Box Nicosia, Cyprus Academic Profile: Sophia Stavrou hοlds a PhD in Sociology from Aix-Marseille University, France (Licence, Maîtrise, Master Recherche, Doctorat in Sociology). She is currently Special Scientist at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Cyprus and Research Associate at the Mediterranean Laboratory of Sociology (LAMES-CNRS, MMSH). She has previously taught at the Department of Sociology, University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I) from 2006 to 2010 and also worked as Research Associate at the French National Institute of Pedagogical Research for the EuroPEP-Socrates II European Research Project from 2007 to In 2007, she has been awarded a research fellowship from the Rectorate of the Academy and from the Regional Council of PACA for academic excellence. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the transformations of universities related to public policy promoting the connection between higher education and labour market. Her main research interests are in the sociology of education, public policy, sociology of knowledge, as well as in social sciences research methodology.
