmate first. Get worksheets from the file rack, notes from a classmate and touch base with Madame. Extra worksheets are for absent students ONLY. There will be a cutoff date for make-up work at the end of each mid-quarter. Missed quizzes should be made up within a week. You may make up quizzes and tests during your study hall, before or after school. Long-term projects must be turned in on time regardless of absence. (exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances talk to Mme.) Grading Policy Participation: 20% of your grade Your daily participation will be tallied your goal is to volunteer at least twice a day. You will also be evaluated on the following: making an effort to speak French while challenging yourself to use the level of language that you are learning being on task while in class being a good listener not interrupting the learning process for others
