2 INSTRUCTIONS: Complete as many exercises as you can. The first exercises are Reading (AT3) exercises, the next are Writing (AT4) exercises. There is also a research task which you should complete in English. By referring to the level descriptors on the last page you can work out your own levels in Reading (AT3) and Writing (AT4).

3 Reading (Level 1) (5 minutes) The following FRENCH words are the KEY WORDS that you need to know. Find the English meanings. 5 Reading (Level 3) (10 minutes) Read the text and answer the questions in English: Je m appelle Louis Walsh. Je me prépare pour l X Factor ce soir. D abord, je me douche. Ensuite je me rase et je me lave les dents. Je ne me fais pas une crête mais je me brosse les cheveux. Je m habille et voilà! Je suis prête. Je n aime pas me préparer. C est ennuyeux. 1. 6 Reading (Level 4-5) (30 minutes) Read the text, where somebody is giving details of their holidays, and then answer the questions, IN ENGLISH. Normalement, pendant les vacances nous allons à la campagne et nous faisons du camping. Nous visitons la France. J adore ça parce que c est génial. Le matin, je fais du vélo et quelquefois, mes parents et moi faisons de la rando. Quelquefois nous faisons de la natation. Nous adorons les activités sportives. Le soir, je bavarde avec ma soeur. C est super! L année dernière je suis allée en Espagne avec ma copine et sa famille. J ai passé deux semaines dans un hotel. C était formidable. Cet été je vais aller en colonie de vacances. 10 Writing (Level 3) (10 minutes) Pretend that you are a celebrity. Write a short paragraph to say how you get ready to go out. Don t forget to try and use some of these connectives to extend your sentences. Aim to write about 6 sentences. D abord first of all; ensuite next; puis then; finalemant finally; quelquefois sometimes; eg. Je m appelle Louis Walsh. Je me prépare pour l X Factor ce soir. D abord, je me douche. Ensuite je me rase... etc

11 Writing (Level 5) (40 minutes) Use your exercise book, vocabulary sheets and this booklet to write about your holidays. If you don t usually go to the same place or you didn t go away last year or have no plans for this year, MAKE IT UP!!!! Say Where you went last year Where you usually go on your holidays What you do there What your opinion is of your holidays What you plan to do this year what you will do there Remember that you should always try to EXTEND and DEVELOP your writing in FRENCH. DO NOT use an internet translator to translate full sentences your teacher will instantly know if you have used one of these! Try to use connectives to construct longer and more interesting sentences.

13 RESEARCH TASK. (60-90 minutes) Go to Look at the weekend brunch(breakfast), lunch and dinner menus and decide what you would have for each meal give the French name for the dish and describe in English what it actually is.
