Environ un adolescent sur quatre avoue avoir été victime de la cyberintimidation, un phénomène qui entraîne un risque de dépression, selon une enquête récente en France. Chez les filles, les sujets d intimidation sont souvent leur apparence ou leur popularité, tandis que les garçons sont visés par des commentaires sur leurs capacités physiques. Les victimes ne se sentent pas en sécurité car la cyber-intimidation peut les toucher 24 heures sur 24, sept jours sur sept, sur un écran d ordinateur. Les enfants, souvent, ne disent rien à leurs parents car ils ont peur que leur accès à Internet soit interdit.
