1 In the center of Psalm 146 it is beautifully hidden who our God is: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in Yahweh, his God: Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them. He is our creator, the eternal one, who is the God of Israel. Verse 7 9 show the characteristics of the God of Jacob, characteristics that associate with His personality. It is easy for us to say that no justice is being done to those who are being oppressed, foreigners and those many people that are suffering hunger. But this is not His fault. In His character justice and restoration are recorded. All the injustice and suffering that we see around us, we as human beings owe to ourselves. Therefore it is right not to put our trust in other people, for they will perish together with all his thoughts, see verse 3 and 4. The only one that we can trust, the one that we may expect it from is our creator, the God of Israel. This is why we can praise our God, the eternal one, together with the one who wrote this Psalm, like he does in the verses 1, 2 and at the end of verse 10. 2 Blessed is he, whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the LORD his God, The Maker of heaven and earth, The sea, and everything in them- The LORD, who remains faithful forever. Psalm 146: 5, 6. 1) He upholds the cause of the oppressed (Psalm 146:7). We hear a lot about refugees in the Arab world, but never a word about the Jewish refugees who are expelled from Arab nations. Recently the UN wrote history by organizing for the first time a conference about 'Justice for Jewish refugees from Arab nations'. Minister Silvan Shalom said: "I was born in Tunisia, and my grandfather, from mother s side, who was a leader of the Jewish community in Gabes, had to leave a lot behind: his business, property and schools." We praise Him, who is a just God, exercising justice, because this is His character. He does this for every creature. 2) and gives food to the hungry (Psalm 146:7). We know that Jesus could multiply bread because He is the Creator. We pray for the many hungry people in nations as Syria and Egypt and ask for them that they will call to God for help and that they will experience that He multiplies the bread. He is a God of miracles. 3) The LORD sets prisoners free (Psalm 146:7). North-African Christians are bound by a history of domination and Western colonization. While they are free people in reality, they cannot function without dominant leadership in their Christian communities; otherwise anarchy reigns. A leader who does not behave in a dominant way will be set aside and the strongest among them will take his place. We pray that this bondage will be broken in that the Christians become aware of the cause of their behavior and will see that God's Word speaks of humble servants being the greatest leaders. 3 4) the LORD gives sight to the blind (Psalm 146:8). In one of the South-European ports a woman was offered a parcel containing a New Testament. She told: "I already know Jesus as my Saviour. I was admitted to a North-African hospital, and 'American' Christians must have prayed for me, for Jesus appeared to me in this hospital and healed me from cancer!" 5) the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down (Psalm 146:8). When a believer with a Muslim background is put in jail, it has an enormous impact upon persons close to him: for the family, but also so for believers close to him. We pray that they will get up and take courage in the position God has given them in Jesus and will continue to meet each other and pray together, notwithstanding the consequences. We pray for persons like Mohammed (see last prayer-calendar), put in jail for their belief. May God strengthen them. 6) the LORD loves the righteous (Psalm 146:8). Those who make websites and maintain them are of crucial importance for the work among Muslims and believers with a Muslim background. We thank God for the wonderful results from this field-work in the functioning of these websites. Among these righteous people are some who suffer from health-problems, also among their family members. We pray for the keyfigures in this work, that God will heal them, protect them and encourage them. 7) The LORD watches over the alien (Psalm 146:9). We pray for Syrians and Egyptians who fled from their country due to the problems to Western-Europe and the US. We pray that in their need they will fix their eyes on the God of Jacob because He is true to His Word and will do what He has said. We pray that they will nor trust in people, but will know that as God gives guidance in their live, they will bear much fruit. 8) and sustains the fatherless and the widow (Psalm 146:9). In Libya unwed mothers are put in jail, while their children are put in an orphanage. The men go free. We pray for these mothers and children to get a chance to hear about the God of Jacob. He is merciful. 9) (TU) We thank God for the believers in Tunisia and pray that they will not trust in men, but that through the Word they will come to know the God of Jacob and will expect everything they need from Him. We pray that they will study the Bible intensively and that the Word will give them life and that they share this life with others. 10) (TU) we pray for the region of Kebili with the city (oasis) Douz, for isolated believers feeling lonely and not able to share their faith with others and thus missing deeper spiritual growth. We pray for little groups to be able to meet in homes and that believers will not have so much fear that they try to remain 'secret', resulting in that no one knows there are others around them who also confess Jesus as Lord. 11) (TU) We stimulate the Jewish community in Djerba to move to Israel, in obedience to the word of the prophets. Their position under the present political reality becomes increasingly difficult. Pray that everything that withholds them to leave will be solved. 4 12) (LI) The situation in the country is unstable. Several tribes fight to obtain authority. There are however some improvements on the level of security. We pray that the leaders will not seek their own glory, but work for the wellbeing of the population and that those who know Jesus will put their trust in God and pray for their nation. 13) (LI) It is illegal to sell bibles. The reading of the Word however brings faith. We pray for those in the country who have bibles in stock, that they will know to whom to hand them out, so that they will be read. We also pray for the availability of internet for everyone who is hungry to hear the Word of God. 14) (LI) Our prayer is that the Libyans, who are living in chaos and unrest, will get increasingly disappointed in the dominant religion, start to question their faith and start to look for authenticity. We pray for those who have come to faith that they will have the courage to share it and that God will lead and protect them in their vulnerable position. 15) (MAU) We thank God for the local believers and pray that they fix their expectation on the God of Jacob for their daily needs and their testimony to their family and friends. We pray that God strengthens them in a loving attitude and that the Word they speak will bring forth life. 16) (MAU) We pray for those living in slavery, literally because of society or in spiritual bondage to pagan practices, that they will know the freedom of faith in Jesus. 17) (MAU) The Fula Macina tribe is Muslim and can be reached through the 'Jesus film' and radio-broadcasts. The New Testament is also available in their language. However, they are not aware of their need. We pray that God, through His Spirit, will work in their hearts and that they will experience that they have no solution for sin and start to long for the Saviour. 18) (MAU) We pray for a believer among the Imazighen people-group who is able to develop a Facebook page linked to the website for the Imazighen. This would give great possibilities to develop contacts and interest in the Good News. 19) (MO) We pray for courageous leaders among the believers, pioneers in starting home-groups and encouraging others to share their faith. Some men who have come to faith show resilience to share their faith with their wife and children. We pray that they will understand that the Bible always speaks of the principle of living together and community and that women and children have an important proper position in this. 20) (MO) We have prayed already several times that Algerian Imazighen will start to help their own people in Morocco to reach them with the Gospel. The national committee in Algeria (see next prayer item) has decided to make the Imazighen a target-group. 5 21) (AL) A national committee has been formed to stimulate evangelization and mission in Algeria and beyond. They will start by organizing mini-conferences to make churches aware of the concept of mission and that Algerians will take up the task of supporting the brothers and sisters who are willing to go out. One brother is responsible for coordinating this work within the churches and one brother is setting up short- and longtime training programs. We present them before the throne of God for His protection and help. 22) (AL) We read in Psalm 146, the theme for this prayer-calendar, in verse 3 and 4 that we should not trust in people with money or position, but instead on the God of Jacob, because He will always act according to His identity and character. We pray that Algerian Christians will realize this and will not put their hope in European churches and Christians to provide for their needs, but that they will cry out to the God of Israel, because He provides in every need. 23) (AL) We pray for the national elections this spring, that the right leader will be chosen, that there will be a continuous process of democratization and that the Council of Churches will have more room to proclaim God's Word through the churches and broadcast teaching-programs by TV and internet, that will be a proper follow-up for the uncountable number of young believers. 24) We thank God for the radio broadcasts and opportunities via internet to support Syrians in their own country, in their suffering, questions and spiritual need. We are grateful that in the refugee-camps also radio sets have been distributed. And we pray for more, so that amidst crisis and war Syrians will be able to hear the biblical message of hope. 25) We pray for our brothers and sisters in Egypt who remain there to help build the Kingdom of God amidst all upheaval and persecution. We pray that the increasing extremism will cause inhabitants to ask these Christians, why it is that they remain and that they will observe that these believers have an inner rest and a confidence which is something not to expect in the circumstances. 26) There are believers in Yemen who confess that the God of Israel is the God of the Bible because they read the Word without the ballast of theological tradition. We bless them in their testimony and their trust on God to protect them. We pray for the many Yemenites who have not yet heard the Gospel that they will receive this opportunity very soon. 27) In dominant religion there rules a spirit of control and dominance, while in the Kingdom of God service and love reigns through His Spirit. We pray for all who are bound by the spirit of control in Saudi-Arabia, who are nor free to make the choice for the God of the Bible in public and can risk their lives by doing so. 6 28) We bless the hidden groups of believers living in the Gaza-strip and the West bank, and also the pastors who visit them in secrecy and continue to teach them. We pray that their families will come to faith so they will not be so isolated and that God, through His Spirit will do a mighty work of revealing His Kingdom that will be confirmed by signs and wonders. Our proclamation is: Let the Palestinians be free from bondage, slavery and oppression, and come into the freedom of the Kingdom of God by faith in Jesus. 29) Last summer Messianic Jews and Palestinian Christians met together in the forest in Galilee (Israel). There they confessed together that in Jesus they are one, in knowing and serving God. They decided to have this meeting because they believe there will come a very difficult time for Israel in the Middle East, and that whatever may happen and the upheaval and divisions it will bring, they declare that they are one and will love one another and support one another. We bless God for this reconciliation and declaration and pray that God will be with them in the decisions they have taken. 30) We bless the inhabitants of Israel, those who actually help Syrian refugees in the camps with food and medical help. Syrians are also treated in Israeli hospitals for operations or childbirth. We pray for the mostly Muslim Syrians that they will come to know the God of Israel and will reconcile with Him and the people of God. 31) The LORD reigns forever, your God, o Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD (Psalm 146:10). 7 Prayer calendar for French speakers Bienheureux celui qui a le Dieu de Jacob pour son secours, Qui s attend à l Eternel, son Dieu, Qui a fait les cieux et la terre, la mer, et tout ce qui s y trouve; Qui garde la vérité à toujours. Psaume 146: 5, 6. 1). Qui exécute le jugement en faveur des opprimés (Psaume 146: 7) Nous entendons beaucoup sur des réfugiés dans le monde arabe, mais jamais un mot sur les de réfugiés juifs chassés des nations arabes. L autre jour les Nations Unies ont fait histoire lorsque, pour la première fois, il fut tenu une conférence sur La justice pour des réfugiés juifs de pays arabes. Le Ministre Silvan Shalom dit: Je fus né en Tunisie et mon grand-père du côté maternel, qui était un responsable de la communauté juive à Gabes, devait abandonner beaucoup de possessions: affaires, immeubles et écoles. Nous louons Celui qui est un Dieu juste, qui fait droit et justice parce que c est lié à son caractère. Et Il le fait pour toute créature. 2) Qui donne du pain à ceux qui ont faim (Psaume 146: 7). Nous savons de Jésus qu Il pouvait multiplier le pain parce qu Il est le Créateur. Nous prions pour les nombreux affamés dans les pays comme la Syrie et l Égypte et prions que, dans des temps de besoin, ils appellent Dieu au secours et qu ils fassent l expérience qu Il multiplie le pain. Il est un Dieu de miracles. 3) L Eternel met en liberté les prisonniers (Psaume 146: 7). Les chrétiens nord-africains sont liés par l histoire de domination et colonisation de l Occident. Même si, en réalité, ce sont des hommes libres, dans les communautés ils ne peuvent pas exister sans direction dominante, puisque sans cela, il y aurait de l anarchie. Le responsable qui ne se présente pas comme dominant est renversé et le plus fort prend sa place. Nous prions que ce liaison soit brisé par le fait que les chrétiens deviennent conscients de la cause de leur conduite et qu ils voient dans la Parole de Dieu que c est le fait de servir humblement qui donne les plus grands dirigeants; que Jésus soit leur exemple. 4) L Eternel ouvre les yeux des aveugles (Psaume 146: 8) Dans un des ports sudeuropéens, une femme reçut un petit paquet contenant un NT. Elle raconta: Je connais Jésus déjà comme mon Sauveur. 8 5) L Eternel relève ceux qui sont courbés (Psaume 146: 8). Lorsqu un croyant d arrière-fond musulman est emprisonné, cela a un grand impact sur ceux qui l entourent; pour la famille, mais aussi pour les croyants avec lesquels il était en contact. Nous prions qu ils se relèvent et prennent courage pour tenir ferme dans la position que Dieu leur a donnée en Jésus et qu ils continuent à se rencontrer et à prier ensemble, quelles qu en soient les conséquences. Nous prions pour des personnes comme Mahomet (le calendrier de prière précédent), qui se trouvent en prison pour leur foi, que Dieu les relève. 6) L Eternel aime les justes (Psaume 146: 8) Ceux qui projettent et maintiennent des sites sont d une importance cruciale pour l œuvre parmi les musulmans et les nouveau-nés avec un arrière-fond musulman. Nous remercions Dieu pour les résultats merveilleux qui sont obtenus, dans le travail sur le champ, par le fonctionnement des sites. Parmi ces personnes il y en a qui souffrent de problèmes de santé, les personnes elles-mêmes et leurs foyers. Nous prions pour ces personnages clé dans l œuvre, que Dieu rétablisse leur santé, les protège et leur donne du courage. 7) L Eternel garde les étrangers (Psaume 146: 9) Nous prions pour les Syriens et les Egyptiens qui, à cause de la problématique dans leur propre pays, ont fui en Europe occidentale et en Amérique. Nous prions qu au milieu de leur besoin, ils tournent les yeux vers le Dieu de Jacob, puisqu Il est fidèle à Sa Parole et fait tout ce qu Il a dit. Nous prions qu ils ne se confient pas à des hommes, mais qu ils sachent que, lorsque Dieu conduit leur vie, ils portent beaucoup de fruit. 8) Il affermit l orphelin et la veuve (Psaume 146: 9). En Libye, des mères non-mariées arrivent en prison, pendant que leurs enfants sont envoyés à un orphelinat. Les hommes sont impunis. Nous prions pour ces femmes et enfants, qu ils aient l occasion d entendre parler du Dieu de Jacob, qui est plein de grâce. 9) (TU) Nous remercions Dieu pour les croyants t. et prions qu ils ne mettent pas leur confiance aux hommes, mais que, par la Parole, ils apprennent à connaître personnellement le Dieu de Jacob et s attendent à tous leurs besoins en Lui. Nous prions qu ils prennent le temps pour une étude approfondie de la Bible et que la Parole éveille en eux la vie, et qu ils passent cette vie à d autres. 10) (TU) Nous prions pour la région de Kebili avec comme ville (oasis) Douz; pour des croyants isolés qui se sentent seuls et ne peuvent partager leur foi avec d autres et ainsi ne font pas l expérience d une croissance profonde. Nous prions pour de petits groupes qui puissent se rencontrer dans des maisons et que des croyants n aient pas tellement peur qu ils veuillent rester secrets, de sorte que personne ne sache que d autres dans les environs confessent Jésus comme Seigneur. 11) (TU) Nous stimulons la communauté juive à Djerba à déménager en Israël, en obéissance à la parole des prophètes. Sous le régime actuel, leur situation sociale devient de plus en plus difficile. Priez que tout ce qui les empêche de partir soit résolu. 9 12) (LI) La situation du pays est instable. Plusieurs tribus luttent pour le pouvoir. Heureusement il y a quelques améliorations sur le plan de la sécurité. Nous prions que les dirigeants ne cherchent pas leur propre gloire, mais le bien-être de la population et que ceux qui connaissent Jésus mettent leur confiance en Dieu et prient pour leur pays. 13) (LI) Il est illégal de vendre la Bible. Cependant, la lecture de la Parole apporte la foi. Nous prions que ceux qui possèdent des provisions de Bibles sachent à qui les donner, afin qu elles soient lues. Nous prions aussi que l internet soit accessible pour chacun qui a faim d entendre la Parole de Dieu. 14) (LI) Notre prière est que les L., par le chaos et l inquiétude dans lesquels ils vivent, soient de plus en plus déçus de la religion dominante et qu ils se mettent à poser des questions sur leur foi et se mettent à la recherche de véracité. Nous prions pour ceux qui sont parvenus à la foi, qu ils aient le courage de partager leur foi et que Dieu les dirige et protège dans leur position vulnérable. 15) (MAU) Nous remercions Dieu pour les croyants locaux et prions qu ils mettent leur confiance au Dieu de Jacob pour leurs besoins quotidiens et pour leur témoignage parmi leur famille et leurs amis; nous prions que Dieu leur donne la force pour une attitude aimable et que la Parole qu ils prononcent produise la vie. 16) (MAU) Nous prions pour ceux qui vivent en esclavage, soit par la société, soit par des liens spirituels à l idolâtrie, qu ils apprennent à connaître la liberté de la foi en Jésus. 17) (MAU) La tribu de Fula Macina est musulman et peut être atteinte par le film de Jésus et des émissions radiophoniques. Le NT aussi est disponible dans leur langue. Pourtant ils ne se rendent pas compte de leur propre besoin. Nous prions que Dieu par Son Esprit fasse Son œuvre dans leurs cœurs et qu ils fassent l expérience de ce qu ils n ont pas de solution pour le péché et qu ils commencent à désirer le Sauveur. 18) (MA) Nous prions pour un croyant parmi les Amazighes qui soit capable de développer une page Facebook liée à un site pour les Amazighes. Ici se trouve une grande occasion de développer des contacts et de susciter de l intérêt pour la Bonne Nouvelle. 19) (MA) Nous prions pour des dirigeants courageux parmi les croyants, qui soient des pionniers dans la création de groupes de maisons et en encouragent d autres à partager leur foi. Il y a aussi des hommes qui soient parvenus à la foi et montrent de la résistance à partager la bonne nouvelle avec leur femme et enfants. 10 20) (MA) Nous avons déjà prié plusieurs fois que des Amazighes algériens viennent aider à atteindre leur propre peuple au Maroc avec l Evangile. Le Comité National en Algérie (voyez la requête suivante) a décidé de prendre les Amazighes comme groupe cible. Nous prions qu ils puissent envoyer des Amazighes pour aider au Maroc et que des portes (et des frontières) s ouvrent de sorte que des voyages ne soient empêchés par des instances officielles, vu que ceci a prouvé être un problème embêtant. 21) (AL) Il a été formé un Comité National pour stimuler l évangélisation et la mission au dedans et en dehors de l Algérie. En premier lieu il s organise des miniconférences pour conscientiser les communautés du concept de mission et que les chrétiens algériens se réalisent qu ils aient eux-mêmes une tâche dans le soutien de frères et sœurs algériens qui veuillent se charger d une tâche dans la mission. Un frère est responsable de coordonner cette œuvre à l intérieur des communautés et un autre travaille aux programmes d entrainement à court et à long terme. Nous les portons devant le trône de Dieu pour Sa protection et Son aide. 22) (AL) Dans le Psaume 146, pris comme thème de ce calendrier de prière, il est écrit aux versets 3 et 4 que nous ne devons pas nous confier aux principaux, aux riches, mais au contraire au Dieu de Jacob, comme c est Lui qui agit selon Son identité et Son caractère. Nous prions que des chrétiens a. se réalisent cela et qu ils ne mettent pas leur espoir aux églises et aux chrétiens européens pour qu ils pourvoient à leurs besoins, mais qu ils s écrient au Dieu d Israël, puisque c est Lui qui délivre de toutes sortes de besoins. 23) (AL) Nous prions pour les élections dans la politique nationale ce printemps, que l homme juste vienne au gouvernail du pays, qu il y ait un procès continu de démocratisation et que le Conseil des Eglises acquière de plus en plus d espace pour proclamer la Parole de Dieu à travers les communautés et pour émettre, par la tv et l internet, des programmes d enseignement qui donnent à la quantité innombrable de jeunes croyants, un bon travail de suite. 24) Nous remercions Dieu pour les émissions à la radio et pour les possibilités par l internet de secourir les Syriens dans leur propre pays dans leurs souffrances, questions et besoins spirituels. Nous sommes reconnaissants qu il y ait eu aussi des distributions de radios dans les camps de réfugiés et nous prions pour plus de radios, afin que, au milieu des crises et de guerres, des Syriens aient l occasion d entendre le message d espoir de la Bible. 25) Nous prions pour nos frères et sœurs en Egypte qui y demeurent pour bâtir le royaume de Dieu au milieu de toute la confusion et persécution. 11 26) Au Yémen il y a des croyants qui confessent que le Dieu de la Bible est le Dieu d Israël. C est qu ils lisent la Bible sans le fatras de la tradition ecclésiastique. Nous les bénissons dans leur témoignage et leur confiance en Dieu qu Il les garde. Nous prions que le grand nombre de Yéménites qui n ont pas encore entendu l Evangile en aient bientôt l occasion. 27) A la domination de religion appartient un esprit de dominance et de contrôle, tandis que dans le Royaume de Dieu peut régner un esprit de servitude et d amour. Nous prions pour tous ceux qui sont liés sous l esprit de contrôle en Arabie saoudite et qui ne sont pas libres de faire publiquement le choix pour le Dieu de la Bible, mais risquent leur vie pour cela. Nous prions qu il se lève un Daniel, qui soit un témoin du Dieu de la vie, également face aux dirigeants politiques et qu il y ait une percée dans la domination de la religion. 28) Nous bénissons les groupes cachés de croyants palestiniens dans la Bande de Gaza et sur le Cisjordanie, et aussi les pasteurs qui leur rendent secrètement visite fidèlement et leur donnent de l enseignement. Nous prions que leurs familles parviennent à la foi, de sorte qu ils ne soient si isolés et que Dieu fasse par Son Esprit une œuvre puissante dans la révélation de Son Royaume et l affermisse par des signes et des miracles. Notre proclamation: Délivre les Palestiniens d esclavage et de soumission et fais les venir dans la liberté du Royaume de Dieu par la foi en Jésus. 29) L été passé, des Juifs messianiques et des chrétiens palestiniens ont tenu une réunion en Galilée (Israël) dans la forêt, où ils confessaient ensemble qu ils étaient un par Jésus, un dans la connaissance et le service de Dieu.
