Using the example of the word température, explain how many syllables are pronounced. 3) How is the passé composé formed? It is formed by taking the auxiliary ou être and combining this with the of the verb. 4) Give an example of a regular ir verb( in the infinitive) 5) Give an example of a regular er verb 6) Give 2 examples of a regular re verb. 7) In the following sentence, explain why 2 different past tenses ( underlined) are used in French: «Nous nous sommes tous réveillés en plein milieu de la nuit car il pleuvait énormément.» 8) What are the two categories of verbs which, in the passé composé, require the use of the auxiliary être instead of avoir? 9) How do we know when to use the futur proche in French? Give at least one situation as an example. 10) What is meant by the structure of a tense? Explain the structure of the futur proche tense. 6
