1 COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE L Institut Supérieur de Management de Dakar, Sénégal, grand gagnant de la première édition de la Compétition Internationale des Campus Durables Montréal, 30 août Hier s'est tenue la finale de la première édition de la Compétition Internationale des Campus Durables lancée en février 2013 par la Fondation des jeunes pour un développement durable (FJDD). 3 projets se disputaient la première position de cette prestigieuse compétition. Les 3 projets qui se sont rendus en finale sont : 1- l'université McGill (Montréal, Canada): projet d'harmonisation du système de compost avec le système de récupération du campus; 2-l'Université MacEwan (Alberta, Canada): projet de mise en place d'un module de recherche sur la possibilité de fournir l'énergie nécessaire pour l'agriculture en serre pour l'ensemble de l'année; 3-l'Institut de Management (Dakar, Sénégal): Green Act est un programme qui permet aux étudiants et à la communauté de collecter les déchets de plastiques sur le campus et les communautés voisines, de séparer les plastiques conformément aux normes internationalement reconnues et de vendre les matières recyclables à l'industrie du plastique. Les initiateurs du programme Green Act ont comme objectif d'éduquer et sensibiliser la communauté sur l'impact du plastique sur l'environnement afin de créer un effet positif qui mène à la protection de l'environnement, à la création de possibilités d'emploi dans le secteur du recyclage, et à redonner une force à l'industrie du tourisme et de la pêche. Au total ce sont 13 projets de 7 universités en provenance de 5 pays sur 4 continents qui ont été présentés dans le cadre de la première édition de cette compétition. Après 3 heures d'audition des différentes équipes finalistes, le jury a finalement rendu son verdict. A l'unanimité, l'institut de Management du Sénégal a remporté le premier prix de 3,000$ qui lui sera remis dans le cadre de l'implantation de son projet "Green Act". Nous tenons à remercier les 4 Ambassadeurs internationaux de cette compétition: Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Prix Nobel de la Paix en 2007 au côté du Vice-Président des États-Unis, M. Al Gore; Dr. David Suzuki de la Fondation Suzuki; M. Jean Lemire, réalisateur de la Mission Antarctique; Dr Michel Ricard de la Chaire du développement durable de l'unesco à Bordeaux. Cette première édition de la Compétition Internationale des Campus Durables a regroupé une douzaine de jurys internationaux de haut calibre dont nous tenons à les remercier pour leur rigueur et leur implication dans l'ensemble du processus. Dernier remerciement et non le moindre, sans le support de notre réseau de partenaires internationaux et de nos 3 universités fondatrices; MacEwan (Alberta, Canada), Concordia (Québec, Canada) et Kingston (London, Royaume-Uni), la FJDD n'aurait pu présenter une compétition internationale de ce calibre. Marquez à vos agendas le lancement de la seconde édition de cette Compétition Internationale des Campus Durables qui devrait avoir lieu en octobre 2013 et qui durera 6 mois afin de laisser le maximum de temps aux institutions pour présenter leur projet. 3 PRESS RELEASE The Superior Institute of Management in Dakar, Senegal, winner of the first edition of the Sustainable Campus International Competition Montreal, August 30th, Yesterday was held the final of the first edition of the Sustainable Campus International Competition launched in February 2013 by the Youth for Sustainable Development Foundation (YSDF). Three projects competed for the first position of this prestigious The 3 projects that went to the final are: 1 - McGill University (Montreal, Canada): harmonization project of thecompost system with the campus recoverysystem of the campus; 2-MacEwan University (Alberta, Canada): draft implementation of a research module on the ability to provide energy for greenhouse agriculture for the whole year; 3- Superior Institute of Management (Dakar, Senegal): Green Act is a program that allows students and the community to collect plastic waste on campus and neighboring communities, separating plastics in accordance with internationally recognized standards and sale of recyclables to the plastics industry. The initiators of the Green Act program have as a goal to educate and sensitize the community on the impact of plastic on the environment in order to create a positive effect that leads to environmental protection, the creation of employment opportunities in the recycling sector, and give strength to the tourism and fishing industry.
