4 Alain BALAN Président de l AFTES Notre 13 ème Congrès intitulé ESPACES SOUTERRAINS DE DEMAIN est placé sous la Présidence du Ministre des Transports, Thierry Mariani, et accueille le Ministre des Transports de la République d Azerbaïdjan, Musa Panahov. Notre association aura 40 ans déjà et ce congrès se veut notre mémoire, se veut vous faire partager le savoir-faire de notre profession, se veut vous faire découvrir nos expériences dans la réalisation des tunnels et des espaces souterrains. Jacques Rérolle, Lucien Lupiac, François Cordelle, René Waldmann, Jean Péra, Jean Pierre Pronost et Jean Philippe se sont succédés et ont porté le succès de nos Congrès. Souvenons-nous de leurs mots toujours d actualité : collectivités territoriales et utilisation du sous-sol, infrastructures souterraines des transports et recherche des économies, travaux souterrains en site urbain et aquifère ; les tunnels, clé d une Europe durable et le souterrain, espace d avenir. Notre congrès ESPACES SOUTERRAINS DE DEMAIN est naturellement dans la continuité du Congrès de Monaco qui répondait «aux soucis de notre profession de favoriser la promotion des tunnels et des espaces souterrains comme moyen privilégié pour améliorer les conditions de transport des biens et des personnes, faciliter la densification urbaine et préserver l environnement». Nos conférences vous sensibiliseront à la conception des espaces vers des dimensions et des enjeux nouveaux ; les thèmes répondent à l intérêt de l utilisation sociétale du sous-sol : - Le sous-sol, outil privilégié de la ville durable - Innovations techniques en tunnels urbains - Innovations techniques en tunnels profonds - La longue vie des ouvrages souterrains - Faire aimer les ouvrages souterrains - Financement et contractualisation des projets. Ce Congrès nous permettra aussi quelques réflexions : - Qu est ce qu un ouvrage souterrain dans son apparente simplicité? si ce n est une sorte d alchimie, un composé d incertain, d'imprévus, de savoir-faire et d instinct. - Qu est ce que l humanisation d un tissu urbain souterrain? si ce n est une sorte d alchimie, de prouesse de créativité structurelle que seule permet l alliance d urbanistes, d ingénieurs et d architectes. - Quel est l autre regard sur un réseau de corridors entre les grandes agglomérations européennes? Si ce n est d apporter une intelligence collective dans le cadre d une politique de développement durable. Ces réflexions, nous les partagerons avec : - l Union européenne qui publie son Livre blanc sur la politique des grands axes de transport, - les politiques qui aujourd hui s impliquent et expriment la plus forte demande d enfouissement pour des gares multimodales et des espaces de service, - les démographes, urbanistes, économistes, architectes et ingénieurs pour nourrir leur réflexion sur l avenir souterrain de nos villes, - les jeunes ingénieurs sur l impact géotechnique et environnemental des travaux souterrains, - les étudiants en leur offrant la découverte de nos métiers et la possibilité de terminer leurs études par un mastère tunnels, - la délégation azerbaïdjanaise qui souhaite échanger sur le savoir-faire et les bonnes pratiques pour réussir la réalisation de ses ouvrages souterrains et notamment le Grand Bakou. La Table ronde traitera d abord des agglomérations et de l utilisation de l espace souterrain pour y installer des gares multimodales et des espaces de services, puis des corridors de circulations prioritaires, à partir de quelques exemples : - les grands tunnels ferroviaires alpins, - les nouveaux espaces d échanges des gares du XXI ème siècle, - le contournement et la traversée des grandes agglomérations, - l organisation et la répartition de la mobilité en sous-sol et en surface. Animés par cette conviction que nous sommes à un nouveau tournant de notre histoire avec le Grand Paris des transports, LTF, etc. et que le Congrès de Lyon est porteur d une grande attente, je veux d abord remercier l ensemble des membres du Comité d Organisation, ainsi que les Présidents des Associations belge, espagnole, italienne, portugaise et suisse qui l ont permis et qui ont préparé ce moment fort de la vie de notre association. 6 Alain BALAN President of the AFTES Our 13 th Congress entitled THE UNDERGROUND SPACES OF TOMORROW is presided by the Minister of Transport, Thierry Mariani, and welcomes the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, Musa Panahov. Our association will be 40 years young and this congress aims to be our collective memory, to share our industry s know how and to pass on our experience in the creation of tunnels and underground spaces. One after the other, Jacques Rérolle, Lucien Lupiac, François Cordelle, René Waldmann, Jean Péra, Jean Pierre Pronost and Jean Philippe have driven the success of our congresses. Let us remember the topics they spoke on, which remain just as valid today: local authorities and the use of underground space; underground transport infrastructures and the quest for savings; underground works in urban areas and aquifers; tunnels, the key to a sustainable Europe; and the underground, the space of the future. Our congress, THE UNDERGROUND SPACES OF TOMOR- ROW, is a natural continuation of the Monaco congress, which catered for our industry s need to favour the promotion of tunnels and underground spaces as a way to improve the conditions under which people and goods are transported, to facilitate urban densification and to preserve the environment. Our conferences will raise your awareness of a conception of space that takes on new dimensions and answers new challenges. The themes covered focus on the use of underground space and its advantages for society as a whole: -Underground space, a crucial solution for a sustainable city -Technical innovations in urban tunnelling -Technical innovations in mountain tunnelling -The long life of inderground construction -Making underground space more attractive -Project financing and contracts This congress will also enable us to reflect on certain points: -What goes into the design of a seemingly simple underground structure, if not a kind of alchemy, a combination of uncertainties, unforeseen events, know-how and instinct? -What is the humanisation of the underground urban fabric, if not a kind of alchemy, a creative structural feat that is only possible if town planners, engineers and architects join forces? -What does it mean to take an alternative approach to a network of corridors between the major European conurbations, if not to bring collective intelligence to a sustainable development policy? We will share these reflections with: -the European Union, which is publishing a White Paper regarding its policy on major transport routes, -politicians, whose interest today is strong and whose demands for multimodal stations and service complexes to be put underground are the most strident, -demographers, town planners, economists, architects and engineers to fuel their thinking on the underground future of our towns, -young engineers as regards the geotechnical and environmental impact of underground works, -students, by offering them the chance to discover our sector s various professions and to complete their studies with a tunnels masters, -the Azerbaijani delegation, which is keen to discuss the know-how and good practices required to build its country s underground structures, particularly in Greater Baku. First of all, the Round Table will discuss conurbations and the use of underground spaces for multimodal stations and service complexes, before tackling the issue of corridors for priority traffic, based on a few examples: -the large rail tunnels of the Alps, -new public areas for the stations of the 21st century, -bypassing and crossing large conurbations, -organising and distributing mobility underground and at the surface. Stimulated by the conviction that we are at a turning point in our history, with the Grand Paris transport project, LTF, etc., and that great hopes are pinned on the Lyon congress, I would first of all like to thank all the members of the Organising Committee, as well as the Presidents of the Belgian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Swiss associations, who have made this congress possible and helped plan this key event in our association s existence. Son but est de contribuer au progrès de la Profession et de favoriser l utilisation du sous-sol, notamment en réduisant les coûts, les délais d exécution et l impact des ouvrages souterrains. Il s adresse en particulier aux urbanistes, architectes et aménageurs agissant à l amont des projets de construction, en vue de leur fournir des arguments, des références et idées en faveur d un usage accru du sous-sol, en particulier dans la nouvelle optique de développement durable. AFTES is therefore relevant to all professionals involved in underground engineering, investors, owners, engineers, architects, cityplanners, contractors, equipment manufacturers, consultants, teachers, etc. Furthermore, AFTES maintains permanent relations with other associations and specialist companies with very similar preoccupations to its own: Soil mechanics (CFMS - French Committee for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnology), Rock Mechanics (CFMS), Geology for Engineers (CFGI - French Committee for Geology for the Engineer), Civil engineering (AFGC - French civil engineering Association), Mineral Industry (SIM - Mineral Industry society), trenches technologies (FSTT). De plus, il a initié et pris la tête d un Projet national de recherche intitulé Ville 10D - Ville d idées ; sur la base d exemples concrets, ce projet va fédérer les efforts des chercheurs et des aménageurs pour favoriser un développement urbain intelligent grâce à des utilisations innovantes du sous-sol. Le Comité technique Le Comité technique, fort d une quarantaine de membres, a pour rôle de créer et de piloter les groupes de travail de l AFTES, auxquels participent au total quelque 300 ingénieurs. Ces groupes s efforcent de faire progresser l état de l art dans les divers domaines des travaux souterrains, sous forme de Recommandations techniques, de synthèses et d avis d experts qui sont publiés après validation. Environ 100 Recommandations ont ainsi été publiées depuis l origine dans la revue de l AFTES, les principales étant remises à jour périodiquement. Son action s appuie sur deux outils principaux : -la revue bimestrielle Tunnels et Espace souterrain, bilingue françaisanglais depuis début 2010, -le site internet sur lequel les Recommandations techniques de l AFTES, entre autres, sont téléchargeables gratuitement en français et en anglais. Le Comité Éducation Créé en 2010, ce Comité a la double vocation d intéresser et d attirer les jeunes vers les métiers du souterrain, et de favoriser la formation professionnelle de ses membres, en assurant le lien avec les milieux universitaires. Son action majeure a été la création d une formation supérieure francophone, de niveau bac + 6, consacrée à la conception et l exécution des travaux souterrains. Ce Mastère est organisé par L INSA de Lyon en liaison avec l ENTPE et le CETU, comprend 5 mois d enseignement théorique et 6 mois de travail personnel en entreprise. La première promotion démarre en octobre 2011 avec 12 élèves, dont 6 étrangers. Le Comité d organisation du Congrès L AFTES organise tous les trois ans un congrès international, en liaison avec les associations-sœurs des pays voisins : Belgique (ABTUS), Espagne (AETOS), Italie (SIG), Portugal (CPT) et Suisse (SIA-FGU). Ce Congrès est couplé à une importante exposition technique qui rassemble environ 150 exposants, 400 congressistes et 1500 visiteurs. Les derniers congrès de l AFTES se sont tenus à Toulouse (2002), Chambéry (2005), Monaco (2008) toujours au mois d octobre. Le Comité Matériel, Équipements et Produits Ce Comité regroupe environ 50 fabricants et fournisseurs des divers matériels utilisés en travaux souterrains ; son objet est de favoriser les contacts entre ses membres et les spécialistes des entreprises, dont il s efforce d identifier les besoins. Ce Comité est chargé en particulier de coordonner la participation française aux congrès et salons spécialisés, notamment sous forme de stands communs dans les manifestations internationales. 14 in particular in the new context of sustainable development. Since 2010 the AFTES Underground Space Committee has been developing a close partnership with the Economic, Social and Environmental Committee of Île-de-France. Furthermore, it launched and took the lead in a National Research Project entitled "Ville 10D Ville d idées" [10D Town - Town of Ideas]; based on concrete ideas, this project will combine the efforts of researchers and developers to promote intelligent urban development through innovative use of underground spaces. Technical Committee The Technical Committee, with its forty members, has the role of creating and steering the AFTES working groups, in which a total of some 300 engineers take part. These groups endeavor to advance the state-of-the-art in the various fields of underground work, in the form of Technical Recommendations, summaries and expert opinions published after approval. Since it started, about 100 Recommendations have been published in the AFTES journal, the main ones being periodically updated. Its activities rely on two main tools: The bimonthly Tunnels and Underground Space magazine, published in French-English since the beginning of 2010; The internet site where AFTES Technical Recommendations, among others things, can be downloaded free in French and English Education Committee This Committee was created in 2010 with the double objective to interest and attract young people into underground careers, and to promote the professional development of its members, by providing a link with university circles. Its principal activity has been to create French-language further education at doctoral level, focused on designing and executing underground work. This "Masters" is organized by INSA [National Institute of Applied Sciences] at Lyon in collaboration with ENTPE [National State Civil Engineering College] and CETU [Tunnel Study Centre], includes 5 months of theoretical teaching and a 6 month work experience in a company. The first intake starts in October 2011 with 12 students, including 6 from abroad. The Conference Organising Committee AFTES organizes an international conference every three years, in association with sister associations in neighboring countries: Belgium (ABTUS), Spain (AETOS), Italy (SIG), Portugal (CPT) and Switzerland (SIA-FGU). This conference is combined with a major technical exhibition that brings together about 150 exhibitors, 400 conference delegates and 1,500 visitors. The most recent AFTES conferences were held in Toulouse (2002), Chambéry (2005) and Monaco (2008), always in October. Equipment, Machinery and Products Committee This Committee includes about 50 manufacturers and suppliers of various equipment and products used in underground work; its purpose is to promote contact between its members and ` contractors specialists, whose needs it endeavors to identify. This Committee is particularly responsible for coordinating French participation in specialized conferences and exhibitions, particularly in the form of shared stands at international exhibitions. La galerie parallèle d une longueur de 1700 m et d une largeur de 10m accueillera une piste cyclable, un cheminement surélevé et une voie bus pour favoriser la circulation des transports communs et les modes doux. L objectif est de mettre en service l ouvrage fin Croix Rousse in Lyon The renovation of this road tunnel includes works necessary to comply with new safety standards for underground structures, including the construction of eleven cross passages between the tunnel and the gallery evrey 150 m. This 1700 m long, 10 m wide parallel gallery hosting a bike path, a raised pedestrian lane and a bu track, will be dedicated to public and green mode transport. 16 Ligne B du Métro de Lyon Oullins-Gerland L'extension de la ligne de métro B vers Oullins, d une longueur de 1km 800 est un chantier gigantesque pour desservir le Sud-Ouest lyonnais avec un mode de transport performant, rapide et fiable. La mise en service est prévue pour décembre La ligne du métro desservira une nouvelle station : Oullins Gare. Elle sera intégrée à un pôle multimodal composé de la station de métro, la gare SNCF, deux parcs-relais TCL offrant environ 450 places de stationnement et une gare de bus de m². Lyon Metro Line B Oullins-Gerland The extension of the Metro line B towards Oullins, a distance of 1,800 km, is a gigantic worksite to provide South- West Lyon with an efficient, rapid and reliable transport link. It should go into service in December The Metro line will serve a new station: Oullins Gare. It will be part of a multi-modal hub including the metro station, the railway station, two parts and ride car-parks offering about 450 parking places and a bus station on 4,500 m². It brings together all circles interested not only in the design, the construction, the use, the operation and the maintenance of underground achievements, but also in the planning of the underground in its broadest sense, including the basic principles of urban underground life, and all disciplines concerning the use of the underground, with its environment (underground space), its safety (construction and operation) and its security. Activities It organizes with this aim activities for its members and participates in the activities of the international associations it is linked with, as the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES), of which it is co-founder, its Committees and Working Groups, and the Road Tunnels Operation Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC- AIPCR). Conférences : : stockage souterrain du CO2 (+ Assembée générale de l ABTUS)* Chantiers et projets significatifs (situation supposée au ) Le tunnel Diabolo (photo 1) fait partie de la liaison ferroviaire entre la gare existante sous l aéroport de Bruxelles (3 voies, actuellement en cul-de-sac) et la ligne à haute vitesse (en cours de réalisation) entre Bruxelles et le Nord (Anvers, Pays-Bas). Il créera une liaison directe entre Anvers et l aéroport et permettra des liaisons plus aisées et sans rebroussement de Bruxelles et du Sud (France, Luxembourg) vers l aéroport. Le tunnel comporte 2 tubes et a une longueur de 1,5 km dont 1,1 km foré en grande partie sous l aéroport. Les travaux de parachèvement sont en cours. Mise en service présumée en La liaison ferroviaire Schuman- Josaphat (photos 2 et 3) se situe dans le cadre de la réalisation du Réseau Express Régional prévu pour Bruxelles et sa périphérie. Elle consiste en un dédoublement sous la partie Est de l agglomération de la jonction ferroviaire Nord-Midi ouverte en 1952 (6 voies, quotidiennement saturées). Le tunnel proprement comporte un seul tube d une longueur de environ 2 km. Il a été réalisé par différentes méthodes se rapprochant toutes de la tranchée couverte, adaptées localement aux conditions drastiques et divergentes d environnement imposées par les divers permis de construire. Significant worksites and projects (situation supposed on ) The Diabolo tunnel (photo 1) is part of the railway link between the existing station underneath the airport of Brussels (3 tracks, now in blind tracks) and the high speed line (under construction) between Brussels and the North (Antwerp, the Netherlands). It will allow a strait link between Antwerp and the airport, and better links without going back from Brussels and the South (France, Luxemburg) to the airport. The tunnel has 2 tubes and a length of 1,5 km of which 1,1 km bored under the airport. The finishing works are going on. Supposed opening in The railway link Schuman-Josaphat (photos 2 and 3) is part of the Regional Express Network foreseen for Brussels and its surroundings. It is in fact a doubling under the Eastern part of the city of the North-South railway link put into operation in 1952 (6 tracks, daily on saturation). The tunnel itself will be about 2 km long in one tube. It has been carried out by various methods all linked with cut-and-cover, locally adapted to the drastic and diverging environmental conditions imposed by the various building permits (one for each intervening local community), notably as far as the accesses to the worksite are concerned. The tunnel links in the South to the line Brussels-Luxemburg at the combined station Schuman (railway-metro : photo 3), which has to be fully renewed without disturbing the operation of AFTES CONGRÈS INTERNATIONAL LYON 2011 // 19 // AFTES INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS LYON 2011

21 (un par commune locale traversée), notamment en ce qui concerne les accès au chantier. Le tunnel se raccorde au sud à la ligne Bruxelles-Luxembourg au droit de la gare combinée Schuman (rail-métro : photo 3), qui doit être entièrement renouvelée sans perturber le fonctionnement ferroviaire et métro ; il passe à cet endroit sous une partie de certains immeubles occupés par les services de l Union européenne. Au nord, le tunnel se raccorde en souterrain à une autre ligne ferroviaire existante ; ce raccord se fera par la technique des tubes poussés formant toiture. Perspectives : achèvement du génie civil en 2014 ; mise en service présumée en Le tunnel ferroviaire Liefkenshoek (photo 4) se situe entièrement dans la zone portuaire au Nord d Anvers, et permettra une meilleure desserte des 2 rives de l Escaut, sous lequel il passe, de même que sous les darses et canaux d accès du port sur les 2 rives. Il se situe à proximité du tunnel autoroutier Liefkenshoek, construit au moyen d éléments immergés, et ouvert à la circulation (péage) en Le tunnel ferroviaire a une longueur totale de 8 km, dont 5,5 km en 2 tubes forés. Perspectives : un tube foré, achèvement du génie civil en 2013 ; mise en service présumée en Le tunnel Oosterweel à Anvers fait partie de la fermeture Nord du premier périphérique autoroutier, qui n est actuellement fermé que par le tunnel Liefkenshoek situé trop au Nord et mal raccordé au réseau autoroutier à l Ouest. Ce tunnel à péage, d une longueur de au moins 2 km pour passer sous l Escaut et la partie la plus ancienne du port, fait l objet de nombreuses discussions politico-techniques, qui n ont pas encore abouti à une localisation largement acceptée de son extrémité Est ; le tunnel pourrait ainsi avoir une longueur nettement plus importante. L idée d une liaison souterraine entre les sections Sud-est et Sud-ouest du Ring autoroutier de Bruxelles ( Périphérique Sud ) a été lancée pour éviter le détour par la partie Sud du Ring, beaucoup plus éloignée des zones à desservir que le reste du Ring. Une telle solution, à moitié souterraine et à moitié dans une tranchée ferroviaire existante (et en service) avait été envisagée dès les années 70 pour fermer le Ring, mais refusée pour des raisons d opportunité politique locale. Le tunnel long, qui serait susceptible de remplir cette fonction, pourrait avoir une longueur de 8 à 12 km en fonction de la localisation de l extrémité Est, et comporter un ou deux accès intermédiaires. L idée, lancée au départ par l IRF Belgium, n a pour le moment obtenu aucun accord, ni politique ni financier. Les études viennent d être lancées via un groupement international pour la réalisation de l antenne Nord du métro de Bruxelles, entre la gare du Nord (actuellement train-prémétrobus) et la gare Bordet à Evere (actuellement train-tram-bus), soit une longueur de 4 km, entièrement en souterrain, avec plusieurs gares. Le port d Anvers a besoin d un deuxième accès ferroviaire sur la rive droite de l Escaut. Ce nouvel accès, d une longueur de 8 km, comportera divers tunnels. L allongement éventuel de la piste de l aéroport d Anvers nécessite la mise en souterrain d une route importante. Le tunnel devrait avoir une longueur de 800 m. La possibilité existe que cet ouvrage soit incorporé dans la section correspondante du second périphérique autoroutier d Anvers, qui pourrait avoir une longueur de 8 km, essentiellement en tunnel (tranchée couverte). Une meilleure desserte (ferroviaire et routière) et l allongement de la piste de l aéroport de Charleroi ( Brussels- South ) nécessitent la mise en souterrain de certains ouvrages routiers et ferroviaires. Des entreprises belges ont également contribué récemment à la réalisation des tunnels routiers du Grouft (photo 5 ) et de Stafelter au Grand-dûché de Luxembourg (2 x 2 tubes, longueurs respectives m et m, perspective de mise en service : 2015) et du Coentunnel aux Pays-Bas. // Tunnel Liefkenshoek (Photo 4) AFTES CONGRÈS INTERNATIONAL LYON 2011 // 20 // AFTES INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS LYON 2011

22 railway and metro ; at this spot the tunnel passes underneath some buildings occupied by the services of the European Union. In the North, the tunnel links underground to another existing railway line ; this will happen by pipe-jacking of the roof. Perspectives : end of the civil engineering in 2014 ; opening foreseen for The railway tunnel Liefkenshoek (photo 4) is fully located in the port zone at the North of the city of Antwerp, and will allow a better service for the 2 sides of the river Scheldt under which it passes, as well as the docks and access channels to the port on both banks. It is located nearby the road tunnel Liefkenshoek, built with immersed caissons, and opened to traffic (toll) in The railway tunnel has a total length of 8 km, of which 5,5 km in 2 bored tubes. Perspectives : one tube bored, end of the civil engineering in 2013 ; opening foreseen for The tunnel Oosterweel in Antwerp is part of the North closing of the first (closest) motorway ring road, at this moment only closed by the Liefkenshoek tunnel, located too far in the North and badly linked to the Western motorway network. Tunnel Stafelter (Photo 5) This toll tunnel, with a length of at least 2 km to pass underneath the river Scheldt and the oldest part of the port, is subject to numerous politico-technical discussions, which did not yet lead to a widely accepted localization of its Eastern exit ; the tunnel could so become much longer. The idea of an underground link between the South-East and South-West parts of the Brussels motorway Ring ( Périphérique Sud ) was launched in order to avoid the detour along the Southern part of the Ring, much further away from the zones to be deserved than the rest of the Ring. Such a solution, half underground and half in an existing railway open cut (in operation) was thought about in the years 70 to close the Ring, but not accepted for local political opportunity reasons. The long tunnel, which would be able to fulfill this function, could have a length of 8 to 12 km, depending on the localization of the Eastern exit, and include one or two intermediate exits. The idea, launched by IRF Belgium, has at this moment gained no agreement, neither political nor financial. Studies started through an international group for the realization of the North part of the metro of Brussels, between the North station (now train-premetro-bus) and the Bordet station in Evere (now traintram-bus), over a length of 4 km, fully underground, with several stations. The port of Antwerp needs a second railway access on the right bank of the river Scheldt. This new access, 8 km long, will include various tunnels. The possible lengthening of the runway of the airport of Antwerp implies the putting in tunnel of an important road. The tunnel would have a length of 800 m. There is a possibility that this tunnel would be integrated in the corresponding section of the second motorway ring, which could have a length of 8 km, mostly in cut-and-cover tunnel. A better (railway and road) link to, and the lengthening of the runway of the airport of Charleroi ( Brussels- South ) imply to put underground some road and railway sections. Belgian contractors have also recently contributed to the realization of the road tunnels of Grouft (photo 5 ) and Stafelter in Luxemburg (2 x 2 tubes, respective lengths of m and m, opening foreseen for 2015) and of the Coentunnel in the Netherlands. // AFTES CONGRÈS INTERNATIONAL LYON 2011 // 21 // AFTES INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS LYON 2011

Grâce au soutien continu du GTS, l'expérience acquise par les spécialistes en tunnel pourra servir au mieux les grands défis futurs, et ce également au niveau international. Le GTS s'occupe de toutes les questions liées aux ouvrages souterrains: géologie, ingénierie civile, ingénierie mécanique, électrique et de sécurité, et ceci tant au niveau de la planification qu'au niveau de la réalisation. Selon ses statuts, le GTS poursuit les objectifs principaux suivants : - Promotion des connaissances en matière de travaux souterrains par l'encouragement de la recherche et par l'organisation de journées d'études et de visites d'ouvrages et de chantiers. - Diffusion et promotion des progrès réalisés dans le domaine des travaux souterrains. - Diffusion des informations techniques relatives à l'exécution des tunnels. - Collaboration à l'établissement des normes pour les travaux souterrains. - Echange d'informations avec l'étranger. Organisation Actuellement, le GTS compte 600 membres, dont 120 membres collectifs. Seine Mitglieder profitieren von der Unterstützung der gemeinsamen Interessen der Bauherren, Bauunternehmer, Ingenieure, der Lieferanten und der Wissenschaftler. Dank der kontinuierlichen Unterstützung durch die FGU können die gesammelten Erfahrungen nutzbar gemacht werden für die kommenden Herausforderungen in der Schweiz, aber auch auf internationalem Niveau. Die FGU widmet sich allen Fragen, die mit unterirdischen Bauwerken zusammenhängen: Geologie, bautechnische und elektromechanische Planung, Sicherheit, Ausführung, Zustanderfassung und Sanierung und dies sowohl in der Planung, als auch bei der Realisierung. Gemäss den Statuten verfolgt die FGU die folgenden Hauptaufgaben : - Förderung des Know-hows im Untertagbau durch Forschungsarbeiten und durch die Organisation von Studientagen und Besuchen auf Photo 2 : Logistique sur le tunnel de base du Gothard / Logistik beim Gotthard Basistunnel Baustellen. - Förderung der Entwicklung des Untertagbaus. - Mitarbeit in Normen für den Untertagbau - Informationsaustausch mit ausländischen Organisationen Organisation Derzeit hat die FGU 600 Mitglieder, davon 120 Kollektivmitglieder. FGU Executive Committee besteht aus 12 Mitgliedern: in der Regel 3 Vertreter von Bauunternehmungen, 3 Vertreter von Ingenieurbüros, sowie 3 Vertreter der Bauherren, sowie 3 Vertreter der Forschung & Lehre.
