5 Teaching notes This resource consists of a PowerPoint and differentiated worksheets, and is designed to enable year 7 students to describe their bedroom. Dans ma chambre (1) on pp.1-2 is for lower ability students and Dans ma chambre (2) on pp.3-4 is more challenging. As a starter activity, students could be asked to complete exercise A on their worksheets, matching the furniture to the French with the help of dictionaries. Slides 2-12 of the PowerPoint introduce and drill pronunciation of items of bedroom furniture. Slides are a version of Kim s game in which one item of furniture disappears in turn and has to be named. Slide 23 could be used for a listening task, where the teacher says the name of the furniture in French and students write the numbers in the order they hear them. The names of the items appear on clicking. Slides enable students to practise saying two things that are in the room, using Dans ma chambre, il y a. Slides introduce the negative: Dans ma chambre, il n y a pas de. Slides introduce the following prepositions : dans, sur, sous, entre, derrière, devant. These are also given on the worksheets for students to refer to. Slide 34 is a reading task with three short descriptions to be matched to the bedroom images.
