Objet du passage en révision B : en rouge et en italique 1- VP200 ET VP400 Un nouveau PC industriel va désormais équiper les VP200 et VP400 livrées de Belfort (concerne les VP200 dont le numéro de série est supérieur ou égal à sn# les 2 VP200 sn#2097 et sn#2100 et les VP400 dont le numéro de série est supérieur ou égal à sn#4051). Ce nouveau PC (référence ) fonctionne avec la version SCO et requiert la version minimum d OpenDrive 5.2.0e Service Pack 13 (status minimum du 4 juillet 2007). L ancien PC (référence ) équipant les VP200 et VP400 est toujours disponible et ne peut pas, en cas de panne, être remplacé par le nouveau PC car le hardware interne du nouveau PC étant différent du hardware de PC initial, l image disque du PC initial ne pourra pas être restauré sur le nouveau PC. La stratégie consiste donc à garder les 2 références : - Ancien PC Industriel : Nouveau PC Industriel : Au niveau maintenance, il conviendra donc en cas de besoin de commander le PC identique à celui à remplacer. Si l imprimante est équipée d un ancien PC, il faudra commander l ancien PC. Si l imprimante est équipée d un nouveau PC, il faudra commander le nouveau PC. Pour savoir quel type de PC est installé dans l imprimante, vérifier à partir du numéro de série de l imprimante ou voir la partie connecteurs derrière le PC (sur le nouveau PC, les 2 connecteurs série sont sur la même carte : voir photos ci-après). 3 2- IMPRIMANTES 8000 RIP4 Les PC Industriels équipant les imprimantes 8000 RIP4 (référence ) arrivent en fin de vie. Ils ne seront donc plus disponibles. Au niveau maintenance, il conviendra en cas de besoin de commander le PC identique à celui à remplacer. ❶ Si l imprimante est équipée d un PC 8000 référence , il faudra alors commander le même PC référence Si ce PC est encore disponible en stock, c est ce PC qui sera livré. Après échange du PC, il faudra uniquement restaurer l environnement OpenDrive du PC initial (à partir des disquettes). Dans le cas où ce PC n est plus disponible en stock, un kit référence sera automatiquement livré. Ce kit N contient : - un nouveau PC référence une nouvelle licence SCO (version 5.07) - un adaptateur multisérie - un CD contenant l image disque Le nouveau PC étant équipé d une nouvelle licence SCO, il conviendra de réinstaller la licence IPDS (s il y en avait une d installée sur l imprimante) ainsi que les licences vitesse et résolution. L Organisation de Maintenance devra en faire la demande au Support Technique international en envoyant le numéro de licence SCO et le numéro de série de l imprimante. Un nouveau fichier licence sera renvoyé par le Support et devra être installé sur la Restaurer l environnement OpenDrive à partir des disquettes du PC d origine. Après installation complète, faire un backup du disque sur CD suivant la procédure de backup (voir procédure dans TSB N 26011A ). Il est TRES IMPORTANT de disposer d un backup du disque sur CD avant de procéder à l échange d un PC. C est la seule façon de retrouver l exacte configuration de l imprimante. C est pourquoi, nous rappelons qu il faut IMPERATIVEMENT procéder à cette sauvegarde avant que le PC ne tombe en panne. ❷ Si l imprimante est déjà équipée d un nouveau PC (car l upgrade a déjà été effectué une première fois), il convient cette fois-ci de commander directement un nouveau PC référence (sans licence SCO). Pour retrouver l environnement de l imprimante 8000, il suffit de restaurer le disque complet à partir du backup disponible sur site. Nouveau PC Industriel Page 3

4 Le nouveau PC étant de dimension plus grande que le PC équipant les imprimantes 8000 RIP4, il s installera en position couchée (voir photo ci-dessous), l accès disquette et lecteur CD se faisant au travers du carter gauche en enlevant le cache PC. 5 Technical Service Bulletin FILE CONTROL CREATED DATE MODIFIED DATE FOLDER INDUSTRIAL PC 13/11/ /11/ B New Industrial PC on RIP4 Printers Reason of the modifications: Red and italic 1- VP200 AND VP400 A new industrial PC will equip the VP200 and VP400 shipped from Belfort (are concerned the VP200 with serial number greater or equal to # #2097 and #2100 and the VP400 with serial number greater or equal to #4051). This new PC (reference ) is operational with SCO version and needs as a prerequisite the OpenDrive version 5.2.0e Service Pack 13 (minimum status of July 4 th,2007). The old PC (reference ) installed in the VP200 and VP400 is still available but cannot be replaced, if needs to be changed, by a new PC because the hardware of the new PC is different of the old one. So it will not be possible to restore the disk image of the initial PC on the new PC. The strategy consists to keep the 2 references : - Old Industrial PC : New Industrial PC : In a Maintenance point of view, the PC which has to be ordered will depend of the PC installed inside the printer. If the printer is equipped with an old PC, the same PC will have to be ordered. If the printer is equipped with a new PC, a new PC will have to be ordered. To know which PC is installed inside the printer, verify with the printer serial number or see the connector area at the back of the PC (on the new PC, the 2 serial connectors are on the same board : see photos hereafter). 7 2- RIP PRINTERS The Industrial PC which equip the 8000 RIP4 printers (reference ) are out of commercialization. They will not be available anymore. In a Maintenance point of view, the PC which has to be ordered will depend of the PC installed inside the printer. ❶ If the printer is equipped with a 8000 printer PC reference , the same reference will have to be ordered (reference ). If this PC is still available in the Nipson stock, this PC will be shipped. After replacing the PC inside the printer, only an OpenDrive environment restore will be required (from the diskettes). If this PC is not available in the Nipson stock, a kit reference will be automatically delivered. This kit N i s containing: - a new PC reference a new SCO license (version 5.07) - a serial line adaptor - a CD with the 8000 printer disk image The new PC is equipped with a new SCO license, so the IPDS license will have to be reinstalled (if the printer is configured with an IPDS license) and also the speed and resolution licenses. The Maintenance Organization will have to submit the request of the new associated licenses to the International Technical Support by sending the SCO license number + the printer serial number. A new license file will be sent by the Technical Support and will have to be installed on the 8000 printer. Restore the OpenDrive environment from the original diskettes. After the complete installation, make a disk backup on a CD following the backup procedure (see procedure in TSB N 26011A ). It is VERY IMPORTANT to make a disk backup on site. It is the only way to get back the original printer configuration. It is the reason why it is MANDATORY to make the disk backup before a crash PC. ❷ If the printer is still equipped with a new PC (because the upgrade has been performed previously), the PC which has to be ordered is a new reference (without SCO license). Restore the disk backup to get back the printer configuration. New Industrial PC Page 7

8 The new PC is bigger than the old 8000 RIP4 PC, so this PC will have to be installed in a horizontal position (see photo below). The floppy and CD access is possible on the left side by removing the housing.
