10 NOTICE FEDERAL GAS TAX FUND The federal government is requesting that communities acknowledge Federal Gas Tax funding provided, through the use of Canada signs and hosting of events. All communities are encouraged to consider recognizing Canada s contribution to important community projects. EVENTS: When you decide to hold an event, please provide a minimum of 1 months notice to your Grants Technologist who will advise Canada. SIGNAGE: When to erect a sign? If the Federal Gas Tax funding for the project is in excess of $50,000, or; If the project is significant to the community. Prior to an event celebrating a project that is partially or fully funded under the Federal Gas Tax Fund. Preferably, signs should be erected at the project site 30 days before construction start-up. A sign is not necessary if the percentage of Gas Tax funding for a project is insignificant to the overall cost, however if a community has a number of small projects, the erection of one sign for the community may be sufficient. Visibility is an important component of sign placement. If the project site is not visible there is no point to placing a sign. NOTE: Sign costs can be claimed as part of your expenses under the Federal Gas Tax Program. For your convenience and should you choose to do so, we have negotiated bulk pricing with Hi Signs of Edmonton who will take your order. If you are building your own sign, specifications will be provided by your Grant Technologist and must be followed.
