D après Google Scholar, ses travaux ont été cités ~1600 fois dans la littérature scientifique. Ses contributions majeures : 1. Étude approfondie de la compatibilité entre modèles tomographiques du manteau terrestre obtenus avec différentes techniques (Boschi et Dziewonski, 1999, cité >100 fois ; Becker & Boschi, 2002, cité >200 fois). Ce travail a contribué à éclaircir la structure du manteau à très grande échelle (interactions entre panneaux plongeants et zone de transition ; superplumes). 2. L évaluation, à travers la tomographie globale, de la théorie des panaches mantelliques (Boschi, Becker & Steinberger, 2007, 2008, cités ~50 fois). Ce travail a permis de cataloguer les points-chaud selon leur origine, profonde (panaches) ou superficielle. 3. La compilation de la base de données la plus dense disponible des ondes de Rayleigh (leur vitesse de groupe et de phase) mesurées à partir du bruit de fond sismique en Europe centrale (Stehly et al., 2009 ; Verbeke et al., 2012). 4. Développement d un logiciel de tomographie globale à résolution adaptative. Ce logiciel permet notamment de cartographier l anisotropie sismique à partir 1
des observations d ondes de surface et de volume (Boschi & Ekström, 2002, cité ~80 fois ; Schäfer et al., 2011a et b ; Auer et al., 2014). 5. Étude tomographique et géodynamique du manteau au dessous du bassin de la Méditerranée (Boschi et al., 2004 ; Boschi et al., 2010 ; Faccenna et al., 2014). Ces travaux ont contribué notamment à éclaircir le rôle de la convection mantellique dans le développement de la topographie (dynamique vs. isostasie) européenne. 6. Étude approfondie de l écart entre les modèles tomographiques basés sur la «théorie du rayon» et ceux obtenus à travers les méthodes à «fréquence finie» (Peter et al., 2007, 2009). On montre que l amélioration des modèles obtenue grâce à cette nouvelle méthode est fortement limitée par la couverture des données, qui est souvent insuffisante. 7. Étude théorique du «bruit de fond sismique», mélangeant modélisation numérique, analogique (Colombi et al., 2014) et analytique (Boschi et al., 2012, Weemstra et al., 2014). Ces travaux ont conflué dans un article de review très exhaustif actuellement soumis à Reviews of Geophysics et disponible sur le site web de L.
