Application aux Couches Minces
Film sur substrat Schematic diagram for the 3ω method to measure thermal conductivity of thin films. The heater line is wide compared the film thickness such that heat flow through the film is one-dimensional and the thermal conductivity in the direction normal to the layer is measured.
Réponse d un film sur substrat
cas d un substrat électriquement isolant cas d un substrat électriquement conducteur P is the power dissipated by the heater l is the length of the metal heater/thermometer line k is the thermal conductivity C is the specific heat per unit volume w is the width of the metal line. Lee, S.-M., and Cahill, D. G., Heat transport in this dielectric films, Journal of Applied Physics, Vol. 81 (6), pp. 2590 2595, 1997.
Détermination de la conductivité thermique (cas du comportement 1D) t is the thickness of the film The measured thermal conductivity of the film includes the thermal boundary resistance between the substrate and the film as well as the boundary resistance between the film and the metal heater. Strictly speaking kfilm is not simply an intrinsic material property, but it depends on the interfaces, and for this reason, it is sometimes referred to as an apparent or effective thermal conductivity

Banc de mesure Schematic diagram of the experimental setup for the 3ω method. The lock-in amplifier outputs a voltage modulated with angular frequency ω. The voltage across the heater/thermometer line is measured using the A input on the lock-in after it is passed through a unity gain differential amplifier. The voltage across a reference resistor (potentiometer) is measured using the B input on the lock-in after it is passed through a unity gain differential amplifier and a multiplying digital to analog converter (DAC). The entire experiment is automated through the use of a PC that controls the lock-in amplifier, the DAC, and the cryostat (not shown)
