Kita Waldemar, the Chairman of FC Nantes football club, likes this mode of transport and recently became the proud owner of a Citation II. Pourtant à y regarder de plus près lorsque l on côtoie le milieu sportif de haut niveau et que l on doit parcourir les quatre coins de la terre : l intérêt du jet d affaires prend tout son sens. Back when I worked in optics, I thought about the advantages of this mode of transport, but I was all wrapped up in my work, and so I waited. Now I have been using it for five months, and since being introduced to the pleasures of jet travel, I admit that I would hate to be without it. UJ I I take it you use your Citation II often? K.W. I Maybe 'often' is too strong a word. I use it two or three times a month, depending on my travel needs and opportunities. UJ I Quand et comment êtes-vous venu un adepte de ce mode de transport? K.W. I Cela fait plusieurs années que je m intéresse à ce moyen de locomotion. Déjà, lorsque je travaillais dans l optique je réfléchissais aux avantages de ce mode de transport. Pris dans la spirale du travail, j ai attendu. Cela fait maintenant cinq mois que je m en sers. Et depuis que j ai goûté aux plaisirs du jet, j avoue, j ai du mal à m en passer. UJ I J en déduis que vous utilisez votre CITATION II fréquemment? K.W. I Fréquemment, c est beaucoup dire. Je l utilise deux à trois fois par mois, suivant la nécessité et les opportunités de déplacements. UJ I So, the jet really helps you in your work? K.W. I There are many, very simple, advantages. Firstly, this mode of transport is fast and very discreet. When I need to go and sign a contract with a player or bring him here, I use the jet, which avoids the problem of being mobbed by the press and allows me to work in peace. Also, before an important meeting, a jet flight is very relaxing because there is no noise. That way, I can work, on my own or with colleagues. Another plus is the flexibility; the jet is there waiting for you, and you are not under pressure because of a delayed or cancelled flight. And you don't need to keep going through Customs. That is a big bonus. UJ I Does this mean that you consider your business jet to be an essential mode of transport? K.W. I No, I would not quite go that far. Railways and commercial aviation are there and they are very useful for businessmen. You must bear in mind that the jet is a practical tool, but it does generate costs. You have to think carefully before going that route, so that the jet can become a way of making savings. UJ I Le jet représente donc un véritable intérêt pour mener à bien votre travail? K.W. I Les atouts sont multiples et simples. D abord ce mode de transport est rapide et également très discret. Quand je dois aller signer un contrat avec un joueur ou le faire venir, j utilise le jet, cela m évite d avoir toute la presse sur le dos et me permet de travailler tranquillement. Par ailleurs, avant un rendez-vous important, le vol en jet est plus reposant car il est effectué dans un espace feutré. Cela me permet de travailler seul ou avec mes collaborateurs. Autre atout : la flexibilité par rapport au temps. Le jet vous attend, et vous n êtes plus sous pression à cause d un vol retardé ou annulé. Vous n avez pas besoin non plus de passer de multiples contrôles aux douanes. C est véritablement un plus. UJ I Est-ce à dire que vous considérer le jet d affaires comme un mode de transport indispensable? K.W. I Non, je ne suis pas aussi radical. Le train, l aviation commerciale existent et sont extrêmement utiles pour tous les hommes d affaires. Il faut prendre conscience que le jet est un outil pratique mais qu il engendre des coûts. Il faut bien réfléchir avant de se lancer dans l aventure afin que le jet devienne un moyen de faire des économies. 50I jet

I My jet is in fractional ownership and was put into operation by Valljet, a company based in Nantes. There are many advantages to this mode of management. One of them is that Valljet manages the plane, and its maintenance in particular. That is a big relief to me; relying on a dependable company gives me peace of mind, because when I take the jet out, I know it is in perfect condition. Plus, I always have a crew available to me whenever I need one. UJ I De fait, en terme de gestion, quel type d exploitation avez-vous choisi? K.W. I L appareil que je possède est en propriété partagée et a été mis en exploitation chez Valljet, une société Bauloise. Ce mode de gestion procure de nombreux avantages. Tout d abord, parce que Valljet, gère l appareil et notamment sa maintenance. Cela me soulage dans l entretien de l appareil. S appuyer sur une société sérieuse m apporte une véritable tranquillité : quand je prends mon appareil, je sais qu il est en parfait état. En plus j ai toujours un équipage à ma disposition et quand je le souhaite. UJ I Earlier, you mentioned the advantages of being able to relax or work on board. Have you had your plane fitted out in any special way to make that possible? K.W. I Yes, like anyone who has a jet, I have adapted it to my needs. Through a company called Blois Aero Service, I had telephone to give me Internet access. To make the journey more pleasant I also included seats that can be used as beds, as well as a bar. To my mind, the Citation II is a perfect aircraft for a 3 or 4 hour flight: it is quiet and fast, and I can take along seven or eight passengers. What more could I want? UJ I Précédemment vous évoquiez l intérêt de pouvoir vous reposer, la possibilité de travailler à bord. Pour rendre cela possible avez-vous fait des aménagements particuliers dans votre avion? K.W. I Effectivement, comme toute personne ayant un jet, je l ai adapté à mes besoins. Par le biais de la société Blois Aéro Service, j ai fait installé un téléphone et pour avoir accès à internet. Pour rendre le voyage agréable la société R Bell a réalisé des fauteuils couchettes en cuir ainsi qu un bar. Pour moi, le Citation II est un appareil parfait lorsque l on vole 3 à 4 heures : il est silencieux, il va vite et je peux emmener avec moi sept à huit passagers, que demander de plus UJ I So, in the final analysis you are happy with your choice K.W. I I would say so, but as someone who always wanted to be ahead of his time, I should have been aware of this development earlier, and the advantages of this mode of transport. In today's world, where everything is so rushed and always changing, the jet stands out as a mode of transport that is made to measure for businessmen. My advice to those who travel frequently on business, whether or not they are company directors, would be to look into business jets. I Je dirai oui, mais Moi qui ai toujours voulu être en avance sur mon temps je n ai pas pris conscience plus tôt de cette évolution et des atouts de ce mode de transport. A l heure actuelle dans ce monde où tout va vite et où tout est toujours en pleine évolution, le jet s impose comme un mode de transport taillé sur mesure pour les hommes d affaires. Five months ago, Valljet welcomed into its fleet a second Citation II, owned mainly by Kita Waldemar. Valljet will take charge of this plane at the end of May. Based at the La Baule aerodrome, this Nantes-based company should receive a third aircraft in the autumn. Il y a cinq mois, Valljet incluait dans sa flotte un deuxième Citation II dont le propriétaire principal est Kita Waldemar. Un appareil qui sera pris en compte fin mai par Valljet. Basée sur l aérodrome de La Baule, la société devrait recevoir un troisième appareil à l automne. Kita Waldemar: a man for a challenge A former amateur football player, Kita Waldemar started his career in optics, and later worked in the medical industry, specialising in ophthalmology and aesthetics. In 1987, this French businessman from a Polish background won several prizes by creating the Cornéal company. Twenty years later, this company was to become the Number One French company and the fourth European company specialising in ophthalmology and aesthetics. A few years later, he became involved in sport once again by become the successful owner of the Swiss football club FC Lausanne-Sport. Despite his taste for sport, he decided to return to the world of business in order to devote all his energy to his company, which was in full development at that time. Nine years later, football came back into his life. He became Chairman of FC Nantes in August 2007, after buying the club from Dassault for approximately 10 million. This purchase was rewarded with an amazing success, since Waldemar achieved a difficult goal within one season: his club was promoted to the first division. A challenge successfully faced. Quelques années plus tard il renoue avec le sport en devenant propriétaire avec succès, du club suisse le FC Lausanne-Sport. Malgré son goût du sport, il décide de retourner dans le monde des affaires afin de se consacrer entièrement à sa société alors en plein développement. Neuf ans plus tard le ballon rond refait surface dans sa vie. Il devient président du FC Nantes en août 2007, après avoir racheté le club au groupe Dassault pour un montant d environ 10 millions d. Un rachat qui se couronne par une exceptionnelle réussite puisqu en une saison, Waldemar Kita atteint l objectif difficile : celui de faire passer son club en première division.
