2 CART/GRAC Contraception Access Research Team Welcome to the Core Planning Meeting to Found this National Family Planning Services Research Team! This planning meeting will bring together relevant health policy leaders, health system decision makers, stakeholder community group representatives, primary care health professionals and interdisciplinary researchers, to develop the best approach to build a Canadian community-based primary health care (CBPHC), family planning research program. Our deliberations will be informed by your expertise and experiences as well as by information we have collected through: conducting stakeholder consultations; a forum consultation with international clinicians and social scientist researchers; and a nationwide survey of organizations representing stakeholders and of direct service providers. A brief review of Canadian research to date, and presentation of the global perspective on family planning health services will round out our morning. The facilitated afternoon sessions will bring forward and prioritize your ideas about changes to health systems and services that could improve access to family planning, and the knowledge and research that is needed to support these. We look forward to seeing you at 8 am, Tuesday October 25th at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Terminal 3 of the Toronto International Airport. The goal of this meeting is to provide the foundation for a new national CBPHC family planning research team and to develop a research program that advances access to optimal family planning knowledge and services. In this way we hope to reduce unintended pregnancies and improve health, for women, children and families across Canada. Team Leads: Wendy V. 7 Groupe de recherche sur l accessibilité à la contraception CART/GRAC Bienvenue à la réunion de l équipe qui fournira les bases d un groupe national de recherches sur l accessibilité aux services de planification des naissances! Cette réunion réunira des responsables des politiques de santé, des gestionnaires du système de santé, des intervenants de groupes communautaires, des professionnels de santé de première ligne et des chercheurs en sciences sociales, afin de développer un programme pertinent de recherches sur les services de planification des naissances de première ligne au Canada. Les délibérations seront enrichies de votre expertise et votre expérience ainsi que des informations que nous avons recueillies récemment lors : 1) de consultations d organisations partenaires, 2) d un forum de cliniciens et de chercheurs internationaux en sciences sociales et 3) d une enquête nationale auprès d organisations partenaires et de fournisseurs de soins. Une brève revue de la recherche canadienne à ce jour et la présentation du point de vue global sur les services de planification des naissances complèteront notre matinée. La séance de l après-midi sera animée de telle sorte qu elle vous permette de présenter vos idées concernant les avenues possibles pour améliorer le système de santé et l accès aux services de planification des naissances. Vous serez également appelé à prioriser les avenues les plus prometteuses. Nous nous réjouissons de vous voir à 8 heures, le mardi 25 Octobre, à l Hôtel Sheraton Gateway Terminal 3 de l aéroport international de Toronto. L objectif de cette réunion est de fournir les bases d un nouveau groupe national de recherches sur l accès aux services de planification des naissances. Ce groupe développera ensuite un programme visant à améliorer l accès à l information et aux services de planification des naissances au Canada. De cette façon, nous espérons réduire les grossesses non planifiées et améliorer la santé des femmes, des enfants et des familles des populations marginalisées et vulnérables du Canada.
