6 6 Il était une fois une chèvre qui avait trois chevreaux. Un jour, elle rassembla ses petits et leur expliqua : Mes chéris, je dois aller chercher à manger dans la forêt. Pendant mon absence, vous devrez faire très attention au loup! Si quelqu un cogne à la porte, n ouvrez pas car ce pourrait être lui. S il vous attrape, il vous mangera tous. Vous le reconnaîtrez à sa grosse voix et à ses vilaines pattes noires.

7 Once upon a time there was a nanny goat who had three kids. One day she collected her little ones and explained: My darlings, I have to go look for food in the forest. During my absence, you must watch out for the wolf! If someone knocks at the door, do not open it because that could be him. If he catches you, he will eat you. You will recognize his gruff voice and horrid black paws. 7

9 Une fois la maman partie, quelqu un frappa à la porte et cria : Ouvrez, mes petits, c est maman. Mais les chevreaux reconnurent le loup. Tu as une grosse voix. Tu es le loup. Va-t en! crièrent-ils. Once the mother goat had gone, someone knocked at the door and shouted: Open up my little ones, it s Mama. But the kids recognized the wolf. You have a gruff voice. You are the wolf. Go away! they called out. 9

10 Le loup partit, furieux. Il alla boire de l eau fraîche pour adoucir sa voix, puis il revint frapper à la porte des chevreaux en disant d une petite voix douce : C est moi, maman. Ouvrez-moi! Mais les petits chevreaux étaient malins et lui demandèrent : Montre tes pattes pour voir si tu es notre maman. Le loup passa sa grosse patte noire aux longs ongles sales sous la porte. Les pattes de notre maman ne sont pas noires comme la tienne. Tu n es que le méchant loup. Nous ne t ouvrirons pas. Va-t en! 10

11 The wolf, furious, left. He went off and drank fresh water to soften his voice: then he returned to knock on the kids door, saying in a small, soft voice: It s me, Mama. Open up! But the tiny kids were smart and said: Show us your paws, so we can see if you are our mother. The wolf slid his disgusting black paw with the long, dirty nails under the door. Our mother s paws are not black like yours. You are the wicked wolf. We won t open up for you. Go away! 11

12 Une chèvre doit laisser ses trois petits seuls à la maison. Elle les met bien en garde de n'ouvrir la porte à personne et de se méfier du méchant loup. Malgré leurs précautions, le loup déjoue la méfiance des chevreaux et en mange deux. Mais leur maman n'a pas dit son dernier mot! Ce texte superbement illustré offre une version persane d'un conte aux parfums des mille et une nuits. Née à Téhéran, Faezeh Fayz a obtenu sa maîtrise en scénographie à l'université de Téhéran et poursuivi sa formation en théâtre à l'université de Saint-Denis, à Paris. Depuis dix ans, elle expérimente des parcours artistiques très variés : théâtre pour enfants, films d'animation, création de peintures et illustrations de livres pour enfants. Passionnée par les histoires et les mythes persans, elle souhaite contribuer à les faire connaître dans les pays occidentaux. Born in Teheran, Faezeh Fayz obtained her Masters in scenography at Teheran University and continued her theatre training at the Université de Saint-Denis, Paris. For ten years now she has experimented with diverse artistic pursuits: theatre for children, animated films, paintings and illustrations for children's books. Strongly focused on Persian stories and myths, she wants to help make these known in Western countries.
