In this text he introduces his family, his favourite sport and his other hobbies. N Texte 1 Hello, I'm Ryan. I live in Bearsden, a few kilometres to the north-west of Glasgow, in Scotland 1. Glasgow is a big city, but Bearsden is outside the city, near the hills 2, so it is very green and the perfect place to do all sorts of sports. 2 3 I have two sisters, one older and one younger. We are a very musical family we each 3 play an instrument, except for mum. Dad plays the accordion and he teaches 4 me how to play it too. He also taught 4 me how to play my favourite sport: shinty. Shinty is a traditional Scottish sport. The legend says that the game was brought 5 to Scotland from Ireland by Saint Columba in the year 563 AD 6. It is especially popular in the north and west of Scotland. In a game of shinty, the players hit 7 a ball with a stick 8 called a caman. It can be a violent game and you have to play very quickly. I am a member of Bearsden Shinty Club. I go to training lessons twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays after school. In summer we play on grass, and in winter we also play outside, under floodlights 9. My sisters play shinty too, but we don't play together. 4 When we play shinty, we always wear protective equipment. We wear a helmet* and a faceguard* during matches and at training lessons! Shinty is a team sport played between two teams of twelve players. You score when you hit 7 the small ball through the goals. A shinty field 10 is almost 11 the size of three football fields 10! So you run a lot and you have to be quick if you want to score. In my family, we all 12 have the same hobbies it is very practical! We love football and we often watch matches together on TV. And in the evening, we try to play our instruments together around the piano. But it isn't always easy to find 13 the time because we are very busy 14 with shinty lessons. Traditional music is still very popular in Scotland, and people dance to it at Scottish dances called ceilidhs. Accordion music is perfect for dancing but the accordion is not an easy instrument to learn, and it is very heavy 15. My sister plays another traditional instrument: the violin. In Scotland, we call it the fiddle. I like it. 8 I go to school in Bearsden, where I live. The uniform at my school is a blue sweatshirt and a white polo shirt. I like going to school to work and to see my friends. But Maths is not my favourite subject! 9 I go on the computer after school. At home, we just have one computer for my sisters and me. It is in the living room. But there is also a TV in my bedroom. 10 In Scotland, in winter, it is dark in the afternoon and we eat at around 6 pm. So after dinner we have lots of time to watch TV!
