3 Grammar points from Module 3 1. Articles In French, nouns are usually preceded by articles. Definite Indefinite Masculine le un Feminine la une Plural les des Indefinite articles The definite articles un, une, des are the equivalent to the English a/an. Definite Articles The definite articles, le, la, les, are basically equivalent to the English the. Anytime the is used in English, a definite article will surely be used in French. In some cases, however, French will use a definite article when English uses no article at all. J ai un cours de français et de maths. = I have a French and maths lesson. J étudie le français et les maths. = I study French and Maths. 2. Negatives With links to the topic the following needs to be noted. Je n ai pas de cours de théâtre = I do not have drama lessons

4 3. Adjective agreements Adjectives are describing words. In French they must agree with the thing that they are describing. Example Mon école est petite. J ai une jupe bleue = I have a blue skirt Key to remember those that are exceptions. They come before the noun! 4. Prepositions

Infinitive still follows the modal verb pouvoir. Avant on pouvait aller au marché tous les jours. = Before you could go to the market every day.

8 10. Perfect tense with avoir PAST TENSE Step 1: Using the verb AVOIR (to have) ADD TO Step 2 : The past participle Avoir- to have J ai I have Tu as you have Il/elle a he/she has Nous avons we have. Watch irregulars! 11. The irregular verbs aller and faire These are 2 more very frequently-used verbs that you will need across all topic areas.

Your teacher will then ask you questions about the photo and about topics related to your studies and school.
