No part of this publication may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means without the express written consent of the publisher. 1 Introduction A custom preset is a preset in which at least one output channel has been replaced by the user. As a custom preset is a combination of several factory presets it will be considered as part of the CUSTOM preset family. This technical bulletin presents the custom preset creation procedure and also provides important recommendations of use. 2 Custom preset creation procedure Creating a custom preset typically consists in exporting an output channel from a source unit and to load it back into a target unit (intended to contain the custom preset). The following steps show such a procedure in the online mode (the most complete). Refer to the LA NETWORK User manual ( [User manual]) to obtain detail about the menus and functions used in the procedure. 1. Put the source unit in the offline mode by right-clicking on the source unit and selecting the Disconnect function. 2. Export the desired output channel from the source unit to create a.channel file as follows: right-click on the output channel bar of the source unit to display the output channel menu (see the SB118_60 unit in Figure 1), click on the Store channel to file function, browse to select a directory and validate. The current output channel is now stored to the selected directory including the output channel parameters. Note: The conditions required to export a channel are given in [3]. 3. Put the target unit in the offline mode by right-clicking on the target unit and selecting the Disconnect function. 4. Import the output channel from the selected folder to the target unit as follows: select the desired output channel on the target unit and right-click to display the output channel menu, click on the Load channel from file function, browse to select the prior saved output channel file and validate. The output channel is now imported in place of the current one and thus overwrites the previous output channel parameters. The custom preset is now created. Note: The conditions required to import a channel are given in [3]. 5. Repeat steps 2 and 4 for any other output channels to be imported into the target unit. 6. Save the custom preset from the target unit to create a.preset file: Right-click on the target unit, select Rename preset, and type in the desired preset name. Click on the Store Preset to file function, browse to select a directory and validate. The custom preset is now stored to the selected directory including the preset parameters. 7. Put the system in the online mode by opening the Network menu of the command toolbar and clicking on the Retrieve System from Network function. WARNING After having disconnected a unit and having modified it by loading a new preset or a new output channel, NEVER use the Try to Connect function to put the unit in the online mode. In doing so, some parameters will NOT be updated into the physical unit which could result in possible speaker damage. 8. Load the custom preset into the physical unit as follows: once the system is online, right-click on the target unit, click on the Load Preset from file function, browse to select the preset file (.preset) containing the custom preset, and validate. 1/3 en

2 LA NETWORK MANAGER remote control software CUSTOM PRESET CREATION PROCEDURE TECHNICAL BULLETIN - VERSION 1.0 Custom preset creation examples The [KIVA-3x118_60] custom preset in Figure 1 has been created by replacing the first SB_A channel of an [SB118_60] preset by a PA_A channel coming from a [KIVA] preset. The [KIVA XTA] custom preset in Figure 1 has been created by applying the following two-step procedure: replace the LF_A and HF_A channels of a [12XTA_FR] preset by a PA_A channel coming from a [KIVA] preset, and then replace the just created second PA_A channel by an SB_A channel coming from an [SB118_60] preset. 3 LA NETWORK MANAGER remote control software CUSTOM PRESET CREATION PROCEDURE TECHNICAL BULLETIN - VERSION Important recommendations of use For compatibility purposes, it is ONLY possible to EXPORT: PA channels, except those coming from a preset of the KILOKIVA family. SB channels, except those coming from a cardioid preset. It is ONLY possible to IMPORT an output channel in place of a: PA channel (including a channel part of a preset of the KILOKIVA family). SB channel, except if it is part of a cardioid preset. LF / HF channel couple located in OUT1/OUT2 (both channels will automatically be replaced by the same imported output channel; in a second step it will be possible to replace one of them as shown in Figure 1). The Load channel from file function ONLY applies: For a preset located in a user memory location (1-10). If the output channel to import is compatible with the target preset (e.g. both have been extracted from PRESET LIBRARIES with version numbers featuring same first digit). Example: 2.0 is compatible with 2.1 but not with 1.3. In the offline mode. When importing at least one output channel in a factory preset, the preset family is automatically renamed as CUSTOM. In this case, the compatibility and safety rules related to the factory preset family names no longer apply. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to give explicit name to any custom preset (in the limit of 16 characters). Example: When inserting a SB28 channel in the first output channel of a factory [SB118_60] preset, rename the custom preset as [28_60-3x118_60] to prevent the user from connecting a SB118 enclosure on the first channel (which may result in speaker over-excursion or thermal overstep). 3/3 en

Un preset custom étant une combinaison de plusieurs presets usine, il est considéré comme faisant partie de la famille de presets CUSTOM. Ce bulletin technique présente la procédure de création d un preset custom et fournit d importantes recommandations d utilisation. 2 Procédure de création d un preset custom Créer un preset custom consiste typiquement à exporter un canal de sortie d une unité source puis de l importer dans une unité cible (prévue pour contenir le preset custom). Les étapes suivantes montrent une telle procédure en mode online (la plus complète). Consulter le document LA NETWORK User manual ( [Téléchargement logiciel]) pour obtenir des détails à propos des menus et fonctions utilisées dans la procédure. 1. Placer l unité source en mode offline en cliquant-droit sur celle-ci et sélectionnant la fonction Disconnect. 2. Exporter le canal de sortie choisi à partir de l unité source pour créer un fichier.channel comme suit : cliquer-droit sur le canal de sortie de l unité source pour afficher le menu correspondant (voir l unité SB118_60 en Figure 1), cliquer sur la fonction Store channel to file, naviguer pour sélectionner un répertoire et valider. Le canal de sortie courant est maintenant sauvegardé dans le répertoire sélectionné en incluant les paramètres de sortie. Note : Les conditions requises pour exporter un canal sont données en [3]. 3. Placer l unité cible en mode offline en cliquant-droit sur celle-ci et sélectionnant la fonction Disconnect. 4. Importer le canal de sortie depuis le répertoire sélectionné dans l unité cible comme suit : sélectionner le canal de sortie choisi sur l unité cible puis cliquer-droit pour afficher le menu correspondant, cliquer sur la fonction Load channel from file, naviguer pour sélectionner le fichier.channel précédemment créé et valider. Le canal de sortie est maintenant importé à la place du canal courant et les anciens paramètres de sortie sont donc écrasés. Le preset custom est maintenant créé. Note : Les conditions requises pour importer un canal sont données en [3]. 5. Répéter les étapes 2 et 4 pour tout autre canal de sortie à importer dans l unité cible. 6. Sauvegarder le preset custom depuis l unité cible pour créer un fichier.preset : cliquer-droit sur l unité cible, sélectionner Rename preset, et saisir le nom de preset choisi. Cliquer sur la fonction Store Preset to file, naviguer pour sélectionner un répertoire et valider. Le preset custom est maintenant sauvegardé dans le répertoire sélectionné en incluant les paramètres de preset. 7. Placer le système en mode online en ouvrant le menu Network de la barre de commandes et en cliquant sur la fonction Retrieve System from Network. WARNING Après avoir déconnecté une unité et l avoir modifiée en chargeant un nouveau preset ou un nouveau canal de sortie, ne JAMAIS utiliser la fonction Try to Connect pour placer l unité en mode online. En faisant cela, certains paramètres ne seront PAS mis à jour dans l unité physique, ce qui pourrait endommager les transducteurs. 8. Charger le preset custom dans l unité physique comme suit : dès que le système est online, cliquer-droit sur l unité cible, cliquer sur la fonction Load Preset from file, naviguer pour sélectionner le fichier.preset contenant le preset custom, et valider. 1/3 fr

6 LA NETWORK MANAGER logiciel de pilotage à distance PROCÉDURE DE CRÉATION DE PRESETS CUSTOM BULLETIN TECHNIQUE - VERSION 1.0 Exemples de création de presets custom Le preset custom [KIVA-3x118_60] de la Figure 1 a été créé en remplaçant le premier canal SB_A d un preset [SB118_60] par un canal PA_A provenant d un preset [KIVA]. Le preset custom [KIVA XTA] de la Figure 1 a été créé en appliquant la procédure en deux temps suivante : remplacer les canaux LF_A et HF_A d un preset [12XTA_FR] par un canal PA_A provenant d un preset [KIVA], puis remplacer le second canal PA_A nouvellement créé par un canal SB_A provenant d un preset [SB118_60]. 7 LA NETWORK MANAGER logiciel de pilotage à distance PROCÉDURE DE CRÉATION DE PRESETS CUSTOM BULLETIN TECHNIQUE - VERSION Recommandations d utilisation importantes Pour des raisons de compatibilité, il est UNIQUEMENT possible d EXPORTER : Des canaux PA, sauf ceux provenant d un preset de la famille KILOKIVA. Des canaux SB, sauf ceux provenant d un preset cardioïde. Il est UNIQUEMENT possible d IMPORTER un canal de sortie à la place d un : Canal PA (y compris celui d un preset de la famille KILOKIVA). Canal SB, sauf s il fait partie d un preset cardioïde. Couple de canaux LF/HF situé en OUT1/OUT2 (les deux canaux seront automatiquement remplacés par le même canal de sortie ; dans une seconde étape il sera possible d en remplacer un comme montré en Figure 1). La fonction Load channel from file s applique UNIQUEMENT : Pour un preset situés dans une zone mémoire utilisateur (1-10). Si le canal de sortie à importer est compatible avec le preset cible (i.e. les deux presets ont été extraits de LIBRAIRIES DE PRESETS dont les numéros de version comportent le même premier chiffre). Exemple : 2.0 est compatible avec 2.1 mais pas avec 1.3. En mode offline. Lorsqu on importe au moins un canal de sortie dans un preset usine, la famille du preset est automatiquement renommée CUSTOM. Dans ce cas, les règles de compatibilité et de sécurité relatives à la famille d un preset usine ne s appliquent plus. Ainsi, il est fortement recommandé de donner un nom explicite à tout preset custom (dans la limite de 16 caractères). Exemple : Après avoir importé un canal SB28 dans le premier canal de sortie d un preset usine [SB118_60], renommer le preset custom [28_60-3x118_60] pour éviter à l utilisateur de connecter une enceinte SB118 sur le premier canal (ce qui risquerait de provoquer un dépassement des limites d excursion ou une surchauffe du transducteur). 3/3 fr
