Bois, verre, argile et acier jouent la grande illusion et prennent la forme de pièces maîtresses d une exposition dédiée à la dualité bien réellequi existe entre art et artisanat, entre préciosité et banalité. Intimement liée au savoir-faire de maîtres artisans suisses, cette nouvelle série d objets imaginée par Nicolas Le Moigne propose d étonnantes alliances et constitue en soi une invitation à s interroger sur les matières qui nous entourent et la valeur que nous décidons de leur accorder. Materia marque le retour aux sources, ou presque, de Nicolas Le Moigne. Bellifontain établi à Lausanne depuis de nombreuses années, il obtient un Master en Design Industriel à l Ecole Cantonale d Art de Lausanne/ ECAL en se penchant sur le potentiel d une matière d exception, l éternit. En 2008, cette dernière appelle le designer à la croisée des chemins entre artisanat et industrie, où il conduit un travail de recherche en collaboration avec l entreprise Eternit récoltant à la fois les faveurs de la presse, des institutions et des collectionneurs. Auteur du bec verseur Verso Diverso qui lui permet de connaître un premier succès majeur durant ses classes, Nicolas Le Moigne s intéresse tout d abord aux différents enjeux d éditeurs internationaux, parmi lesquels ceux des entreprises Serralunga et Omega Dès 2008, il se rapproche de galeristes européens dont The Lighthouse (Glasgow), la Galerie Libby Sellers (Londres) et plus récemment, la Galerie Ormond (Genève).De 1979 à aujourd hui, le parcours de Nicolas Le Moigne se dessine sous la forme d une série illimitée de rencontres, de collaborations et de synchronicités partagées avec des acteurs majeurs du design suisse et international.

Wood, glass, clay and steel disguise themselves and become the centrepiece of an exhibition devoted to the actual duality that exists between art and the craft industry, between highly refined objects and the commonplace. Intimately tied to the savoir faire of Swiss master craftsmen, this new series of objects devised by Nicolas Le Moigne offers astonishing combinations and is in itself an invitation to ponder the materials that surround us and the value that we choose to attach to them. Materia commemorates Nicolas Le Moigne s return to his roots. Originally a resident of Fontainebleau, and settled in Lausanne for a number of years now, he acquired a Master s at ECAL (Ecole cantonale d art de Lausanne) after studying the potential of an exceptional compound of concrete and fibre, eternit. In 2008, this same extraordinary substance brought the designer to the crossroads between craftwork and industry, when he carried out a research project in collaboration with the company Eternit, earning the favourable attention of the press, as well as that of institutions and international art collectors. Creator of the screw-on spout entitled Verso Diverso, which brought him his first major success while still a student, Nicolas Le Moigne is primarily interested in the various ventures of international industries, including those of the companies Serralunga and Omega. Since 2008, he has associated himself with several European galleries, notably The Lighthouse (Glasgow), Libby Sellers Gallery in London, and more recently, Ormond Contemporary Editions in Geneva. From his birth in 1979 until today, Nicolas Le Moigne s path has taken shape through an unlimited series of meetings, collaborations and shared synchronicities with the major players of Swiss and international design.
