PIP 01 Internship Junior Engineer Pipelines installation methods - Subsea structures installation Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope Subsea structures such as PLETs (Pipeline end termination assembly) and ILTs (In-line tees) allow the connection from a pipeline to a wellhead, a manifold or another pipeline. In deep water depths, these structures are directly connected or welded to the pipeline and as such installed at the same time. The pipeline and its subsea structures can vary in terms of dimensions, weight or functionalities, depending on the water depth. Depending on these parameters, different methods of installation can be used (S-lay or J-lay) meaning different vessels and equipment. These operations share some common issues: safety, potential clashes with the vessel, stability of the structure The objective of the internship is to establish a guidance document for the engineers preparing the operations of installation, allowing them to identify the associated risks and their possible mitigations. The document shall also allow the comparison between different methodologies for the installation, with advantages and drawbacks. Among other parameters, the buoyancy and their connection system will be reviewed. Integrated in the Rigid pipelines department, the intern will have for missions: Review company existing literature on the subject (engineering standard, smart lessons, projects specific procedures, operations report, ), Develop the guidance document, looking for potential improvements to the standard practice, Prepare regular meetings to present the proposed guidance to the installation engineers. PIP 01 Stage Ingénieur Junior Méthodes d installation de pipelines - Installation de structures sous-marines Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Les structures sous-marines telles que les PLETs (Pipeline end termination assembly) et les ILTs (In-line tees) permettent de connecter un pipeline à une tête de puits, un manifold ou un autre pipeline. En grande profondeur, ces structures sont directement connectées ou soudées au pipeline et sont ainsi installées en même temps. Ces installations ont des problématiques communes : la sécurité, les chocs potentiels avec le bateau, la stabilité de la structure,... L objectif du stage est d établir un document de référence pour les ingénieurs préparant les opérations d installation, leur permettant d identifier les risques associés et leurs mitigations possibles. Le document devra également permettre une comparaison entre différentes méthodes d installation, avec leurs avantages et leurs inconvénients. Entre autres paramètres, la quantité de bouées requise et leur système de connexion sera revue. Intégré au sein du département des Pipelines rigides, le stagiaire aura pour missions de : Revoir la littérature existante sur le sujet (standard d ingénierie, leçons du passé, procédures spécifiques de projets, rapports d opérations, ), Développer le document référence, en cherchant des améliorations par rapport aux pratiques standards, Préparer des réunions régulières afin de présenter l avancement du document aux ingénieurs d installation. PIP 02 Internship Junior Engineer Pipelines design : Steep S Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope The S-lay is the conventional pipelines installation process in shallow to medium/deep water depths. The pipes pieces are welded horizontally on the laybarge and then the pipeline is bent over the laybarge deck to reach the catenary down to the seabed. However, in very deep water, pipelines are reaching plastic deformations when being bent on the laybarge, what is not covered within design codes. The objective of this internship is to conclude the previous studies performed on the Steep S methodology, in order to be able to propose it on tenders and projects. Integrated in the Rigid pipelines department, the intern will have for missions: Review existing documentation and tools already developped on the subject, Perform a set of analyses as detailed below: - Determination of the correct pipeline end conditions on the seabed in the model, - Evaluate the impact of the Steep S on the initiation and laydown phases of the pipeline, - Perform dynamic analyses, fatigue analyses and engineering critical assessment (allowable flaw size in the pipeline weld determination), - Perform modal analyses of pipeline free span on the seabed including residual effects of the Steep S process and compare results without these effects. Develop deliverables to be sent to certifying authority (DNV) for Steep S validation, Develop internal engineering standard presenting the Steep S laying analyses methodology to be conducted on tenders and projects, including potential impact on pipeline design. PIP 02 Stage Ingénieur Junior Pose de pipelines : Steep S Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Le S-lay est la méthode conventionnelle d installation des pipelines en eaux peu ou moyennement profondes. Les pipes sont soudés horizontalement sur la barge de pose, puis le pipeline est courbé en sortie de barge sur un stinger pour contrôler les efforts et donner la bonne forme de la caténaire jusqu au fond marin. Toutefois, en eau très profonde (plus de 1000m), les pipelines sont soumis à des déformations plastiques dues à la forte courbure imposée sur la barge, ce qui n est pas couvert par les différents codes de design internationaux. L objectif de ce stage est de conclure les études sur le sujet faites précédemment, afin de présenter une méthodologie robuste applicable sur appel d offre ou projet. Intégré au sein du département des Pipelines rigides, le stagiaire aura pour missions de : Revoir la documentation et les outils internes développés sur le sujet. Faire une série d analyses incluant : - La détermination des conditions aux limites valides à utiliser dans les modèles, - Evaluer l impact du Steep S sur les phases d initiation et de dépose des pipelines, - Faire des analyses dynamiques, de fatigue et d ECA (détermination des tailles de défaut admissibles dans les soudures) pour évaluer l impact du Steep S par rapport à une pose conventionnelle, - Faire des analyses modales de portées libres sur le fond marin en incluant les effets résiduels de la pose, et comparer les résultats sans les effets résiduels. Développer les documents à envoyer à l organisme de certification (DNV) pour la validation de la méthodologie. Développer un standard interne présentant en détail la méthodologie à suivre sur appel d offre et projets, incluant les impacts potentiels de cette méthode sur le dimensionnement des pipelines. PIP 03 Internship Junior Engineer Pipelines design : pipelay motion criteria Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope Subsea pipelines can be installed by various methods, mostly J-lay and S-lay, each having its advantages and drawbacks. The installation operations have to be performed safely, in terms of personnel on board the vessel, but also in terms of equipment and pipeline integrity. Such operations are therefore supported by dynamic installation calculations that will allow determining the allowable sea states. The objective of the internship is to develop an alternative method consisting in defining a correlation between some vessel motions (velocity and/or acceleration) and the pipelay limiting criteria (strains/stresses in the pipe, loads on equipment). This will allow reducing the number of dynamic analyses to be performed and adding reliability to the studies for offshore operations. Integrated in the Rigid pipelines department, the intern will have for missions: Review existing literature on the subject, Perform analyses to determine which motions are influencing pipeline strains/stresses and vessel equipment loading, Establish the correlation between the above motions and the pipeline and equipment criteria for the different laying modes, Validate the correlation with past operations Develop an engineering standard document presenting the recommended methodology. PIP 03 Stage Ingénieur Junior Pose de pipelines : critères de pose selon le mouvement du navire Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Les pipelines sous-marins peuvent être installés selon différentes méthodes, les principales étant les méthodes en J et en S, chacune d elle ayant leurs avantages et leurs inconvénients. Les opérations offshores doivent se dérouler de manière sûre, tant pour le personnel à bord, les équipements que le pipeline lui-même. Ces opérations sont donc étudiées en phase d ingénierie par des analyses dynamiques qui permettent de déterminer les états de mer admissibles. L objectif du stage est de développer une méthode alternative, consistant à définir une corrélation entre les mouvements des navires (principalement les vitesses et accélérations) et les critères limitant de la pose de pipeline (typiquement les contraintes/déformations du pipeline et les chargements sur les équipements de pose). Ceci permettra de réduire le nombre d analyses dynamiques en phase d ingénierie tout en augmentant la fiabilité des résultats pour les opérations en mer. Intégré au sein du département des Pipelines rigides, le stagiaire aura pour missions de : Revoir la littérature existante sur le sujet, Faire les analyses de pose afin de déterminer les mouvements impactant les contraintes/déformations du pipeline et les chargements des équipements de pose, Etablir les corrélations entre les mouvements de navire et les critères de pose pour les différentes méthodes d installation (S et J), Valider ces corrélations avec des projets précédents, Développer un standard ingénierie présentant la méthodologie. PIP 04 Internship Junior Engineer Pipelines installation methods - Integration in a Project team Department Engineering Rigid pipelines Scope The intern will be integrated to the Rigid pipelines installation team on a shallow water or deep water project. His specific tasks include: Preparation of work procedures and method statements, Preparation of equipment and material lists, Assist project in liaison with the lead engineer, Assist in all required design reviews to ensure compliance of project engineering work with Engineering Standards, Group Procedures and Policies. The intern will interface with all the installation team engineers and will be supervised by the Rigid pipelines installation Lead Engineer. This internship constitutes an opportunity to perform a real and practical engineer work in a real project situation. PIP 04 Stage Ingénieur Junior Méthodes de pose de pipelines - Intégration au sein d une équipe Projet Département Ingénierie Pipelines rigides Mission Le stagiaire sera intégré à l équipe chargée de l installation des pipelines rigides dans un projet en eau peu profonde ou profonde. Il aura pour mission de : Développer et rédiger les procédures d installation, Péparer les listes d équipements et de matériaux, Assister l équipe de projet en relation avec l ingénieur responsable de l équipe, Prêter son concours dans toutes les études de conception requises afin de garantir la conformité des travaux d ingénierie avec les meilleures pratiques en vigueur, ainsi qu avec les procédures et autres politiques applicables au sein du Groupe. Le stagiaire sera en contact avec tous les ingénieurs de l équipe d installation, sous la supervision de l ingénieur chargé de l installation des pipelines rigides. Auprès du Project Control Manager et du Planning Lead, vous serez en interface avec les fonctions contrôle des coûts, gestion des risques et d autres membres du projet. PRE 01 Internship Junior Engineer Subsea flooding and hydrotest equipment Department Engineering Subsea pre-commissioning and equipment Scope In 2012, Subsea 7 has developed the basic design of a subsea flooding unit operated by ROV. The unit includes the following main elements: deployment structure allowing the deployment and recovery of the unit from/to a dynamically positioned vessel (DP vessel), filtering devices, chemical injection and control device, chemical tank(s), flow-rate control (main seawater flow and chemicals), Instrumentation (pressure and flow-rate for the chemical injected and main seawater flow), flooding hose to connect the flooding unit to the pipeline. The unit is designed to operate deep sea during deep sea SURF development (Subsea umbilical, riser and flowline). The outcome is confidential and can not be presented in this internship offer. The subject of the internship consists first in completing the design of the unit as the selection of some key elements requires further assessment and finalisation. The subject is then extended to the design and selection of equipment allowing the execution of subsea hydrotest by the use of subsea instrumentation manifold, to be designed, self sustaining down-line and surface pressurization equipment. The overall equipment will permit subsea hydrotest up to 2200 m WD. Profile M/W Student in 3rd year of school of engineering. Good written English level is required. PRE 01 Stage Ingénieur Junior Unité de remplissage et de pressurisation de pipeline sous-marin Département Ingénierie Equipement sous-marin et pre-commissioning Mission En 2012, Subsea 7 a développé le «basic design» d une unité de remplissage sous marin opérable par robot sous marin (ROV). L unité inclut principalement : une structure permettant le déploiement et la récupération de l unité à partir d un bateau à positionnement dynamique, un system de filtration, un system de control des débits (eau de mer, produit chimique), l instrumentation associé et les flexibles de connections au pipeline. L unité est conçue pour être utilisée en eau profonde pour les développements SURF (Subsea, umbilical, riser et flowline). Les résultats sont confidentiels et ne peuvent être exposés en détail dans cette offre de stage. Dans un premier temps, le stage consistera à finaliser la conception de l unité de remplissage sous marin ; certains éléments clefs nécessitent encore d être analysés et finalisés. Le sujet sera alors étendu à la définition et la sélection des équipements qui seraient nécessaires à l exécution de test en pression de pipeline en grande profondeur, utilisant des clarinettes sousmarines instrumentées (à concevoir), des flexibles reliant le bateau au pipeline et supportant leur propre poids ainsi que les éléments de surface permettant la pressurisation. Ces équipements seront conçus pour permettre des tests en pression de pipeline jusqu à 2200 mètres de profondeur. Profil H/F Etudiant en 3ème année d école d ingénieur. Un bon niveau d anglais est requis. PRE 02 Internship Junior Engineer Subsea valves & connectors : permanent low pressure isolation Department Engineering Subsea pre-commissioning and equipment Scope Subsea valves and connectors operated by ROV (Remote operating vehicle) are key elements in the subsea deep sea field development. They are complex and expensive equipments, so their selection is a key element in the engineering process. The internship will include different missions: Assess the current market and provide a catalogue of the existing equipment available, Study of the existing equipment and review of the international codes driving the design of these equipment, which will allow to work out and propose synthetic datasheets that will address all key elements for the design and selection of the subsea connectors (datasheets that could then be used during project execution to ease the definition of the subsea connectors). The completion of above study and assessment will allow the design of a low pressure isolation device. Subsea 7 has some basic principle of such devices, that in some cases (subsea buoyancy tank isolations), could replace valves and connectors and provide the adequate isolation. These devices could be a very efficient and cost effective solution. The development will include: Definition of the technical scope, Basic design including the issue of general arrangement drawing, Required qualifications that would be required in line with applicable codes and standard of valves and connectors, Costing individual equipment and associated qualification tests. PRE 02 Stage Ingénieur Junior Vannes et connecteurs sous-marins : isolation basse pression Département Ingénierie Equipement sous-marin et pre-commissioning Mission Les vannes et connecteurs sous-marins opérés par robot sous marin (ROV) sont des éléments clefs des développements pétroliers en eau profonde. Ces équipements sont complexes et chers : leur sélection est donc un élément majeur dans la procédure d engineering. Le stage comprendra différentes missions : Analyser le marché et établir un catalogue des équipements existants et proposés par les fabricants spécialisés, Etudier les équipements existants et effectuer une revue des codes internationaux concernant la conception de ces équipements, ce qui permettra ensuite d établir un document synthétique incluant les éléments clefs qui contribuent à la définition et la sélection des connecteurs sous-marins (document qui sera alors utilisé dans le cadre de projet pour faciliter la définition des connecteurs). La finalisation des études ci-dessus offrira une bonne connaissance de ces équipements et permettra la conception d isolations sousmarines basse pression. Subsea 7 possède les principes de base de ce type d équipement qui dans certains cas (isolation de bouées sousmarines) pourraient remplacer les vannes et connecteurs sous-marins, tout en offrant l isolation demandée. Ce type d équipement offrirait une solution très rentable. Le développement de ce système d isolation inclura : La définition du cahier des charges, La conception (basic design) et inclura l élaboration de plans d ensemble, La définition des essais qui seront nécessaires pour qualifier ces équipements en ligne avec les codes internationaux, L estimation des coûts pour le développement de ce produit (qualification, fabrication, essais). R&D 01 Internship Junior Engineer Building of a commercial and technical case for tax refund Department Engineering Research & Development Scope The French government has put in place for several years, an incentive program to promote Research & Development works in the country (Credit Impot Recherche, CIR). This plan allows Subsea 7 to improve the budget allowed to R&D works and to carry out more of these works to confirm his leadership in seabed-to-surface systems. The purpose of this Internship is to build up the technical and cost case to taxes administration submission. The intern will have to perform the following: In coordination with the Technology Development Manager, - identify R&D projects eligible for Tax refund program, - ensure involved suppliers certified CIR. Build up a technical case for each selected project: - gather all important project documents (contracts, reports, presentations, publications, patents, ), - interview people involved in the project, capturing the background, history, events, knowhow of the project, - write and issue a technical report of the project according to administration template. Build up a Cost and financial dossier for each project: - in coordination with the department Cost controllers, capture all costs (manhours, purchase orders, invoices, ), - evaluate the total cost of each project and the associated tax refund, - write and issue a cost and financial case. Prepare the full package, to be checked by Technical and Financial Managers. Presents results to management team. The intern will interface with Subsea 7 Technology Development Manager, R&D Project Managers, Cost controllers, Intellectual Property and Legal departments, all Engineering discipline.
