2 ANNUAL REPORT A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANY MICHAUD Executive Director RICHARD BLAIN President This report shows more than the success of Moisson Montréal in the last year. It is proof that all our efforts are bearing fruit. This success is mainly attributed to the hard work and dedication of all those who believe in the strength and power of collaboration. As President of the Board of Directors, I have witnessed a great wind of change. My colleagues and I, with energy and conviction, have as our main mission to support Moisson Montréal, in all new projects and developments, such as the meat recovery pilotproject. Again this year, we achieved our goal of increasing the collection and distribution of foodstuffs to organizations. We mainly focused on the quality of distributed foodstuffs to people in need, not only on the quantity. Despite our great results, we can not hide the fact that hunger continues to affect too many people in Montreal; we only have to imagine the 140,000 people served again this year by our partner organizations to demonstrate that access to nutritious food is not a luxury and we have everything in place to try to erradiate this problem. As I often say, every gesture, as simple as it may seem, contributes to reinforcing our resolve to make hunger a thing of the past and ultimately to strengthen the circle of solidarity and mutual support. I would like to underline the strong commitment of citizens to the cause, and highlight the growing contribution of companies and institutions as well as the support and participation of our friends, benefactors, donors and partners on the ground. This year again, we chose to put forward our core values on the cover of our annual report. These values which support Moisson Montreal, such as respect, fairness, commitment, integrity and support, are at the heart of our success. Through the work we do, more than 140,000 people, including nearly 40,000 children receive emergency food aid every month through 200 community organizations on the Island of Montreal. To accomplish our mission, we depend on the human wealth of our partners, our generous donors, as well as our dedicated volunteers who, every day, support our employees in our work. In alone, nearly 8,000 volunteers gave us a hand, which translates into tens of thousands of hours to the cause! It is immense and, above all, essential. Because of this human wealth and spirit of collaboration, we can put forward major projects, such as our meat recovery and food transformation programs and improve our impact. Thus, we are proud to announce that for every $1 dollar Moisson Montréal receives, it can now distribute $ 18 worth of food. Thank you all for your collaboration! 3 HIGHLIGHTS 230 community organizations across the Island of Montreal benefited from our services on a regular basis (65 more organizations received ad hoc assistance); 135,347 people received food aid each month through partner organizations, 37,897 of whom are children up to 17*; More than 13.2 million kilos of foodstuffs and other basic products (a 2.8% increase in 1 year) worth $74,803,476 were distributed; We worked closely with 235 agrifood businesses to effectively collect their donations; 7,595 volunteers put in more than 82,577 hours to help us continue our mission (a 40% increase in the number of volunteers and a 12% increase in hours in 1 year). * According to our 2013 Hunger Counter OVERVIEW OCTOBER 15, 2013 Launch of the annual Christmas campaign Feed the Holiday Spirit to collect food and money donations for the upcoming holidays. NOVEMBER 2013 Moisson Montréal hosts an evening to acknowledge the work of our Ambassadors. OCTOBER 2013 Start of the meat recuperation pilot-project in grocery stores. JUNE 5, 2013 Moisson Montréal s 11th Golf Classic raised $294,172 in revenues. NOVEMBER 5, 2013 Publication of Moisson Montréal s Hunger Count 2013, a document profiling food aid across the Island of Montreal. DECEMBER 5, 2013 Moisson Montréal, Société Saint-Vincent-de-Paul and Sun Youth are presented with 1,713 bags of groceries thanks to the generosity of Montrealers as part of La grande guignolée des medias. JUNE 7-9, 2013 For the first time, Moisson Montréal was on site during the Formula 1 celebrations in Montreal. $8,120 were collected thanks to the generous spectators. JUNE 19, 2013 Moisson Montréal held its Annual General Meeting at its head office. JULY 25-26, 2013 For the 1st time, La Ronde celebrated Christmas in favor of Moisson Montréal! Visitors to the theme park were very generous as 5,965 KG of foodstuff were donated to Moisson Montreal. JULY 30, 2013 Thousands of children from day camps, the population of Montreal and several partners worked together to ensure the success of this first pan-montreal campaign De petits pas contre la faim. DECEMBER 21, 2013 Moisson Montréal holds it traditional Grand Tri de Noël where 200 volunteers sorted over 74,000 kg of foodstuffs. FEBRUARY 2014 Took place the first edition of Projet Cupidon in collaboration with l École Nationale del Humour. Ten comedians, including Jean-Michel Anctil proposed virtual greeting cards to benefit the fight against hunger. APRIL 2, 2014 The 3rd Great Food Drive for Children is launched along with Marie-Ève Lortie and Claudia Marques, the campaign s spokespeople. AUGUST 2013 A children s picnic marked the end of the 2013 Feeding our Future program, a partnership with Sodexo. Over 40,000 lunches were distributed to day camp attendees over the summer.

4 ANNUAL REPORT UNITED FOR THE CAUSE THERE ARE 50 EMPLOYEES AT MOISSON MONTRÉAL WORKING TIRELESSLY TO FIGHT HUNGER ON A DAILY BASIS. IN SOME 7,600 VOLUNTEERS WORKED ALONGSIDE OUR STAFF TO KEEP OUR OPERATIONS GOING. MOISSON MONTRÉAL IS AN ADVOCATE OF EMPLOYMENT EQUITY AND OFFERS A SECURE AND CONVIVIAL WORK ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS FLEXIBILITY, RECOGNITION, GROUP COHESIVENESS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ONE S FULL POTENTIAL. VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMS Every day, Moisson Montréal welcomes volunteers from businesses, organizations and various institutions. It is also involved in different social and/or professional integration programs for volunteers. For example, thanks to its collaboration with Service de réadaptation Crdited de Montréal-Secteur Nord an average of 7 adults with an intellectual disability or with a pervasive developmental disorder are given the opportunity to work with Moisson Montréal employees on a daily basis. The goal is to develop their independence, break their isolation and allow them to acquire various skills. This wonderful coaching program helps individuals reach their goals in social integration, skills development and workplace access. Following this experience, two people went back to school and four people found a job. In collaboration with the CREP, Moisson Montréal has implemented a training program for volunteers. This program allows to recognize officially the experience and learning from each volunteer. Moisson Montréal may well give them an official statement to help them in their job search. In the summer of 2013, seven young people joined the Moisson Montréal team under the Valorisation Jeunesse Place à la relève Program. For the fifth consecutive year, the partnership with the City of Montreal and the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities has allowed these young high school graduates have a first summer job to gain experience and to prepare for future jobs. 4 MOISSON MONTRÉAL

This event was the perfect opportunity to present the 2013 Ambassadors which are now part of the Ambassadors Club, a circle of people whose contribution is crucial for the growth of Moisson Montreal. Five categories and series of criteria have been established to meet the different forms of commitment shown by individual Moisson Montréal supporters. Plaques were awarded to exceptional donors, in terms of time, money and foodstuff. Mission accomplished thanks to the overwhelming response of many organizations! Métro donated $400,000 worth of foodstuffs, which is $100,000 more than in ; The Fondation Marcelle et Jean Coutu donated $60,000 towards the purchase of turkeys so our accredited organizations could prepare 32,530 delicious holiday meals; More than 225 businesses organized food drives as part of the Feed the Holiday Spirit campaign, up by 7% from All of the generous benefactors collected some 26,500 kilos of foodstuffs and more than $25,500 dedicated to purchasing foodstuff for the confection of 14,586 Christmas baskets. 6 MOISSON MONTRÉAL

FBQ has entrusted Moisson Montréal with the reception and redistribution, among all Moisson members, of the foodstuffs received by the network. In line with BAQ regulations, 3,870,567 kg of foodstuffs were redistributed throughout all Moisson organizations this year.

8 ANNUAL REPORT OUR NETWORK OF PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS OVER 200 DULY ACCREDITED C O M M U N I T Y ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE ISLAND OF MONTREAL GET THEIR SUPPLIES FROM MOISSON MONTRÉAL ON A REGULAR BASIS, WHILE 65 GET OCCASIONAL ASSISTANCE. THESE GROUPS, THAT PROVIDE VARIOUS SERVICES TO THE CITIZENS, OFFER MANY FORMS OF FOOD AID AND EDUCATION AND BENEFIT FROM DAILY SUPPORT FROM OUR ATTENTIVE COMMUNITY RELATIONS TEAM. BETTER HELP THROUGH MORE KNOWLEDGE In order to better meet the needs of the organizations we serve, we perform quarterly satisfaction surveys with them. In February 2014, 94 organizations responded to the survey. 77% Were satisfied or very satisfied with the freshness of fruits and vegetables received; 91% Were satisfied or very satisfied with the freshness of other products received; 86% Were satisfied or very satisfied with the amount of food being allocated to them; 96% Were satisfied or very satisfied with the level of communication with Moisson Montreal. Moisson Montréal s accredited organizations propose the following types of food aid: Emergency supply of groceries Meal services Snack services Meals on Wheels Soup kitchens, workshops Low cost groceries and others. We are very satisfied with the service we receive. Really, the service and hospitality are impeccable. Hats off to the whole team!. Maison des jeunes de Bordeaux-Cartierville IN TUNE WITH THE NETWORK S NEEDS In , the community relation s team has a particular focus on the needs of its partner organizations and the continuous improvement of its services. All organizations were visited at least once in the year; Many organizations benefited from support and coaching in the improvement of their facilities; A new Hygiene and safety training was launched and offered to organizations; Consulting sessions and focus groups were held to help us improve our distribution, support and coaching services; Moisson Montréal is part of the Comité des organismes sociaux de Saint- Laurent and also participates in various conferences and local roundtables on food security. 8 MOISSON MONTRÉAL

Every year, Moisson Montréal publishes its Hunger Count, a document profiling the food aid provided by the organizations it serves. In March of 2013, some 201 organizations completed a survey. The Hunger Count reveals that: Moisson Montréal, through its partner organizations, provides food aid to 135,347 people each and every month; Children (0-17) represent 37,897 of the individuals seeking food aid, and the number of children keeps on growing; The proportion of households with children receiving food assistance (food baskets program) rose from 56.1% to 56.8% between 2012 and 2013; Households in which the main source of income is a job represents over 11% of respondents seeking food assistance from food banks.

CAMPAIGNS AND EVENTS The 11th Annual Golf Classic On June 5, 2013, over 300 people from the business, culture and sport sectors who responded generously to the invitation to «Play. Give. Help «as part of Moisson Montréal s 11th Golf Classic. The fundraising event, held at Golf Saint-Raphaël under the honorary presidency of Pierre Dandoy, Senior Vice President, Operations, Provigo and Loblaws Quebec generated revenues of $294,172. With the profit made, Moisson Montréal was able to provide essential food assistance to about 1,200 Montrealers for the next year. 11 The 3rd edition of the Great Food Drive for children took place from April 2 to 21, We were very fortunate to have our outstanding spokespeople, Ève-Marie Lortie and Claudia Marques, who carried the message of the Great Food Drive for Children with warmth and dedication. A total of $ 291, was raised for the 3rd edition. To end this campaign, hundreds of volunteers, elected officials and special guests attended Children s Day, a family activity during which the results of The Great Food Drive for children were announced. The event hosted by Josée Boudreault took place in the Moisson Montréal s warehouse in a festive atmosphere, with a playground for children, face painting and an educational rally. Overall, 1,000 emergency bags for toddlers were prepared. These bags were sent to community organizations in the greater Montreal area offering support programs for families with children 0-5 years as well as momsto-be! Great Food Drive for Children: United for our little ones Initiated in 2012 by Moisson Montreal, the Great Food Drive for Children is an annual campaign that now involves Moisson Rive-Sud and Le Centre de bénévolat et Moisson Laval, as well as a new collaborator, Uniprix. The primary objective of The Great Food Drive is to collect donations and food for babies and toddlers, to allow nutritious meals to nearly 20,000 toddlers aged 0-5 living in poverty in the Montreal area. Mailings With the themes «Lend a hand» and «The many faces of hunger,» Moisson Montreal s summer and winter mailing campaigns have helped raise $367,011. THEY DARED TO CARE In 2013, several individuals, organizations and businesses worked very hard and displayed amazing creativity when organizing fundraising events to benefit Moisson Montréal. Thank you a thousand times over! 12 ANNUAL REPORT INSPIRING PROJECTS THE GOOD FOOD BOX PROGRAM Created in 2002 in Toronto and quickly exported to other areas and localities, The Good Food Box program is regionally managed by Moisson Montréal. The program enjoys growing success all over the city and surrounding areas. The concept is simple: every week, through partnering distributors, we offer baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables insisting on local produce at a very low price. Three different sizes of boxes are available, so households are given the opportunity to get the quantity they need according to their financial means. Ultimately, the program aims at fighting food deserts, promoting local producers, fostering independence and encouraging a diverse, healthy diet. The Good Food Box program is open to everyone. The more we buy as a group, the more each one of us can save. FEEDING OUR FUTURE During the 2013 summer, over 40,000 lunches were served to approximately 1,050 children attending a dozen day camps located in Montreal s more at-risk neighbourhoods, thanks to the Feeding our Future program initiated by Sodexo and jointly operated with Moisson Montréal. To end the season on a high no te, a big party for all the kids was held August 6, We wish to thank Sodexo and the Feeding our Future spokesperson, Mrs Isabelle Huot, for their long-term and highimpact engagement. Feeding our future Program THE RAOC NETWORK WITH COMMERCE SOLIDAIRE Moisson Montréal 2012 NEW MEAT RECOVERY PILOT-PROJECT In the fall of 2013, Moisson Montréal began a new project to recover meat in different supermarkets of the Montreal area. This project allows us to diversify the products distributed to our partner organizations and to reduce the waste of meat in supermarkets. This pilot project has benefited more than 12 organizations providing meal services to their customers. These organizations work with various clients, such as homeless people, the elderly, women in difficulty, drug addicts, poor people, teenagers, etc. An average of 9,500 meals is offered each week. The RAOC network allows member organizations to get a variety of foods at a lower cost. Moisson Montréal and Commerce Solidaire have joined forces to offer new unbeatable savings to members of the RAOC. All members of the RAOC are invited to join the RAOC network of Commerce Solidaire. The RAOC network provides an online store of more than 5,000 food and non-food items and a weekly promotional flyer. In addition, an analysis service of your paid invoices (at a non-approved supplier) is offered to find better prices for the same products from approved Commerce Solidaire suppliers. 12 MOISSON MONTRÉAL

20 RAPPORT ANNUEL MOT DU PRÉSIDENT ET DU DIRECTEUR GÉNÉRAL RICHARD BLAIN Président Ce rapport témoigne bien plus que le succès de Moisson Montréal dans la dernière année. Il est la preuve que tous les efforts déployés portent fruits. Ce succès est principalement attribué au travail et au dévouement acharné de tous ceux qui croient en la force et le pouvoir de l entraide. En tant que président du conseil d administration, j ai été témoin d un grand vent de changement. Mes collègues et moi continuons d avoir comme principale mission d appuyer Moisson Montréal, avec énergie et conviction, dans tous ses nouveaux projets et développements, notamment le projet pilote de la récupération de la viande en épicerie. Encore cette année, nous avons atteint notre objectif d augmenter la collecte et la distribution de denrées aux organismes. Nous avons principalement miser sur la qualité des aliments distribués auprès des gens dans le besoin et non seulement sur la quantité. Malgré nos beaux résultats, on ne peut se cacher que la faim continue de toucher beaucoup trop de personnes à Montréal; nous n avons qu à imaginer les personnes desservies encore cette année par notre organisation pour nous convaincre que l accès à une saine alimentation n est pas un luxe et nous devons tout mettre en place pour tenter d erradier ce problème. Comme je le dis souvent, chaque geste, aussi simple soit-il, contribue à renforcir le mouvement de lutte contre la faim et, ultimement, à consolider le cercle de solidarité et d entraide que nous nous employons à élargir depuis J aimerais donc, une fois de plus, saluer le grand engagement des citoyens envers la cause, et souligner la contribution croissante des entreprises et institutions ainsi que le soutien et la participation de la population, de nos amis, bienfaiteurs, donateurs et partenaires sur le terrain. DANY MICHAUD Directeur général Cette année encore, nous avons choisi de mettre de l avant nos valeurs principales en couverture de notre rapport annuel Ces valeurs qui portent Moisson Montréal, soit le respect, l équité, l engagement, l intégrité et l entraide sont au cœur de notre succès. Grâce au travail que nous accomplissons, plus de personnes, dont près de enfants reçoivent de l aide alimentaire d urgence à tous les mois par l entremise de 200 organismes communautaires sur l île de Montréal. Afin d accomplir notre mission, nous dépendons de la richesse humaine de nos partenaires et de nos généreux donateurs, de nos bénévoles dévoués qui, à tous les jours, soutiennent nos employés dans notre travail. En seulement, près de bénévoles ont franchi nos portes et ont donné des dizaines de milliers d heures à la cause! C est énorme et, par-dessus tout, essentiel. Grâce à cette richesse humaine et à cet esprit de collaboration, nous pouvons mettre à termes des projets d envergure, tels que la récupération de la viande en épicerie et la transformation alimentaire et ainsi poursuivre notre portée. Ainsi, nous sommes fiers d annoncer que nous pouvons maintenant distribuer 18$ de denrées pour chaque dollar reçu à Moisson Montréal. Merci à tous pour votre collaboration!
