1 Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development Department of Teaching and Learning FLGED-GE : Advanced French for Teachers of French Fall 2014 Day: Thursday, 4:55-6:35pm Instructor : Delphine Stafford, delphine.stafford@nyu.edu Office hours: by appointment / Department of French - 13 University Place, 6 th floor, #639 Course Description This course welcomes students who wish to reinforce their communicative skills in French. Through class discussions (about articles, movies, lectures, exhibitions, TV advertisements, news from francophone radio stations, and events related to French speaking culture), oral presentation, short essays and review of grammatical structures in context, the students will have the opportunity to work on their oral and written proficiency in French, as well as to find concrete and motivating ways to teach French (for student teachers). Objectives - Strengthen students proficiency in French through review of grammatical structures in context - Reinforce oral and written proficiency through class discussions and presentations on francophone culture - Find concrete and motivating ways to teach French within the frame of New York State and ACTFL standards. Grading - 25% Projet final Catalogue de ressources pour les enseignants de FLE - 25% Journal d écoute hebdomadaire (audio, video + exploitation pédagogique d une chanson) et activité de grammaire (Contrastes) - 20% attendance (Regular attendance, being on time and class involvement (active participation to the best of your ability / completion of all the weekly assignments / projects on time) - 10% Critique d un film (2 pages écrites) / présentation orale (avec idées d exploitation pédagogique) - 10% Compte-rendu d article, de livre (2 pages écrites) - 10% Compte-rendu d un événement culturel francophone (2 pages écrites) / présentation orale Projet final Catalogue de ressources pour les enseignants de FLE 1- Recenser et présenter brièvement 5 sites internets utiles en FLE 2- Choisir et présenter 5 jeux à faire en cours (identifier le niveau, l objectif d apprentissage et rédiger une consigne)

2 3- Choisir 3 supports de compréhension orale et 3 supports de compréhension écrite à exploiter en cours (identifier le niveau, l objectif d apprentissage et rédiger une consigne) 4- Présenter 5 activités de mise en train (de production orale/écrite) Journal d écoute hebdomadaire 1- Ecouter la radio en français, des podcasts, des chansons 2- Choisir une chanson, préparer une mini-bio de l interprète, imprimer les paroles 3- et noter 2 exploitations pédagogiques possibles (préciser le niveau de l activité). Activité de grammaire (Contrastes) 1- Faire les exercices de grammaire donnés en devoirs à la fin du cours 2- et les corriger à l aide des réponses (à la fin du cahier d exercices). You plagiarize when, without proper attribution, you do any of the following: Copy verbatim from a book, an article, or other media; Download documents from the Internet; Purchase documents; Report from others oral work; Paraphrase or restate someone else s facts, analysis, and/or conclusions; Copy directly from a classmate or allow a classmate to copy from you.
