1 Condensate Retrofit Kit Installation Instructions Purpose: The condensate retrofit kit is designed to improve the condensate management system for current units in the field. Review directions thoroughly prior to installing the kit. Please contact the manufacturer of the water heater as shown in the instruction manual with any questions or for additional product support. Parts List: The kit consists of the following items. If a part is missing, use the contact information in the instruction manual to acquire missing part(s). Reducing Tee (QTY. 1) Barbs & spigot fitting (QTY. 1) Loop clamp with rubber cushion (QTY. 2) Metal clamp (QTY. 1) Screws (QTY. 4) Instruction sheet (QTY. 1) Installation: Follow the procedure below to mount the retrofit kit into the current vent pipe system. 1. Shut down the water heater. 2. Follow vent pipe manufacturer s instruction to glue the barbs & spigot fitting into the reducing Tee. The fitting should be properly oriented for nice appearance. See Figure 1A. 3. Remove the top plastic shroud to have access to the hose coming from bottom of blower housing. 4. Use the following steps to mark and cut off a segment of Vent Pipe Assembly #2. Refer to Figure 1B. With Vent Pipe Assemblies as were installed, place the Reducing Tee Assembly made in Step 2 side by side against Vent Pipe Assembly #2 so that the middle of the Tee flushes with the top of the jacket top cover. Mark a horizontal reference line on Vent Pipe Assembly #2 at the place which flushes with the top of Reducing Tee Assembly. Mark a second horizontal reference line about 1-1/4 (3. 2 cm) below the first reference line on Vent Pipe Assembly #2. Mark a third horizontal reference line about 1-5/8 (4.1 cm) below the second reference line on Vent Pipe Assembly #2. Detach Vent Pipe Assemblies from the water heater; and cut off the segment of 1-5/8 (4.1 cm) of Vent Pipe Assembly #2 between the second and third reference lines. 1st Reference Line Reducing Tee 2nd Reference Line 1-1/4" (3.2 cm) Below 1st Reference Line Barbs and Spigot Fitting Middle of Tee Flush with Top Cover of Heater Top Cover of Water Heater 3rd Reference Line 1-5/8" (4.1 cm) Below 2nd Reference Line Cut Off This Segment of Vent Pipe Assembly #2 FIGURE 1A. 2 5. Follow vent pipe manufacturer s instruction to glue the Reducing Tee Assembly in between the two remainders of Vent Pipe Assembly #2. Make sure the Reducing Tee Assembly is correctly orientated relative to the Tee near the bottom of Vent Pipe Assembly #2, as shown in Figure 2. Depending on existing installation, the Reducing Tee Assembly could be orientated at a different angle as long as it makes a good fit and would facilitate its connection to condensate hoses and future service. Mount one loop clamp on the top cover near the blower and the other one on the top cover near the back of the heater using screws supplied. Remove the rubber hose attached to the drain port near the bottom of blower housing and cut it to 38 (96.5 cm). Replace one end of the 38 (96.5 cm) rubber hose to the drain port, and run the other end through the two loop clamps. Make sure no kink or twist exists along the whole length of the rubber hose. Refer to Figure Locate the metal clamp and mount it on top cover near the back of heater using two screws supplied. Refer to Figure Lower the hose clamp near the bottom of the jacket by 1-3/4 inches (4.4 cm) from its current position to clamp the drain hose from Vent Pipe Assembly #1; i.e. use the current lower hole as the top hole and drill another hole for mounting the hose clamp. Refer to Figure 4. Lower the Hose Clamp by 1-3/4" (4.4 cm) FIGURE Replace Vent Pipe Assemblies #1, #2 and #3 on the water heater. Run the existing drain hose on Vent Pipe Assembly #1 to an external drain. If needed, run it through the hose clamp newly lowered. 10. Connect the loose end of the rubber hose from blower housing to one of the four barbs on the Reducing Tee Assembly.

3 11. Locate the existing flexible hoses. Make three hoses out of them if a Vent Attenuation Assembly is currently installed. Two hoses should be 30 (76 cm) long, and another hose should be 50 (127 cm) (for Vent Attenuation Assembly). Connect one end of the two 30 (76 cm) hoses to each of the two ports on the rubber adaptor located at the outlet of the blower. Connect one of the 50 (127 cm) hose to the drain port of the Vent Attenuation Assembly. Refer to Figure 5. FIGURE Run all three hoses through the metal clamp newly mounted on the top cover. Refer to Figure 6. FIGURE Connect the loose end of the three hoses to the rest open barbs on the Reducing Tee Assembly. If any barb is left open (for instance because of the Vent Attenuation Assembly not being installed) cap it with a break-away plug found on the barbs and spigot fitting. Refer to Figure 7. Note: To avoid loss during shipping, the break-away plugs may have been plugged into barbs prior to shipment. In this case, remove them as needed prior to connecting hoses.. Break-Away Plugs 14. Replace the top plastic shroud. FIGURE Turn on the water heater and let it run for at least one heat cycle. Ensure there is no leakage around hose barbs or any joints of the vent pipe system.

6 11. Localiser les tuyaux flexibles existants. Faire trois tuyaux avec ceux-ci si l ensemble d atténuation de l évent est déjà installé. Deux tuyaux devraient être de 30 po (76 cm) de long et l autre tuyau devrait être de 50 po (127 cm) (pour l ensemble d atténuation de l évent. Raccorder une extrémité des deux tuyaux de 30 po (76 cm) à chacun des deux orifices sur l adaptateur en caoutchouc qui se trouvent à la sortie de la soufflante. Raccorder un des tuyaux 50 po (127 cm) à l orifice de vidange de l ensemble d atténuation de l évent. Vous reporter à la Figure 5. FIGURE Faire passer les trois tuyaux dans le collier métallique nouvellement monté sur le couvercle supérieur. Vous reporter à la Figure 6. FIGURE Raccorder l extrémité libre des trois tuyaux au reste des barbelures ouvertes sur le T réducteur. Si une des barbelures reste ouverte (par exemple parce que l atténuation de l évent n est pas installée), il faut la boucher avec le bouchon de sécurité qui se trouve sur les barbelures et le raccordement à tenon. Vous reporter à la Figure 7. Note : pour éviter une perte pendant le transport, les bouchons de rupture peuvent avoir été bouchés dans les barbelures avant l expédition. Dans ce cas, les retirer avant de raccorder les tuyaux, selon le besoin. Bouchons de rupture 14. Reposer le carrénage en plastique. FIGURE Mettre le chauffe-eau en marche et le laisser fonctionner pendant au moins un cycle de chauffage. Vérifier qu il n y a pas de fuite autour des barbelures de tuyau ni aux joints du réseau de tuyaux de ventilation.

7 5. Suivre les directives du fabricant de tuyau de ventilation pour coller le T réducteur entre les deux restants du tuyau de ventilation n 2. S assurer que le T réducteur est bien orienté par rapport au T près du bas du tuyau de ventilation n 2, comme illustré à la Figure 2. En fonction de l installation existante, le T réducteur pourrait être orienté à un angle différent tant qu il est bien adapté et que cela facilite son raccordement aux tuyaux de condensat et à l entretien futur. Monter un collier en boucle sur le couvercle du dessus près du ventilateur et l autre sur le couvercle du dessus près de l arrière du chauffe-eau au moyen des vis fournies. Retirer le tuyau en caoutchouc fixé à l orifice de vidange près du bas du boîtier de la soufflante et la couper à 38 po (96,5 cm). Reposer une extrémité du tuyau en caoutchouc de 38 po (96,5 cm) à l orifice de vidange et passer l autre extrémité à travers les deux colliers en boucles. S assurer qu il n y a pas de déformation ni de torsion le long du tuyau en caoutchouc. Vous reporter à la Figure Localiser la pince métallique et la monter sur le couvercle du dessus près de l arrière du chauffe-eau au moyen des vis fournies. Vous reporter à la Figure Baisser de 1-3/4 pouces (4,4 cm) le collier de tuyau près du bas de l enveloppe de son emplacement actuel pour brider le tuyau de vidange du tuyau de ventilation n 1 ; c est-à-dire, utiliser le trou le plus bas comme trou supérieur et percer un autre trou pour monter le collier de tuyau. Vous reporter à la Figure 4. Baisser le collier de tuyau à 1-3/4 po (4,4 cm) FIGURE Reposer les tuyaux de ventilation n 1, n 2 et n 3 sur le chauffe-eau. Faire passer le tuyau de vidange existant dans le tuyau de ventilation n 1 vers un drain externe. Au besoin, le faire passer dans le collier de tuyau que l on vient d abaisser. 10. Raccorder l extrémité libre du tuyau en caoutchouc du boîtier de ventilation à l une des quatre barbelures sur le T réducteur.

8 Directives d installation pour la trousse de mise à niveau du condensat But : La trousse de mise à niveau pour condensat a été conçue pour améliorer le système de gestion de condensat des unités couramment installées. Relire attentivement les directives avant d installer la trousse. Prière de contacter le fabricant du chauffe-eau comme indiqué dans le manuel d instruction pour toute question que vous pourriez avoir ou pour obtenir du soutien supplémentaire relativement au produit. Liste des pièces : La trousse contient les articles suivants. Si une pièce est manquante, utiliser les coordonnées indiquées dans le manuel d instruction pour obtenir le ou les pièces manquantes. T réducteur (QTÉ 1) Barbelures et raccord de tenon (QTÉ 1) Collier en boucle avec coussin en caoutchouc (QTÉ 2) Collier métallique (QTÉ 1) Vis (QTÉ 4) Feuillet de directives (QTÉ 1) Installation : Suivre la procédure ci-dessous pour monter la trousse de mise à niveau dans l actuel réseau de tuyaux de ventilation. 1. Fermer le chauffe-eau. 2. Suivre les directives du fabricant du tuyau de ventilation pour coller les barbelures et le raccord de tenon sur le T réducteur. Il faut bien orienter le raccord pour offrir un bel aspect. Voir la Figure 1A. 3. Retirer le carénage en plastique pour accéder au tuyau sortant au bas du boîtier de la soufflante. 4. Effectuer les étapes suivantes pour marquer et découper un segment de l assemblage du tuyau de ventilation n 2. Vous reporter à la Figure 1B. Lorsque les tuyaux de ventilation sont installés, mettre le T réducteur, fait à l étape 2, côte à côte contre le tuyau de ventilation n 2, de sorte que le milieu du T soit au même niveau que le haut de l enveloppe. Faire une ligne de référence horizontale sur le tuyau de ventilation n 2 à l endroit où arrive le haut du T réducteur. Marquer une deuxième ligne de référence horizontale environ 1-1/4 po (3,2 cm) sous la première ligne de référence sur le tuyau de ventilation n 2. Marquer une troisième ligne de référence horizontale environ 1-5/8 po (4,1 cm) sous la deuxième ligne de référence sur le tuyau de ventilation n 2. Défaire les tuyaux de ventilation du chauffe-eau; couper 1-5/8 po (4,1 cm) du segment du tuyau de ventilation n 2 entre la deuxième et la troisième ligne de référence. 1 e ligne de référence T réducteur 2 e ligne de référence 1-1/4 po (3,2 cm) sous la 1 e ligne de référence Barbelures et raccordement à tenon Milieu du T au même niveau que le dessus du chauffe-eau Dessus du chauffe-eau 3 e ligne de référence 1-5/8 po (4,1 cm) sous la 2 e ligne de référence Couper ce segment du tuyau de ventilation FIGURE 1A.
