4 Parler du temps Today we continue our trip to Dublin and this time Candice tells us about the Irish weather. To ask what the weather is like, we'll say: Il fait quel temps en Irlande? Il fait quel temps aujourd'hui? For a more formal version: Quel temps fait-il en Irlande? Quel temps fait-il aujourd'hui? How about the temperatures? What would we say? Il fait quelle température en Irlande? Il fait quelle température aujourd'hui? You can easily swap "quelle température" by the easier "combien" (how much/many) and the meaning will remain the same: "what's the temperature?". To answer, we will use the verb we used in the question. Il fait 0 (trente) degrés. Il fait -15 (moins quinze) aujourd'hui. Fluency Tips Even though the direct translation of "le temps" is time, it usually refers to the weather, not to the clock. To talk about the weather, we use the verb "Faire". We won't use "être" like in English. Note that the "il" from "il fait" never changes.

"Il pleut" will be pronounced as [i pleu]. Try to pay attention to this change. Du vent Du brouillard Une tempête Wind Mist Strong storm pleut Raining Il... neige Snowing Remember, in the last episode, Candice dropped the "il" from "il y a" and simply said "y a". It applies here too.

6 Now that we know how to talk about the weather, it's time to check how to ask for which clothes to wear. Comment tu t'habilles en avril en Irlande? Lit. How do you dress in April in Ireland? Je prends un parapluie, des bottes et un pull. I take an umbrella, a pair of boots and a jumper. Je porte un manteau, un bonnet et des gants. I wear a coat, a warm hat and a pair of gloves. Quelques vêtements Candice thinks a lot before speaking and is sometimes hesitant. She uses the filler "euh" to gain some time. You can use it too. It's very natural. Il fait froid! Est-ce qu il pleut en avril beaucoup? - Oui oui il pleut pas mal. Soit il pleut complètement. - C est-à-dire il pleut complètement? - Beh il pleut toute la journée. Soit, disons que la météo s alterne entre la pluie, le soleil, la pluie et le soleil. Euh il pleut euh disons une demie-heure mais c est de la petite pluie par contre. C est pas, c est pas une averse, donc c est de la petite pluie, pendant disons une demie-heure, puis ensuite, le soleil revient. - Il fait soleil. - Il fait soleil et puis ensuite la pluie revient. - Et il pleut. - Et il pleut, et ça toute la journée. - Comment tu t habilles dans cette situation?

9 - Euh alors déjà tu prends ton parapluie. - Y a du vent? Parce que si tu as du vent et il pleut, le parapluie, c est pas la peine. - Ah oui oui oui. Comme il fait froid, tu prends un pull. Il faut bien s habiller. - Tu t habilles comme en hiver en France. Et pour les chaussures, tu prends des bottes? - Oui je prends des bottes, oui. - Avril, c est pas la meilleure saison pour aller en Irlande. - Non c est pas forcément la meilleure saison euh après, c est bien quand même parce qu il n y a pas de touriste. Je pense que la meilleure saison, ça reste le printemps mai. - Fin de printemps alors. Donc tu me recommandes d aller en Irlande en avril? Oui plutôt en mai. En mai c est mieux. Oh d accord. Bah écoute, merci pour les recommandations encore une fois. - Mais de rien, avec grand plaisir.

Il fait soleil et ensuite il pleut pendant trente minutes.. Candice prend un parapluie, un pull et des bottes parce qu'il fait froid. 4. Pour Candice, avril n'est pas bien. Elle préfère le mois de mai, la fin de printemps.
