1 GRAPHIC STANDARDS MANUAL CHARTE GRAPHIQUE This Graphic Standards Manual is aimed at the relays of the Europe Direct information network. They are members of a single family dedicated to the same aim: the dissemination to specific target groups of information on European policies and institutions. The correct use of the logo depends on compliance with the various rules explained in this guide. Therefore, equipment for printing your documents should be used in such a way as to comply with these rules. The aim is to give the target audience a positive image of the network. Ils appartiennent à une même famille qui partage la même vocation: la diffusion de l information relative aux politiques et aux institutions européennes auprès de publics déterminés. La bonne utilisation du logo repose sur le respect des diverses règles expliquées dans ce guide. C est pourquoi le matériel destiné à l impression de vos documents doit être utilisé dans le respect de ces mêmes règles. Il en va de la bonne perception des réseaux auprès du public qui est le leur.

2 Multi coloured logo The common logo uses the two colours of the European Union flag: blue (PANTONE Reflex Blue, RGB:0/51/153; hexadecimal: ) for the background and yellow (PANTONE Yellow, RGB:255/204/0; hexadecimal: FFCC00) for the "i", the stars symbolizing European information and the text EUROPE DIRECT. PANTONE Reflex Blue is appropriate for four-colour printing and using 100% Process Cyan and 80% Process Magenta. PANTONE Yellow is appropriate for four colour printing using 100% Process Yellow. 3 Single-colour logo In newspapers or at any other time when colour printing is inappropriate, the logo must be printed in black and white. When working in one colour, PANTONE Reflex Blue should be used. Never use variations in colour for the common logo or a negative of the logo. Le logo reproduit en une seule couleur. Dans les journaux ou chaque fois qu une reproduction en couleur s avère inappropriée, le logo doit être reproduit en noir et blanc. Dimensions The common logo must observe certain proportions. Minimum measurements A height of 16mm, regardless of format. The logo may not be printed in a smaller format, as it becomes illegible. 4 Applications for other documents The common logo must always be printed at the top of the page. The common logo, as well as the name and address of the centre, may be printed in blue (PANTONE Reflex Blue) or black. The name which appears with the centre s details at the position reserved for the address, is the name under which the centre is known locally. However, this name must use the name of the network to which the centre belongs (e.g. EDC). Applications sur autres documents Le logo commun est toujours imprimé dans le haut de la page. Le logo commun, le nom du centre et son adresse peuvent être imprimés en bleu (PANTONE Reflex Blue) ou en noir. La première mention apparaissant dans les coordonnées du centre, à l emplacement prévu pour l adresse, est l appellation sous laquelle le centre est connu localement. Cette appellation doit reprendre le nom du réseau auquel le centre appartient (par. ex CDE). Own logo of the host organisation A second logo may appear beside the common logo. This second logo either represents the centre or the host structure. The host body's logo must cover a reasonable surface area in relation to the common logo. The common logo and the name and address of the body hosting the centre may be printed in blue (PANTONE Reflex Blue) or black. The second logo must never be out of proportion with the common logo. Le propre logo de l organisme hôte Un deuxième logo peut être reproduit aux côtés du logo commun. Ce second logo représente soit le centre, soit le structure hôte qui l accueille. La dimension du second logo doit rester d'une "surface raisonnable" par rapport au logo commun. 5 Envelopes, business cards and with compliments notes In all these applications, only the common logo should be used. The centre is free to decide upon the position and typography of its address and telephone/ fax number(s). The name and address of the centre may be printed in blue (PANTONE Reflex Blue) or black Les enveloppes, cartes de visite et de compliments Dans toutes ces applications, seul le logo commun est utilisé. Publications All the principles set out in preceding pages must be applied to publications such as magazines, brochures, posters, etc. The proportions of the logo must be observed. The choice of where to place the common logo is left up to the centre. When working in a format larger than A4, specific needs determine the size of the common logo. Nevertheless, it is important that the logo still be legible. Les publications Tous les principes énoncés dans les pages précédentes doivent être appliqués dans les publications: magazines, brochures, affiches,... Les rapports de proportions du logo doivent être respectés. Le choix de l emplacement du logo commun est laissé à l appréciation du centre. Lorsque l on travaille dans un format supérieur à un A4, les besoins déterminent la taille du logo. Il importe cependant que la lisibilité du logo soit conservée. Signs and stickers Only the common logo should be used for these applications. On signs and stickers, this logo may not be used in conjunction with other logos. When using the common logo, the rules on proportions must be observed. Les plaques de signalisation Dans toutes ces applications, seul le logo commun est utilisé. Sur les plaques de signalisation comme sur les autocollants, celui-ci ne peut être associé à aucun autre logo.
